Hi. I was wondering if I could ask you what being in graphic design is like and what you do? I am trying to decide on what i should get my bachelor's degree in and I am torn between english(literature focus) and graphic design. I eventually want to get my masters in library science and someone suggested graphic design as a field I should study because it might be useful in being a librarian. But I am wondering what you do with graphic design and if it is right for me? You don't have to answer if you don't want to but I was just curious and don't know anyone who actually does graphic design.

Katie Wright Hi Katie, I’m a senior in a graphic design program. If you want to become a librarian I don’t think design is right for you. Most of my degree has been focused on branding, print, and web design. While we do study typography, in my experience it is much less about what the texts says and more about what it looks like. I was also torn between English and design but if you want to be a librarian, I would stick with English. That being said, it wouldn’t hurt to take a design class or two just to see how you like it! Hope this was helpful 😊
@@Violist99 Thanks for the advice. I am leaning more toward English and will probably study that, but maybe if I have the time or money I would like to try some design classes just because I do find it interesting.

@@BacadoTheSkoggy so, what, your just writing a moving essay? I thought the whole point of typography was to use different fonts and things to communicate tone and stuff and make it interesting. How are you supposed to do that with such strict and limiting rules?

Fun fact: In a rather famous murder that happened in Florida, police supposedly HOSED DOWN a the crime scene so that the lead investigator/police chief/someone could think more clearly.
Fun fact for everyone reading, though: that's not why they drew chalk around the bodies. Notably, they didn't draw chalk around DEAD bodies; they just took photos of the dead. They drew chalk around the bodies of the people who were still alive so after they were taken to the hospital, the police still had positioning evidence to go back to. Weird, eh?
