Just sent that to my mate as he just got one of these told him to watch it to the end as there’s a few good bits of advice in it , cheers Dave , good wee video to boost the morale before heading out to work 👍
Instead of shooting brake at the start, I thought you said "shouldn't break" and of course as we all know being an Audi that couldnt be right. Thanks Dave.
Did a Q7 gearchange lever last year , guy bought 2nd hand unit with cables typical friday at 3pm ,, I looked at it , same as you said a pain in the bum to take console out , then thought stuff changing all of that for the pull lever only , got my mate in passenger seat side , between us took an hour , console back in then chucked all the other crap in his boot , bye bye ,money please , no doubt a suit designed the coffee cup holders position Dave , great video , still on sunbed till weekend, then 2 weeks quarantine at home , do some at home
i bought an audi a4 avant 2016 b8 or b9 and i realized when i press the button to start the engine, the engine light also lights up and doesnt start. Is there an easy fix for this or should i just keep trying ? usually at second or third time i get to put my car to start. By the way, no fault as appeared or i might not have seen. Thanks in advance
Great video Dave. 10 out of 10 for commitment to find the fault.. I hate getting to deep into a job knowing there's a possibility I won't get my hours covered in the end.. happens more often than I like.. A quick question have you ever serviced a audi A6 cvt automatic gearbox.. Looking at getting involved in doing one soon.. any information would be appreciated..
Terrible design with the start button being so close to the cup holders 🤦♂️ Handy to know about the window calibration too, I’m having a Dave Sterling binge 😉
Hi Dave, your video is amazing very detailed. I am currently having same issue on my Audi A4 Avant 2018. The diagnostic machine says errors, and the errors won't clear after reset. 1.P304900 2.P061500 Meaning starter relay open circuit, the problem is where is the relay, I call Audi dealer they are asking me for the part no of the relay on the car. Please can you help
Dave I find Intermittent faults and "hopefully fixed " results after hours of stripping down the car are always the stuff of nightmares for a mechanic and hard to price up once completed. Do you agree?
Hello Dave. I know it's a long shot reaching out to a stranger on the Internet, but none of the "in real life" experts seem to be able to assist! I have a 2017 Audi A4. For the past three months, I have been trying to complete my region's mandatory emissions testing (I live in the United States, in the State of Maryland). The emissions testing people keep telling me they can't even complete the testing because something isn't communicating properly with their systems. I went to two Audi dealerships, two mechanics, tried driving around aimlessly for ages (I was advised to "drive more") - nothing works. Finally, one mechanic said he thinks he knows what the problem is - some kind of error code where the engine isn't fully "registering" or "opening" with the car's software when I turn the car on - but he can't seem to be able to fix it. Have you heard of anything like this? Any suggestions? The car drives just fine, and I don't get any "check engine" lights or error messages from the car itself. Thank you.

Legend!
You win some and you lose some and sometimes it gets fixed by poking around and checking the basics..
GOOD job..
Thanks for sharing
Cheers Jeremy, so far so good
Thank you for your priceless advice. Lesson learned here is Audis have electrical glitches.
A great video Dave 👍 Modern cars with there electronics are a nightmare ! Great until they go wrong !
Very true
And that’s how it goes sometimes...Only thing certain is occasional uncertainty. You done your due diligence Dave. Good Man 👍
Can't do much more apart from replace the switch if the problem recurs, so far so good tho. Cheers Ian
dave sterl Aye, replacing parts on speculation is also option. The dealerships are well practiced at it. But seldom appreciated by the owner. 😀

Haha Colin, good one
Thanks for sharing Dave. No doubt we’ll get one like that some time.
