Perfect. I have mine since 2004. Incredibly reliable.
Absolutely! That proves it even further. Mine is a 2008 s2 model and I’ve only had it since 2018... but runs like it’s a new bike. No problems at all!
I got a fazer s2 2007 in blue. Simply does it all. I live in Greece, took it to a road trip to Sicily, Italy fully loaded. No problems whatsoever, very comfy on the highway. I use mine almost everyday, to work and back. Perfect fun machine as well. Sunday twisties are a lot of fun with this one. So versatile. Reliability, OMG. Oil, filter and the bits and that's all you need. It also turns into a beast if you place an aftermarket exhaust. The screaming sound is just awesome. Mivv Suono is my recommendation. I still get compliments from random people about this sexy babe. At this price, you can't go wrong with this one.
I completely agree! Those sounds like some amazing adventures. I can’t wait to get out there again. I’ve not got an after market exhaust but I am coming round to the idea off it. I’ve also been told some of them reduce the heat coming through the seat.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying this awesome bike!
@@FabMotorbikes Thanks mate! Indeed, they actually have a difference. The Suono with silencers on is actually very quiet but it generates a bit of heat. Still better than the stock. Now silencers removed surely you won't have an issue with the heat whatsoever. But you have to deal with the noise which is a bit of a pain if you like quiet rides. For me it's just music to my ears. :)
Just passed my license in October and bought my lovely FZ6 S2 in black with full fairing.
Loving it to bits!
Glad to hear it! You’ve made a brilliant purchase, they’re such great bikes. And congratulations on passing your test Enjoy!
I have the FZ6 S1 2006, second season ahead of me, can't wait!
Greetings from Poland Sir!
Hello! Congratulations on the bike. I can’t wait for this season too. Greeting from the UK 👍
Thanks for this interesting video. I just grabbed one and I'm in love with it. Hello from Canada!
Hello from the UK! Congratulations on the new bike. I’m glad you found the video useful, they are brilliant motorcycles!
Had one for ten years. Super reliable. Did the services myself but never touched the spark plugs in over 50k. There was no need to as it ran sweet as a nut. I now ride a ST1300 Pan European but am seriously considering buying another FZ6 as a second bike. Nice vid 👍🏻. Ride safe 🏍
Thanks so much glad you liked the video. I haven’t changed my spark plugs either the whole time I’ve had it. Partly because it’s runs absolutely fine as it is but also because they are abit of a pain to get to. Easy access means removing the air box... so never seems worth it given how well it runs. Ride safe! I’d love a pan European one day. I hear only great things 👍
I bought a FZ6 (S2) 2008, partially because of this video, and I LOVE IT!! I have the full black-on-black version with a custom seat, gorgeous!
The ride is really great, on high and low speeds, filtering through traffic, casual rides: it is al a breeze. And lastly, the low weight and the handling is perfect and gives great confidence.
(Obligatory context: I previously owned a BMWR 1100 RT, which is great and comfortable when driving but quite a handful on lower speeds or when walking)
Excellent! I’m glad it was a useful video 😊
Great review thank you! Looking at getting one of these, I've been riding bikes since the 80's and there something about this one that's so attractive. It's a proper motorbike, no fancy computers and those under seat exhausts look the bees knees !! Ride safe buddy.
Thanks very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and it helped out. You're right, there isn't too much tech going on with this bike. Less things to break in my eyes. Ride safe too!
I just realised that it was your video that I learned a lot from when I was considering a GSX 1250 Bandit. Although they're very different bikes it was between the FZ6 and the Bandit. The economy, versatility and lighter weight of the FZ6 won me over.
I got fz6 for 17years now very good bikes...
Great video, thanks very much! Your passion for the fz6 really comes across and it’s actually convinced me to go out and buy one.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it and it’s of use. It’s a fantastic bike. Probably he best I’ve ever owned 😊 although I’d recommend checking out these two videos of mine where I point out a few annoying things about it. czcams.com/video/_oKK8GywQjk/video.html & czcams.com/video/tR8Nyvusz28/video.html thanks again . Ride safe 👍
Passed my test last year and the fz6 is my first bike. Keep below 8000rpm and it's so easy to ride. Then if your feeling adventurous then it does that as well. I'm really impressed and I'm going to stick with the fz range and move up to the fz8 in a year or so because the reviews on that are equally as impressive.
Nice one! Congratulations on passing your test. Fz6 is such a versatile bike and heard great things about the FZ8 too!
Your review was very accurate. The wider back tyre although it costs a bit more than the bikes in the class it feels more planted and handles really well.
Thanks 😊 and you are so right about the back tyre. It allows for way more confidence at sharper lean angles. However I wouldn’t recommend the tyre I have (Michelin pilot rd 2). They’re great for longevity but not amazing for handling because of their shape.
The wider tyre also makes to bike look more aggressive than most in the class too.
@@FabMotorbikes I've got Road 5 tyres. Quite sticky but don't have anything else to compare them to
Cheers I’ll have a look into them 👍
Number 9 you are so right ! Ill take this stock exhaust sound to any bike i had !
Definitely! I understand why people like louder bikes... some believe it’s safer... but the standard, quiet set up in any bike is more for me. Also it doesn’t require any adjustments to the mapping or fuel injection system. So just keep it as it is !
EXCELLENT review mate- I live in US now - Vegas - pretty hard to get out here cheap- I used to have litre sports bikes and years (80s) dispatch riding and feel this assuming BEAST is a perfect blend of power and nimbleness with the added bonus of touring too. Thanks for posting mate and many happy, safe, wheely fun, ticket-free miles ;))
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you have many a fun, fast and safe ride too on those Nevada roads! 👍
I bought one sporadically on fb market because its a beautiful bike for only 3k and it was the same color as my car. Didn’t do a whole lot of research prior to purchase but love hearing now that it’s one of the most reliable bikes ever made💯
I reckon you’ve done really well! It’s not perfect (no bike is) but its overall an excellent bike and very reliable 👍
Phenomenal bike. I have a 2008 as well but it's blue. Found it from some older gent and it only has 2500 miles on it. I've had it for 2 years and I don't think I ever want to get rid of it.
Nice one! A 2500 miles 2008 is rare. That thing will last forever if well looked after. Congratulations on the great bike!
Enjoyable video. Thanks for taking the time.🏍👍
No problem. 👍 thank you for watching
Love my fz6!
Just bought one. So far so good
Good choice!
Thanks for the review, i have a fz6 s2 too
Greetings from Villahermosa, Tabasco México
No problem, thank you for watching! Congratulations on the excellent bike. Greetings from Norfolk, England
Passed my test last April bought 2008 fz600s2 in mint condition for £2900 absolutely love it , looking for a second bike now but will always keep this one, top end speed =👌👍
It’s a great machine. I agree it will be a good idea to keep hold of it. It’s not easy to find a bike that is so reliable as well as being so fun! Enjoy it, and let me know what second bike you get 👍
Quality review. Really well done, with good arguments .
Thank you 🙏
Loved my old 84 XJ600, probably the older version of the liquid cooled FZR (air cooled but with standard oil cooler) (and carby rather than fuel injection.) But supremely comfortable, smooth (four cylinder) and great high speed cruising ability
I have one, bought it in 2014 brand new and love it! It is the motorcycle you will ever need.
Nice one, I agree! I’m yet to hear from someone who has owned one from new. You made an amazing choice!
How many miles/Kilometres have you put on it?
@@FabMotorbikes at the moment mine only has around 22.000 km. My life changed so I ride a lot less.
Before I bought it I had in 2008 the Yamaha ThunderCat from 2000, made around 50.000km on it, then in 2011 bought a Deauville (not very reliable), also put around 50.000 km, than I bought the Fazer but soon after I got a home next to my job, so I ride a lot less, and with a 2yo daughter me and my wife don't travel together much anymore.
But it is a wonderful motorcycle, cheap to maintain, it doesn't give any problems, cheap to run, low insurance, confy to ride alone or with 2up. I don't think I will let her go anytime soon, and it is full stock.
Sounds great. Good to hear that you also experienced the engine from the old fazer, which I believe was from the thunder cat. That was also a very popular bike and heard nothing but good things.
Thank you for the advice on the Deauville . I have friend thinking of getting one... I have always thought Hondas were a close second to Yamaha’s in terms of reliability. But I could be wrong about the Deauville.
@@FabMotorbikes the Deauville had a problem and Honda is aware of it, sometimes when you go accelerating and pull the clutch to switch gears it will simply turn off, and it is a very boring motorcycle sometimes when you need the power isn't there. Also, maintnance costs are higher than the Fazer.
Yes, the ThunderCat was an awesome motorcycle too, very reliable and cheap to run like the Fazer is, and it was fast, but it laked ABS, for someone that rides all year round it isn't very good.
Btw, my wife said many times she was more confortable when we where riding the Cat or the Fazer, the Deauville only looked more confortable, but it wasn't, I must agree, on higher speeds with a bit of wind you will be fighting a lot, unless you remove the top case and put the windshield down.
I have had a from new a Yamaha 2005 FZ6 and to me it was the best bike i have ever had and still have. It now has just over 86,000 miles on it and runs like new.
That’s great to hear. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it. It’s such an awesome bike. Thanks for watching
Great Video. I've had one a few months. I'm 6ft 6 and am relatively comfortable on it. Would definitely recommend for a first bike.
Thank you. I’m 5 ft 7 and am perfectly comfortable on it too. Great first bike, also plenty of fun for more experienced riders too
Just back from the big smoke (Belfast) with my first big bike, 2009 Fz6 S2. Have my Mt125, which is a fabulous bike, and it was time since getting the full licence in October for the next step. 110% recommend this bike to anyone looking for their first big bike. Superb comfort, mega smooth, flat foot with ease (am 5'9) unreal value and Id reckon similar if not easier pushed on foot as a kawi er6.
2009 FZ6 S2, 13k miles £2850.
Without a shadow of a doubt, you will absolutely LOVE it! 😎🤘
Nice one! Congratulations on the bike 👍
Mine is 2006. Red and black. I'm in love with her.
Totally get it! They’re amazing. (Just googled the Red and Black version, awesome!)
I just bought one of these yesterday, excited to take it home in a couple weeks when there's no snow on the ground :)
Agree with you on the exhaust, not super loud but it has a nice tone to it.
Nice one! Once its revved up its plenty loud anyway. Enjoy the bike!
Bet now that you have ridden it you know that when you get in the higher rpm’s she absolutely screams 😎
Got the FZ6 2004 one.Its true after 8000RPM its truly a beast!Nice to see videos about these bike again :)
Thanks Chris glad you like the video! 👍
Change the chain sprockets to -1 tooth front and +1 rear and it will have that power at 5000RPM and it actually makes crawling around in the city at slow speeds very comfortable!
@@windowlicker6996 I’m really considering doing this. I’m due new chain and sprockets relatively soon any way. Thanks for the tip!
@@FabMotorbikes if you do alot of inner city riding its perfect. I never did quite run 1st gear out full throttle but that's not to say it couldn't be done. 2nd gear pulls were absolutely insane. I couldn't recommend it if you do alot of highway riding. Reving at 7-8000rpm to keep up with transport trucks isn't really fun.
@@windowlicker6996 that’s makes sense. So in fact may not work for me. I can imagine that fuel economy is effected to a fair bit as well.
Amazing !!
Agreed! Thank you 🙏
Brilliant video
😊 thanks
yeah its a great bike... i have 2004 fazer for a about ten years now and i never had any problems with it...reliable and cheap to maintain....
Yea I love it. I don’t see myself ever getting rid of it. It’ll probably just keep going and going!
@@FabMotorbikes it will no doubt about that...i know one guy with the same bike that had over 120000 km and runs like a charm...
Wow impressive! Mines at 38,000 km. plenty of life left.
Bought and taking over a used FZ6S2 2009 ABS. Can't wait to ride it.
You’ll love it! Excellent purchase you won’t regret it. Mine isn’t ABS. But I’ve heard nothing but good things about the ABS models. Enjoy!
Put some aftermarket pipes on mine took it on the motorway and after 10 mins in average speed restrictions decided to go back to stock, as my first big bike it’s perfect now looking to go up to a older fzs1000 that I test rode the other day but will keep the fz6 as well
Nice one. I’ve considered upgrading too an FZ1. But haven’t quite get the need to yet. I used to have an Suzuki sv1000 with very loud pipes. Didn’t quite Meckes sense. The quiet and smooth FZ6 is perfect for now.
helo ,i have ad mine for about 2 years got the 2006 fz6 and got 56000 km and still runnig like a beast i do drive a bit of gravel road since im on a farm but has no problems just take it slow and if you want to take it on the open road in some twisties it is amazing!!
Nice one! These bikes are absolutely brilliant. And it sounds like they can even do some light off roading. Ride safe! And thanks for the comments. It’s a lways good to hear about other people’s life with the FZ6
I have the same! It is a beautiful bike. Greetz frm GER
Greetings! I agree such a beautiful machine. Enjoy! And thank you for watching 😊
شكرا على المعلومات القيمه ✌🏻
مرحبا بك. شكرا لمشاهدتك
Looking to get one of these for my 1st bike
Great first bike
thanks mate
No worries. Thank for watching 👍
Don't know if your Fz6 has one but the center stand is AWESOME
It has one. And I love it!
I have that exact bike, but, its the N version! its a rocket! :D But, it also tours very well!
Definitely a rocket. And I’ve done a few tours on it too. Really comfortable but also loads of fun! Glad to hear you are enjoying it 👍
Got the same bike, mate... she is a fkn unicorn!
Gotta love it! what a beauty!
Great video, thanks. Looking at getting myself one off the back of this video. What top box / pannier rack and cases are these and where did you get them? Thanks
Hi thanks for watching . It’s a great bike!
Here’s a video on my side cases (please read the pinned comment): czcams.com/video/j1qmY9iajU8/video.html
And another on my topbox: czcams.com/video/9O4BsY3_OHI/video.html
Good versions of the boxes can be gotten hold of on eBay or Facebook market place. But best to get the wracks brand new. Amazon is the easiest place 👍
In this summer i'm going to get my motorbike driver licence for my 30's and my favourite bike is the '02 Yamaha Fazer 600 cc with carbs and many others
Great bike also 👍
@@FabMotorbikes yeah I can’t wait to go to my first practice lesson
very nice
Thank you
Dear brother
I have also too same your bike. but I need ECU electronics because engine temperature can't start engine. How can I do?
Looks like the Night Fury from "How to train your dragon" :') good vid
Haha! I completely agree! Thanks for comment and the genius comparison 😊🤟
I said the same thing
I wonder if anyone else nicknames it 'Toothless' too? 🙋🏻♂️
Looks like the thing would be good for touring with the saddlebags and topbox
ideal for it! plenty of capacity to carry everything you need.
I've got a fz6 fazer s2 for one year, I did not know the mirrors could flip! thanks
You’re welcome! And congratulations on the great bike. Awesome choice
11. central stand..yeeesss
Yessssss! Essential!
Got a 1998 Fazer 600 as my first road bike, 50k miles on it but starts in the dot each time and no engine issues.
Those are brilliant bikes. Quite different to my 2008 version as this has a de-tubes, fuel injected, R6 engine. But a lot of people think your bike is even better as it has more lower end torque! Thanks for watching 👍😊
They are definitely a Sleeper & One of the Best Value bikes on the market! I'm a Sucker for the Under Tail Exhausts - My VFR800 has them as well, I'm looking at a Black 2005 model for $2500 aud - It has to be Black! Btw Cool Jacket I have a 20+ yr old Old Rivet brand Jacket that looks similar, Unfortunately I can't make it Zip Up anymore! Too many Beers over the Years! 😉🇦🇺🍺👍
The under tail exhaust does look so cool. Does leave the pillion a little toasty on the bum I. The summer though. I love that jacket, it’s just a leather jacket. No bells - no whistles thanks for watching
@@FabMotorbikes Cheers Mate👍
I have mine now for almost 2 years and I have just 2 points to add. the underseat exhaust gets really hot on the right leg on a hot summer day and my gearbox is a bit clunky. I would not mind exchanging into an FZ1 :D
I completely agree on both points. The clunky gear box I have gotten used to but the heat from the exhaust is a bit annoying... but only when riding slowly in town during the summer. I’d love to get an FZ1 too one day!
@@FabMotorbikes I heard some rumors that different oil would do a difference but I would not know which one, I got 10w40 from 2 different brands so far and it was the same. let me know when you have changed your exhaust and if it made any difference :D
Will do. The clunky gear box is massively improved with a fresh oil change. But goes back to as it was before within 500 miles or so. I use Castrol 10w40 fully synthetic motorcycle oil
I had a 2008 years ago I loved that thing. Power was fantastic. I just bought a gsx s750 and I almost swear my old fz6 was a little quicker
This is great to here. GIXERS are awesome too. It might be the more upright riding position that makes it feel quicker? I do love this bike too though
@@FabMotorbikes could be, I think my gsx needs a good tune up
It does look good in the black matey 😎😎
Thanks! Do you have one?
@@FabMotorbikes no just starting off at the min ill be doing why test when they are back open 😁
Nice one. Good luck. You know which bike I’d recommend once you’ve passed.
@@FabMotorbikes FZ6 ?
Haha yes that’s the one!
I had mine for only ONE MONTH before I got hit, head on, while sitting at a red light and totaled it out. I miss it a ton:(. The guy who put it on the tow truck said "Dang, thats a good looking bike man"
ah man! that's rough! Its an amazing, beautiful bike fore sure. Hope got away without any injuries?
@@FabMotorbikes I did. Luckily I saw the impending danger and dumped the bike before the car contacted the bike. I wonder if I can link you a picture somehow
Nice one on the reflexes 👍 it’s a shame to dump such a nice bike but you definitely made the right move.
I think tagging should be possible. Facebook and Instagram are both: @fabmotorbikes
I've had mine 4 years same colour. Don't do heated grips, even oxford. It effects the twist grip an there a barstard to remove. Slinky clutch cable massive difference. Used Brymbo front pads ,but keep calipers clean and serviced.
Thanks very much for the advice. I recently put a Venhill clutch cable on and noticed an improvement. I had also heard good things about slinky 👍 in regards to brake pads I have some pretty standard pads from ‘pyramid parts’, which I admit are just OK… so thanks for heads up about the brembo pads!
Thanks for watching! 👍
I forgot to say I enjoyed your commentary, good work. Tyres next? BTW
Bt 31s are OK but a bit wooden. Need more grip.
@@peterpowell8827 thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the commentary. The tyres I have are Michelin Pilot road 2’s, they’re quite good but old technology now. They have lasted a long time but the shape is not ideal for slightly more spirited riding.
Im thinking of getting one the bike looks so good. Im about 1.72 would a shorter person have problems with it?
You’re the same height as me. And I’m fine with it. My feet are not perfectly flat on the floor but I do not struggle with the bike at all
Hi ! Grreat video
,
Im Wondering whats the bikes year??
Thanks
Hi Julio. Thank you, I'm glad you like the video : )
This is a 2008 model
Any opinion on this version vs the previous model which was changed after 2003. ?
I’ve ridden both, the Fz6 is definitely more racy. The power spikes quite aggressively above 8k rpm. Where as the pre 03 fazer has a much more user friendly flat power curve but still plenty of power. Some people prefer it to the Fz6, for that reason
After watching your review several times I have just bought a really good 2005 model. What a bike, however, I would like to fit panniers similar to the ones that you have could you possibly say where you got them if then where would you recommend, I can't find any available but I am not great on the internet doh.....
Excellent! Congratulations! Great purchase. I’ve made a video about panniers. View here >> czcams.com/video/j1qmY9iajU8/video.html . I’d also recommend reading some of the comments. There’s some good ideas and some of my errors are helpfully pointed out.
@@FabMotorbikes Thanks Fab, by the way, my bike came with an after market gear indicator fitted and it works great, if I can work out which one I will let you know.
Nice one thank you!
What year is yours and where exactly did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? It's just crazy how affordable they are in the UK. I might be willing to come there all the way from Bulgaria just to get one. Here they are affordable too but I'd say I trust the UK market more. Cheers buddy! From a proud Transalp owner who might soon switch to a FZ6.
Hi Aleks. Mine is a 2008 and I got it from a dealership just south of London. Prices in London will be more expensive (everything is). It had 16,000 miles on it and a full service history. If you can find one like this you definitely won’t regret it. Transalps look cool though, was considering one for a long time 👍
Hola! donde conseguistes las parrilas para montar las maletas de la FZ6.
Estos no son fáciles de encontrar. Pero tendrás que buscar el portaequipajes PL360 o PLX 360.
Hello nice video. Is this bike good for a 1.85m driver? Can I travel easy with 140kmh?
I’d say you will be fine . 👍
Great Video and fab bike ! I have the same one in red - Unfortunately I have had to take it off the road - There seems to be an ABS Issue with the back brakes - I have been told that the ABS Pump might be faulty, although I have no ABS light on - Have you come across this issue ? New ABS Pump is costing more than the value of the bike 😞
No not had that issue as mine doesn’t have ABS. I’ve heard you can just disable the ABS completely and run it without it. Obviously it’s a safety feature that will not longer be there but will allow you to get back in the road
@@FabMotorbikes Thanks for the reply .. That sounds like a good idea - I wonder how big a job that would be .. I guess seperate lines to the front Calipers and the back ?
im looking foward to get one as soon i finish taking my moto licence. I have being researching and find Fazer to be a good begginer bike. One thing that bothers me, and because everyones saying me that, is that it doenst comes wit ABS and sufisticated breaking systens as new ones does. Do you think that makes an huge diference?
My one doesn’t have ABS and have never found it to be an issue. But ABS can be helpful. But there are versions out there that do have it. Keep a look out
@@FabMotorbikes thanks alot for the feedback =) great videos by the way u won a new follower!!!
Thank you! I appreciate that 😊
Hi did you ever manage to get a gear indication fitted cheers
Hi I never did in the end. The more I researched, the more I learned that it would most likely involve cutting into the wiring. And I didn’t feel it was worth doing
Hi
Is it a good bike to learn on?
The top end power can catch you off guard as a new rider, but if you are aware of it it can be a good beginner bike. However I would recommend a 2 Cylinder 600-700cc bike to start with over this bike. They have hood but predictable power. Eg Suzuki sv650, Kawasaki er-6, Yamaha mt-07
nice bike mate what garage do you use in London
Hi, I’ve always taken it to AZ motorcycles in north London, Barnet. www.google.com/search?q=az%20motorcycles
The owner of the place is a perfectionist which is what you want... and prices are reasonable too 👍
@@FabMotorbikes thanks mate - i will check them out

How many miles did yours have on it when bought? Thanks.
16,000 miles not much for these bikes I thought. Thanks 👍
I can attest to the FZ6’s reliability, got 38k miles on a 2008 model and have done nothing but maintenance and a voltage regulator that died.
Awesome to hear! Mine is a 2008 with 24k miles and I have done nothing but routine maintenance too. They're built to just keep gong and going.
love this bike. also, although the engine is quiet, the rev limiter has a bite for when you need to let someone know you're there
So true! I’ve used that myself a few times. It gets the point across way more than the horn.
Hi men. Love your video.
answering your last message i would love to give you my remarks.
1 So Sexy and beautiful. YES I TOTALLY agree. Some years ago i saw a magazine, declaring, that the Kawasaki ER-6n is the most beautiful bike in the world.
Right on spot i thought that must be wrong. Yest the ER-6N, is beautiful, weird looking buyt with style, but some would even consider the headlight weird and the rear shock looks weird too being like on the side, etc, but yes
it was a good looking bike, but i think Yamah FZ6 is way way cooler, way more beautiful, the attention to detail on almost every part of the bike, even on the S2 version they even got a lot of attention not only to ussability, but looks too
changing the box type swing arm, changing the front forks for a better looking forks with way better braking performance with 2 more pistons per calipper, and the rear sub chasis with the removable and more beautiful rear pegs, si just amazing.
The fz6 has a beautiful diamond shaped die casting frame with superior rigidity performance because it doesnt contains any welds, (The MT09, FZ6 use the same design for its performance and realiability), its factory screwed in two parts that doesnt contain any weak spots because of welds.
This make a incredibily looking chasis, with a superior performance that no other bike on the segments has, you can even see how the competition suffer from this problem with the GSR600, with broken chasis. and the CB600 with heavy tubular chasis.
The FZ6 is miles away from the competition, with a category of hey own in looks and chasis performance.
The Titanium Rich allow fuel tank, designed with sexy lines, with functionality and realiablity in mind, with good clearance to the handlebar but still having the curves that make a bike beautiful
The 17 Yamaha R6 high performance wheels, with high performance FZ1 Brakes (S2 model)
The special leather seat that make sliding a thing of the past, with good cover of the pillion little buttom make a confortable ride possible.
The totally visible in the day and night LCD wiith fuel gauge, and automatic LCD light
Even a little thing to leave the helmet on the bike.
This bike is almost perfect men.
2 Considering that the avearage rider of the FZ6 are basically conoseurs, who doesnt crash that often because they really love their bikes and the bike is a no production model, that make acquiring and insuring the bike, a blast.
3 Cheap to buy its a understatement, the bike is basically superior to almost any other 600 tourer on the market, they are not even making them anymore, the closest thing right now is the MT09 with its ugly sounding engine, this bike is just so cheap for what it has to offer.
4 Great for pillion riders. Yes definitly, the seat is confortable, big, and the heat transfer from the exhaust is barely noticeable and even so, i personally think is good to have a little thing warm under you buttocks on cold weather.
5 Top end power. Yes. It's a R6 engine nothing less. you can feel the power at 10k rpm until the 14k rpm redline, it virtualy can overtake anycar, you can go, 100km/h in just first gear... at 3rd you are doing 180km/h. Its just a earth missile, that just lake the Ram air and more aggressive cam shaft design to catch the R6s at top end,
but is good that it doesnt, because the R6 is just basically DEAD at low end power. The FZ6 deliver a more useable RPM range, with a little more useable power at low RPM and not so much compromises at top end, its just an amazing bike.
6 Reliability. I have a FZ6 for more than 10 years now. Basically she just ask you to be fueled, oil changed and tire changed if you keep it with good maintenance. The bike is so easy on the chain, the chain is BIG for the bike (530) so it ill endure a long time if you oil it every 300km of every empty fuel tank, the brake pads depends on your riding, and that's it, its a Japanese quality bike, i know FZ6 and R6s with more than 150.000Km, and not even knocking from valve train you can find, they are amazing on realiability.
The DiASil designed engine, linnerless, and aluminum forged pistons will make durability not a issue if you use good syintetic oil and drive it at medium to high rpm, Bikes likes to be at high rpm. Maybe the onlyu advise i can make is to use Motorkote as metal treatment, it will make the bearings and cylinder walls strongers, so it will last a lot lot longer.
7 Attention to detail. This is great on the FZ6, you can see details even in the screws, with security screws all over the place, beautiful screws on the Fazer model on the fairing, the lines are just as agressive as a mountain cat, the pain job is high quality, the biggest selling point, the underseat exhaust, are just amazing, on details... this bike have it all, even being engine naked, it looks like they designed t he engine to be beautiful to see it.
One of the best things that you mention is the do it yourself maintenance (thing that i do and even more). You can see in the video that the oil filter and oil drain are very nice located on the side, so you can change the oil very easy without taking any fairings.
One thing i do with all my vehicles (not just bikes), is change the oil drain plug to one that doesnt require to be screwed, so you can change the oil being HOT, really hot, so its the viscosity is lower so it fluids better. I use the valves from Stahlbus VERY recomended, Thsi way you dont risk your threads at HOT oil change.
8 Rider ergonomics. This is the biggest selling point for Yamaha. They designed the bike to be the bike for those who want a Super SportBike performance, but dont like the riuding position, on the FZ6 you get a high stand position, very confortable for both, the pillion and the rider.
9 Quiet. One of the great things of this bike. IS VERY SILENT! when you see a bike of this passing by, you almost think that its electric. The Exhaust System is very efficient, doesnt cost the bike a lot of top end performance, but the sound... IS JUST MINDBLOWING, of the best 4 Cylinder engine sounds off there.
I have a GPR Ghost exhaust and i even see my self taking it out, because the stock exhaust note sound, is just amazing.
10 Verstaile. One of the best versatile bikes. You can use it to commute, you can use it to travel, you can use it to rider on the highway, you can be side to side with bigger supersport bikes, FZ6. DO IT ALL!
I congratulate to everyone that has a bike like this, is one of the best bike that exist. I have one for a long time, more than 10 years and i dont regret a single moment on it. In fact... at this day... i doesnt even desire to change it to something else. Not even the FZ1, yes the bigger engine is attractive, but when you take into account, the details, the chasis welds, the exhaust, the word fueling, heavier, etc... You dont regret to be having, 100HP under your pants, its more than enought.
Sorry for my english, originally i am from colombia and English is not my primary language. I love it thought.! jeje
Wow awesome comments thank you! I do love this bike so much too. Its pretty much perfect. I appreciate your analysis so much, I believe it will also help other who come across this video to learn more about this brilliant machine!
By the way your English brilliant!
Why does one need to adjust clutch cable ?I'm no biker so i'm really asking.
Three reasons. Firstly the clutch cable can stretch (slightly) over time adjusting it can count the effects of this. Secondly, as the clutch plates wear down over time the point at which the clutch bites changes slightly, adjust the cable is an easy way to counter this. Thirdly, some people will loosen the cable to make it easier for a smaller hand to reach the lever. Although usually you are better of getter adjustable levers when doing this.
I have a byke....❤
Hey! What kind of side luggage support rack do you have on it ?
Hi, they are the Givi PL360 Tubular Pannier Holders. These are flat so will not take panniers that shape to the bike. I got them from here >> www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/207144
Thanks!
@@FabMotorbikes awesome, thanks the quick reply. I just saw one for sale and I think I’ll pull the trigger thanks to your video.
No problem. you're welcome!
What about the naked Bike FZ6?
An equally great bike. The windscreen will offer a bit of additional protection over longer rides. But the naked version will serve you just as well 👍 and you can always get a bolt on windscreen.
Just bought -09 Fazer, first bike in 20 years. I find difficult shifting down gears from 3 to 1. Don´t know what gear is on. What do you think about that? Probably I get used to it.
Mine is usually okay. It can get a little more difficult to shift in that range of gears when the oil get s a bit old. I’d recommend and an oil change. Use the best fully synthetic 10w 40 oil you can find. I usually go for catrol >> www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Castrol-Power-1-Racing-4T-10W40-Fully-Synthetic-4-Litre-Oil-Motorcycle-Bike-/310990884668?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292
And yes... not having a gear indicator is a bit annoying. But I think you’ll get used to it 👍
@@FabMotorbikes Great, thanks for answer. Now its winter (snow) here in Finland, I have time to tune my bike next 4 months, bar end mirrors etc... Merry xmas for all!
Nice one! Excellent time to get those fun fiddly task done that will pay off come spring. All the best from here in England, Norfolk! 🤟
I'm looking the get my first bike, and have been told this would be the ideal beginner bike, I'm 32years old and 6'2" do you thing it would be OK for me from your experience?
Hi Stephen! I’d say it’s a good first ‘bigger’ bike given your age. If you were 21 years old I’d say no. This is because the top end power really can catch you by surprise. I’d always recommend spending a year or so on a 125cc bike to begin with. Height wise... this bike seems to fit everyone, but it’s still worth sitting on one first. Your upper body will be fine but there is a small chance your legs will be a bit cramped. I’d recommend a test drive. In short... as long as you are careful to begin with and give yourself time to get use to it, it’ll be perfect 👌
@@FabMotorbikes thanks for your feedback mate, really appreciate it. I'm in no rush to be on a 1000cc super sport, the reason behind getting one of these is that I can take my time and learn how to ride properly before going up/ or faster.
Thanks again!
Not a problem. Could be the bike for you. Any other questions, let me know. Happy to help 👍
@@FabMotorbikes thanks again mate, much appreciated.
I'm genuinely surprised how welcoming the motorbike community have been.
That sounds about right. All great folk from what I’ve seen over my 12 years as a biker.
Most reliable bike I've owned but damned annoying 1st gear clunk, other than that a pleasure to ride and surprisingly easy to get your knee down on.
I agree that clunk is a bit annoying. In fact when I first got the bike I spent a while researching whether this was normal... the general consensus was that its not a problem. Love this bike though!
I had the fzs600 and loved it but man I never knew these FZ6's rev so high! This is the R6 engine right?
Yes it’s the R6 engine. As with the R6 most of the power is at the very top end. Which means it has a very different character to the fzs600, which I think has a quite linear power band.
@@FabMotorbikes yeah it sounds like quite a different animal, and really looks the part! Great video thanks
No problem thank you for watching
Hi, where did you buy the fazer radiator cover?
Hi Alfredo, I’m afraid I’m not sure where it is from as it was in the bike when I bought it. I believe the one I have is not that good... I feel that the gaps in the guard are too big and therefore doesn’t offer all that much protection. I’ve had a look on eBay and found this one:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113719086894
I believe this will offer a little more protection without restricting air flow too much. It also look nice and shiny!
Thanks friend, I take note of all this. Congratulations on the bike
No problem. Thanks 😊
what year is your bike please?
2008 👍
Hi, I’m planning on getting this bike as my first? I’ve tried searching for this bike on a few bike stores on there website and I can’t seem to find any that stock them? Where did you get yours?
Hello this will be a great choice for a first bigger bike. I found mine in Auto trader. Are you UK based?
@@FabMotorbikes no, I’m in Ireland but I’ll have a look at it. I presume it’s reliable?
Not sure if you mean the bike or auto trader… but in my experience both a really reliable at what they are. Prices are usually a bit higher on auto trader than eBay, gumtree, Shpock and Facebook market place because it’s mostly just dealers on there , not individuals. But on the other hand you get messed out way less 👍
@@FabMotorbikes ok thanks for your help!
Got one just 2 months back. No regret.
Congratulations! Such a brilliant machine. Which version and year is it?
@@FabMotorbikes Mine is a '07. Looks alot like yours with the panniers!
Nice one! Panniers are ideal for touring 👌
What is the difference between fzs 600 and fz6?
The Fzs 600 was available from 1998-2004. It had an engine with Carburettor that was taken from the Yamaha Thundercat.
The Fz6 was available from 2004-2009. Its engine is from a Yamaha R6. Therefore it character is a little bit more aggressive.
Happy to answer any more questions 👍
I don't think you mentioned what year your bike is?
2008 . I did forget to mention this. It’s an S2 model . Thank you for watching
How tall are you just for a comparison?
Hello yes, I’m 5 foot 7 (1.7m). Thanks for watching 👍
To get one if you are small. After exactly 220m i turn around. It’s to small for tall people.
Fair enough. 😊 Good feedback 👍
2007 fz6 ??
2008 👍 Fz6 s2
Which year is that ?
2008👍
Do you still go by this or have things changed?
Still go by it. Still have the bike as my only bike. No plans to sell 👍 I do have 2 videos on my channel outlining a few annoying things about the bike too however
@@FabMotorbikes ahh thats cool, only ask as im looking at possibly getting one when I eventually pass these tests so like to get opinions from people who have them, cheers.
hey I am new to this kind of stuff can anybody tell me what does S2 stands for?ty
Generally the ‘S’ means ‘sports’ or ‘with fairing’. However more specifically in regards to the FZ6 there were 2 versions. The S1 (2004 - 2006) and the S2 (2007 and above). The changes were not huge and were for the most part aesthetic. But did include some mechanical changes too.
@@FabMotorbikes ty a lot bro cause I am thinking of buying it.
No problem. Excellent I’d recommend them they’re brilliant. Get an S2 if you can but S1’s are still great.
What is the in city MPG?
Not brilliant from what I remember 40MPG. Improves a huge amount in the open road and on tours
Not brilliant from what I remember 40MPG. Improves a huge amount in the open road and on tours
I bought an electric blue one brand new in 2009.
The mid range was absolutely awful.
I part exchanged a honda 600 and regretted it straight away.
The mid range is not great… but if you know what you’re dealing with, and are happy to play around the gear box the engine is a peach
Why in the heck is the resale value so low on them? Its like the most hidden value bike ever made. Got an 08 , compared to price new , almost got it for free😃
I know what you mean. I not 100% sure... I guess it’s a no frills simple bike... teamed with the rise of smaller capacity bikes that have more focus on low end useable torque over top end power, it makes this even more outdated in the eyes of the market. I’m so glad I got one though. Solid piece of kit 👍
where did you buy belly pan to it?
Hi Adam. This is the one I have.
Red fox belly pan: www.red-fox.com/belly-pans/yamaha-fz6-fazer-s2-07-belly-pans
You know what im just looking at it. Is it decent quality? Great videos by the way... i have 57 plate s2 in same colour as yours. Well done!
It’s is good quality in terms of the materials. However it doesn’t fit 100% perfectly. And takes some persuasion to get on. And does fit a bit too close to the radiator pipe on the left hand side of the bike. But since it’s been on there... I’ve not had any issues with it.
Thank you 🙏 I’m glad you enjoy the videos. 👍👍
Nice vídeo bro.
I’m juste want ask you for some adevise. I found 1 in internet with 44603 km, year 2006 and the price 2895 €
You thing that is good deal?
Hi there. I feel that may be a little expensive. To give you an idea. I paid that price for a 2008 perfect condition bike with full service history and 25,000km on the clock.
Thank you so much for your Feedback.
I will think about it
The deal is good but inspect it. 44k bikes should not look like 60 or 70 ones.
Is this bike a2 compliant
Yes it is if you have a restriction kit installed
I don't believe this bike can be ridden on an A2 license in the UK.
Point being A2 is restricted to 35Kw, and you're only allowed to 'restrict' by up to 50% of the bikes power to comply. The FZ6 makes 73 KW, so that would be 36.5Kw.
It's worth checking further, as if you did somehow manage, the insurance company would refuse to insure for an A2 license holder?
I'm half sold vs FZ1
I’d also recommend my video on 5 annoying things about this bike. Poor low end torque is something g the FZ1 solves in comparison
What about petrol consumption ?
This varies quite a lot. In my experience it can be quite poor in heavy traffic. But excellent on the open road and on tours. Do you you have an Fz6?
Fab Motorbikes Making my motorcylcle license at the moment and not quite sure yet, which bike i'm going to get. I'm really indecisive, but the fazer 600 is definately on my list.
I would recommend it. Just be careful with the top end power, it can catch you off guard. But you will get used to it quickly.
Fab Motorbikes Have been riding a KTM Duke 125 so far. So i do have some years of experience riding a bike. I do like the Duke, so the 390 would be an option as well. My Dad is riding a 1200ccm Yamaha and never had any troubles, so the Fazer is definately worth a try.
Go for it. I had a Suzuki gs500f as my first bigger bike. It worked well for me but Yamaha’s in general are better bikes in my opinion.
