- Although I prefer being in the great outdoors, there are times when all travelers encounter bad weather and are stuck inside their trailer. As many people wonder how an A-frame camper performs in bad weather, here's a summary of my own experiences.

I like your attitude. There is beauty everywhere.
I really appreciate the way you save up footage to create a video that covers a subject over a long period of time. Well done.
I always loved cloudy, rainy days....
This video is the absolute best REALITY TV. And when you crawl into bed, cozy, warm & dry, in bad weather you'll sleep like a log. You've got it made inside your A-Liner compared to our forefathers as they traveled in their covered wagons. You can enjoy a hot meal, a piping hot cup of coffee, be warm & comfy while it is cold, wet, & windy OUTSIDE>
AZ: Not to rain on your parade but should the weather get bad enough...it is impossible to sleep. In some rigs...the rain noise alone will keep a person up. Carry ear plugs for sure.
@@geraldhenrickson7472 I have a Ford E250 Cargo Van that I've converted into an insulated camper. I have a hearing loss & know when rain is pounding on my van, but its muffled. You're right about ear plugs being needed some times.
I love hearing rain fall ^
@@antoniofatboy5635 I'm one of those people that seems to sleep better than ever when I hear the rain pounding on the top of my van.
I love the sound of rain, wind, thunder etc,. I go to sleep w/ nature sounds: thunder, rain, blizzards, etc. sound recordings. :)
Thanks Slim.... I love a good storm...
I love the rain! I love seeing your laptop on the table, with the rain outside! I plan my camping trips around the rain, meaning I plan to camp in the rain! I love the sound of the rain, even monsoons, in my camper van, watching youtubes or netflix, playing guitar, writing stories, or drawing! For me there's nothing better, and being around my doggos! Cooking good meals, just enjoying my solitude. I like your aliner!
I always enjoy your videos! You do such a great job showing us nature and all it has to offer. I would spend my rainy days drawing or painting...art is my thing! Thanks for sharing!
I can't be the only one who loves "bad weather". Is there a snow storm? Yep, just let me survive in it!
Likewise. 🤣👍
I like bad weather as well
Wow, you put more planning into your excellent videos than any other creator. Really well done! Safe travels.🙂 -Mark
I agree mark 😊
So the times indoirs you did some planning to have segments to weave into this great videio. Kudos to your freedom and ability to share with us. Thanks, Slim
Safe travels. Enjoyed this video. Grear planning and editing.
I see no heat
Excellent video! Hopefully you never get hit by a tornado or hurricane. Hurricanes can be avoided, but tornadoes, not so much. I am glad I subscribed to your channel! 👍👍👍 (I don't give three thumbs up very often.)
Some of my favourite lullaby music is the sound of rain on my Sprinter's tin roof. Snuggled up in bed, you can't beat it. Wind, however.... not so much. :) Great stuff, SPH. Much appreciated.
Beautiful. I am reminded of this Rumi quote:
"Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment"
Appreciate what nature has to offer.
Love your offerings!
that was awesome. When I camp I love the rainy days, it makes me settle in and meditate!
The amount of work that you had to go through and vast clips of videos for all types of weather and situation accumulated here shows how much dedication you have put in here. Thank you.
Good Video Slim. I really like your positive attitude. I like to say, a bad day of camping/traveling, is better then a good day at work. Cheers from Michigan.
Something great when its cold , windy and rainy outside but you are warm and wrapped up inside with only the rain noise to keep you company . love it
Looks like great weather for a "senior nap". Nothing better to hunkering down under the covers when rain is pouring on the roof, and the wind is howling. Love it, and our 30' class A motorhome handles it well.
You enjoy your lifestyle regardless of the weather, safe travels.😀
I have always loved stormy, windy days. As long as one can be warm and cozy, it's the best. When camping, I always hope for at least one day of rain and wind.
Catching up on all your videos and this is one of the best I've watched. The seamless transitions from scene to scene and from location to location is astounding! Your narration is at a calm pace and not rushed, you let us soak in your experiences with you. A truly extraordinary gift, thank you.
Thanks for sharing this thoughtful post, Mr. Slim :) Amazing how even Mother Nature's bad weather days can also be as beautiful!!! Safe travels and Good weather days to you
I've said it several times before, and I'll say it again: your videos inspire me sooo much! I have so many new ideas for my camper just from this video! Also, if you're really a star trek fan then I applaud your taste sir! Just imagine cosmic camping in a shuttlecraft
Love the rain nothing better then sitting in and relaxing.night time is my favourite when it’s raining
Your story telling is a gift. Love the nature photography in all of your videos. Thank you!
"Sometimes things get worse and not better"...God I love that quote..seems like that's always the way it is. Thanks for the video..very informative and entertaining. Not many of the CZcamsrs have ever done a weather video and it's very important to be aware.
Best channel out there. Your sense of wonderment at Nature helps me to appreciate things too. Thanks for the lovely videos.
Love how you can take a positive look at even bad weather.
Very poetic ending with a positive spin on the weather! Many Thanks for another homer!
Nice realistic video. It's a great feeling to go to sleep in a van or camper of almost any type and to know you're going to stay dry all night. When I'm falling asleep in my camper I think about the thousands of generations of people who slept outside and got wet when it rained. It's a comforting thought knowing I'll stay dry!
I love your little home! You seem very safe and cozy in there. Fantastic views.
Fantastic! Sometimes the bad weather is the best part of a trip. I love the sound of rain on a tent, or these days on a pop up camper. Woke up to 4 inches of snow at Great Basin National Park in March and loved it. Thanks for sharing.
I’m laughing one minute and crying and awe struck the next. Magnificent video Slim.
Living in Canada, I've traveled through all sorts of ugly weather. It's no picnic, but it does make you respect mother nature's temper. Sometimes, the best thing to do is to simply watch in awe. Furthermore, without bad weather, some of your videos wouldn't be as adventurous as they are.
Good on you for emphasizing the critical importance of good tires!
Another beautiful, quality video. Loved it! Thankyou for your efforts. It shows.
Exceptional photography! I enjoy your videos because they are very real and informative. I don’t know what you do for a living but your engineering skills can’t be beat. You have such enginuity when you create things like your stove or find fixes for things. You truly are a Macgyver!
I love these videos it must be so relaxing being in the trailer when it rains by yourself
Another excellent video! Being from the Southwestern U. S., I love a good rainstorm, even snow - but what worries me is the wind. I appreciate your advice about tires. You did a beautiful segue with music and scenery into appreciating the beauty of the earth after a storm. Many thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos.
Bubble wrap is the best insulator for windows & cold sufaces. Even better doubled up. attach with tape or anything.
I love your narrative videos your voice is soothing and the footage is amazing!
Once again BRAVO!!! This is definitely rewatch material.
Two thumbs way way way up Slim 👍👍.
Thanks for your attention to the quality of your content, editing, audio, and message. One of the more watchable, and yet not too 'slick', channels out there.
Haven't seen anyone else do a video on bad weather. Thanks so much for showing the other side of van life. Love the honesty. I do love raining days
Useful information. I can't believe someone did a thumbs down. Thank you for always showing us both sides. Your video's are beautiful
Not to worry. I suspect it's a bot! Thanks, SP
I would say some dude who spent 100k on his setup thumbs this down
Either that slim, or someone who'd upset or jealous of you.
This is the wholesome content I needed in my life right now.
Slim, another great video. I always say, "A bad day camping is better than a good day at the office!" Live long and prosper.
Thank you for this amazingly beautiful video. I love all kinds of inclement weather! I love the sounds and smells of rain. Thunder is musi to my ears. Some may find it bothersome and even threatening but it makes me want to hunker down under a big fluffy comforter and enjoy the show! I used to have a CD of thunderstorm sounds. The speakers I had then were big with a woofer that could make thunder rattle pictures on the walls. It was awesome. Again, thanks for this!
Your lifestyle actually is one of the best seeing what you have posted. I also like your video diaries, how you write them, there is a bit of everything relating to the subject. I don't own an A-liner but I do enjoy the travels and places that you venture. Great job on the life, on the road. Thanks for the videos.
Outstanding on so many levels...thank you for all the time and attention to the details you put into each video. Your words bring me to a place of quiet introspection...thanks, I needed the break from the noise! Journey mercies.
Hi Slim, I have a 2015 ALiner Scout, Park Model. I truly appreciate your videos and all the creative ideas you have for the Aliner. I am an 83 year old woman and I have pulled my Aliner at least 10,000 miles in the Western States, alone, with zero problems. Hooking up, backing up, and setting up is no problem. I do ot boondock alone. Your videos are so well done and informative. Thank you! Murphy
Thanks Marian, glad to hear you are getting good use on your Aliner. I typically stop and say hello when I see one, so maybe we'll meet some day! SP
I love the sound of rain on the roof of my pop up. The only thing I get slightly worried about (like another commenter mentioned) is the wind and it blowing a tree over onto my camper. That would sure ruin the fun in a hurry.
Great video! I enjoyed seeing you and your rig weather the various storms. Plus the fact that you smiled the whole way through. Thanks for the honesty, tips, and fun! Safe travels.
I live near the Aliner plant. They build a VERY nice rig. I have toured the plant and bought some scratch /dent accessories. I am a wood/metal fabricator and designer.....they know what they are doing. Almost no wood in their RV..just few interior supports...mostly fiberglass sheets, aluminum, and foam insulation. Nothing to rot or deteriorate. I worked for a troubled teen camp and spent 200 days a year in a sleeping bag. We drove all over the US, Canada, and even Mexico City (climb the volcanos) ....I know weather extremes. You could always guy off the trailer from the peaks down to the ground. That would make a huge difference. I see they are doing a lot of tear drop styles as well...they are staged in the parking lot. R
I love to watch the power and beauty of nature and weather. Thanks Slim.
Good stuff! Love to see more winter vids. Big fan of them. Thanks
This one was top notch! I try to enjoy all that nature brings us. The extremes are just more exciting to me. The sounds of a storm in a secure shelter are amoung the most pleasant of experiences.
I'm waiting for PBS to pick-up your future 30 minute TV show, with the possible title of: "Reflections From an Aframe Camper".
Nothing more relaxing than a cold rainy day camping, as long as its in a travel trailer and not a wet tent!
I just love these adventures with slim, calm, interesting, I love the conversational bits.
Rain is truly the most life-giving-preserving element nature produces. Emerging from Australia's long, long drought conditions and horrific fire season has provided me a super timely reminder about water. I'm so glad your channel popped up on my radar as I'm looking to find a small Tab like RV my introverted self will feel totally comfortable in and travel my beautiful continent one day. You are such a lovely presenter.
Thanks Jane, both for the compliment and your positive attitude in a trying time. I hope you find that trailer soon! SP
You really should have your own wildlife/nature tv show. Awesome video 👍
You put a lot of thought, and time into this video and it shows. Beautifully done Sir. Here I am at my boring 9-5 desk job and I'm soooooo jealous of you and your travels. hopefully someday soon I'll be on that same dusty trail enjoying some travels.
Lots of good advice here and it took a lot of forethought to collect all those bad weather shots! Quite a big collection! Some day Aliner should do something about the noise in the rain...plus ours leaks at the peak in wind-driven rain.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Especially with A Frame trailer. It is beautiful and inspiring!
your devotion to documenting lifestyles in an A Liner are exceptional. ALiner should sponsor you and get you in a 2018 A liner with slideouts.
More of these please sir. Especially with the rain. Amazing
I love the rain. We don’t get enough of it in Perth, Western Australia, so when we got our first Autumn rains the other night, a bit of urban camping was required. We have a fair bit of bushland in the suburbs, including a nice spot near my house. You have some good content. Thanks.
Starting to really like this channel man. It's a lot *less* pretentious, and a lot *more* wholesome and entertaining then other similar channels.
What a great video. I love weather and have learned lots from you. Thank you
I look so forward to your videos. Loved this one.
Wow...stunning images there!
I love to hunker down in my RV and watch Mother Nature dish out a good lightning and thunder and rain storm.
Simply beautiful !
Your photographs are very beautiful...........stunningly so!
I like extreme weather and no matter how bad it gets..............embrace it.....don't try to hide from it. It was really nice to see your attitude in bad weather and what you said at the end...."Rather than complain about the weather, marvel at nature's aerial ballet".
I subscribed.
Nice wish I was there I love foul weather. Keep up the good work (which is play)
Slim, I wanted to turn you on to, Tim Harrell ,on CZcams . He puts trail cameras up in the everglades and records animal activity. Different from you, but, I think you will enjoy. Enjoy your videos immensely !
Got to say Slim you are an all weather camper..great to see ...and always enjoy your videos and that Aliner of yours.
I love how you keep the camera safe inside and go outside for your shots. So tired of others using weather as an excuse not to do something. I learned in japan with 2 rainy seasons you either adapt to the weather or be bored out of your skull.
Inspirational. Thank you.
You really do a great job making videos of your travels. Thanks so much for your attention to detail, your eye for beauty, and for sharing your journey.
love the ending of this video. nature is sooo beautiful.. thanks for sharing
Great video and a good message. Enjoy living vicariously through your trips.
I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for putting the time into them for our enjoyment. Excellent work!!
In my book, Slim, your wonderful videos are right up there with my childhood National Geographic magazines. 😊
The impending clouds of doom! Haha...yup.. Respect those clouds.
So well done! The poetic part was especially good.
love your videos. So inspiring!
Wow, such beauty, thanks! Let it rain -- water is LIFE!
Seen 11 April 19
You definitely have a unique way of camping.
The company that makes your trailer needs you as a spokesman.
Thumbs up 👍 from Los Angeles California USA 🇺🇸
Great, relevant wisdom here for dealing with some of the camping blues. Your perspective, experience, and advice has helped me. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your travels. Have been enjoying each one.
Great video slim!! I really appreciate you video's, your optimism and appreciation for nature! Hope you do many more.
I did 4 months on the road last year. Near "The Wave" in northern Arizona, the sleet froze me into my camper. Luckily the morning sun thawed me out before I pissed my way out.
Later, in Washington a microburst knocked over dozens of trees. Again, I was lucky and missed it by several miles. Or actually, it missed me.
Beautiful!
I absolutely loved your video you made me that just enjoy your trips out in nature and have fun out with you along the way. Thank you so much for this beautiful piece of work I look forward to your next videos.
Beautiful. Thanks.
I really appreciate your in-depth presentations of life on the road. It will never be possible for me to ever get to experience such adventures; your videos actually give me a 'feel' to what you are experiencing. I know I would love the rain and a good book... I'd sleep like a baby out there.
More stuck in stormy weather videos please. They’re great 👍
beautifully done video!
Fantastic video, as always. Just love your content, perspective, ingenuity, tenacity and mostly your love of nature. Stunning photography as well Slim! Thank you! I hope to someday meet you on the road, it would be a real treat :-)
