  • @3DPDK
    @3DPDK Před 4 lety

    Wow that was fast. As a retired fiberglass tech I'll say - 2:40 That's why you pay a professional glass man to do the work, so you don't end up with a patch that looks like rough painted canvas or a cratered Moonscape. Now, as someone who lives on a boat I have a feeling you will find the non-insulated interior of the sink enclosure will be a condensation trap when camping in the winter. It *will* create a temperature barrier between the interior and outside shell, but any warm moist air that gets into the enclosure will end up condensing on the cold surface of the outer shell. I have a hanging closet on my boat. It has a teak door, and clothing hanging inside that all act effectively as a barrier to the cold, non insulated back wall, which is the exterior skin of the boat. Mostly during Jan, Feb and into March, that back wall looks like the inside of a shower stall. It is always dripping wet, constantly running water into the bottom of the closet. It drains into the bilge so standing water is not the problem for me, but it becomes a problem with mold and mildew if I don't periodically wipe the back wall down with chlorine water. A simple layer of regular home construction type (like R3) fiberglass insulation has corrected the problem for me this winter. I don't notice any savings on heating expense, but there has been no condensation to deal with. If you begin to small a moldy, musty smell, the sink enclosure is probably the culprit.

    We recently bought an Aliner. You were our Aliner guru, and your videos helped us purchase one. We have been out 3x to a local park near our home (20 min away) for dry runs. First night, at 4:30a, left the Aliner, went home and returned that afternoon. Just too uncomfortable. We are slowing making it our own. Our tow vehicle is an all wheel drive Ford Edge V6 with a 3500 lb max (realistic tow is 2800 lbs all in). Aliner is perfect for us now. MidAtlantic east coast US, we could not find a camper until we found your videos on the Aliner. We are devoted fans and you will continue to be our travel/camp guru because we truly enjoy your videos and learn something from every one you post. If I live long enough (mid 70s now), we may change our vehicle and move to an Egg. I have always like them, just too heavy for us now. We wiil "cut our teeth" with the Aliner and your videos. Happy travels!

    I must dispute the 4 SEASON trailer analogy. I have a Northwood Nash 4 season camper. This is much thicker insulation and walls than most campers. I had done fulltime in snow, heat etc. They live in these campers year round in Montana, Wyoming etc. The floor was vented and heated, a/c kept the heat out and a/c did not run constantly. Northwood Artic Fox/Nash with dual pane windows for the 4 season. Just saying....many of my friends live all year long in a Artic Fox in Montana.

      This. Some also means there are air conditioner, and heater. In short, you can use it in any season. You might want to be connected (like at RV park) to seriously use the air conditioner (or at least as beefy generator). In short, it means the waterline is in the inside, warmed with the heater.
      It might cost you a lot in diesel generator fuel or rv campground fee - but for some this is required (those that do winter sport for example). So yeah, 4 season rated is actually a thing.

      Yes, naming "it" will be a challenge. Chances are the "Outback" logo on the front will be covered by a solar panel so don't need to change what exists (although "Ootback" came to mind). Abner was a guy for sure, but is the new one male or female? Seems I am reducing the feminine qualities of the trailer. A little conversion therapy! "Eggner"? "Eggatha Christie? Eggsplicit, Eggsplorer, Eggshell Rose (reference to Axl Rose)?. Open to suggestions. Thanks! SP
