Wiki: The Temple of Artemis or Artemision , also known less precisely as the Temple of Diana, was a Greek temple dedicated to an ancient, local form of the goddess Artemis. It was located in Ephesus . It was completely rebuilt three times, and in its final form was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. By 401 AD it had been ruined or destroyed. Only foundations and fragments of the last temple remain at the site.
I have a deep love of ancient history and its such a shame that all that remains of this once magnificient building are just a few stones and a pillar. Most of the ancient wonders are sadly gone and we will never see their beauty as the ancients did..

@@EveryoneElseIsWeirdImNormal the Greeks were embarrassed by their ridiculous tales well before Paul came to Ephesus. The damage to the Temple was done by Herodotus then it was razed by pagan Goths in the third century after the Son of God was hanged on a tree so you might be saved.

It’s easier to learn things you’re interested in, specially when the people you have chosen to learn from (or decided to watch on CZcams more accurately 😉) have an enthusiasm for the topic and draw much better pictures with their words and encourage others with that energy and wisdom.
Sadly teachers of today (although some do try I’ve no doubt) are more likely to have chosen teaching as a job to earn a living rather than having chosen it as a passion to encourage young people to learn and guide them on interesting and exciting paths for life. The “old school” (forgive the pun) although somewhat strict, would often set the young people they taught on a path through encouragement and wonder.
Just to reiterate there are some great teachers today, I don’t want anybody thinking otherwise, I just fear people are out for themselves more these days than they are the future generations.

The temple was 137 m long, by 69 m wide. A typical football field is around 100 m length. Imagine a temple of massive size, bigger than a football field. It would have been a majestic sight.
I love Artemis Artemis is my favorite Greek goddess if I could go back through time the first thing I would do is go back through time when the temple of Artemis was still around she’s the coolest most beautiful goddess ever it’s a shame that the Temple of Artemis is not around today I hope one day we could go back through time and see the old wonders of the world 😊

The temple was founded by the Amazons? I find that hard to believe given that they are a mythical people and the Temple is an actual place. Also, isn't it meant to have been founded by Croesus of Lydia? If you go by the ancient sources.

I think the amazons have been much exaggerated through out history. They might actually have been a group of women warriors in nomadic tribes, spread throughout Asia Minor and Central Asia. They might have fought the Greeks and the Roman’s when their empires reached their borders. But I don’t think these women warriors fought legendary Greek hero’s like Hercules and had a magic belt etc like the stories said.
Some source saying the amazon of the myth is actually nomadic tribe around scythia. My be greek at that time shock by the fact theres some random group of woman warior and the story get exagerated
My grandma said she had that blood line which would be very insanely rare. But she was also part Greek and a gypsy........so who knows. I'm the last in the family now.

I went there when I was like 10 and it was just an empty lot with one large pillar, a few large rocks and the whole place had legit zero tourists.

You forgot to mention this is where Julius Caesar sent Cleopatra’s sister Arsinoe to live after he defeated her Egyptian army in Alexandria. Cleopatra had her strangled to death on the steps of this temple through Mark Antony years later.
It’s pretty common knowledge Arsinoe was exiled there, that’s the only reason why I know about this place.

I’m from Turkey and the main reason why ancient buildings didn’t survive is Turkey and many countries around Mediterranean are earthquake countries. If a building’s left by people (if it’s stopped being used) it will slowly collapse because of earthquakes that constantly happen. Buildings require constant care in Turkey. And it is hard to keep a building on +100 columns alive in a shaky soil. It was poorly planned.
So would there be no point in rebuilding the temple today?
III Pagan temples are left alone (And got attacked in the first centuries of Christianity) after Christianity. The temple’s architecture was stunning but was poorly planned (There were too many pillars) and needed a constant care. So when it lost all of its believers, no one repaired it. Cities and buildings were collapsing or getting damaged during ancient times too. They were always repairing and rebuilding. That fact also led Anatolian architecture to develop and always build better. I’d abso visit it if rebuilt.
Many ancient heritage collapsed in Anatolia because of major earhquakes. If interested you can search for “Ani Ruins” it was a big city until the earthquake in 1605. Then people died or the ones stayed alive left the city and it is now a ruin. (One of my favourites)

Known less precisely as the Temple of Diana, dedicated to an ancient, local form of the goddess Artemis (associated with Diana, a Roman goddess). As during the Roman period, the goddess took on some Roman features. Most noticeably, she was increasingly called “Diana”, the Roman name for both the Ephesian and Greek Artemises.. Also mentioned in the bible Acts 19:26,27. Were the Apostle Paul tells the Ephesians that the true God is not made with hands as Diana of the Ephesians was, but rather created the hands of men to raise toward heaven, worshiping the true God.

Turkish people definitely have Greek blood. In fact from the genetic tests I’ve seen Greeks and Turks are almost identical genetically, they very much overlap.
The FST score between Greeks and Turks (on average) is only 0.001
Compare Greeks to French and Basque: 0.007, 0.014 (respectively)
This means the genetic difference between a Frenchman and a Greek is 7x as much as the difference between a Greek and a Turkish person. Keep in mind that Europeans are quite homogenous to begin with, so for that difference to be 7 times as much means that Greeks and Turks are very very close to each other. Both sides need to stop conflicting with each other and realize they’re actually brothers and come from the same culture.
