don't hold your breath
I agree and redo Cairo to what it looked like thousands of years ago.
The hanging gardens of Babylon is quite fascinating and highly debated amongst historians, scholars, and archeologists. One of the most convincing theories, imo, is that they did in fact exist, but were in Nineveh
The pyramids are still to me surprising how they can build such a great structure with ancient technology ,the limestones will look like some alien structure back then, and the other wonders were amazing too
That's nothing compared to what Ancient Sumerians/Babylonians has invented. They invented a working fountain ⛲. And that is what we use now, but they are made possible with engines. They also invented the Time/Calender which is also what we use everyday in our daily life. Not to mention, they also invented the writing system called "Cuneiform". Oh, and also, they invented Maths and Geometry. Last, but not least, they invented the first laws. They were technically more advance than the Egyptians.
@@ohshoot6082 They didn't invent math/geometry, the same concepts were getting popular around the world at the same time. Like Vedic maths and science( in India). But Babylonians were for sure, were really creative and talented than most.
@@ohshoot6082 The ancient Mayans may have had enough engineering know-how to master running water, creating fountains and even toilets by controlling water pressure, scientists now suggest. Tenochtitlan, the capital city of the Aztecs had one main aqueduct that ran twenty miles. It flowed in two channels, one being cleaned and maintained, and one to keep a constant flow of water. It flowed into public fountains where it was then delivered in clay pots to the workers and civilians. The Mayan calendar was extremely accurate, and the calculations of Maya priests were so precise that their calendar correction is 10,000th of a day more exact than the standard calendar the world uses today(Gregorian calendar), of all the ancient calendar systems, the Maya and other Mesoamerican systems are the most complex and intricate. Scholars now recognize that writing may have independently developed in at least four ancient civilizations: Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and lowland areas of Mesoamerica. More than a millennium before it was introduced into Europe as part of the Hindu-Arabic number system the Maya were using a zero as a placeholder in their calendar system. The Maya (and the earlier cultures from which they inherited their number and calendar systems) were using a zero in this way long before it came into use in European mathematics, and probably even before its use in South-East Asia. Mayan mathematics were more advanced than the Greeks and 15th century Europeans when it came to mathematics.
We had to study the Temple of Artemis in architecture school. The details of the columns, size, how it had to be built is so crazy. The entire building is not square. It just looks square due to the size. It’s actually curved and the columns are bowed out and some are closer together and farther apart. To give the look of it being a square.
extremely fascinating!

@@NghiaLe-so1kr 🤣🤣🤣
Funny story
When some of the soldiers did show up to dismantled the statue of Zeus to return it to Rome one of them tapped it with a wooden mallet and all the rats that had built a nest inside began to scamper and screech and it sounded as if the statue cackled and laughed at them so he got scared and ran away and then emperor died.
You got to understand we're talking probably a 1000 rats that it built a nest inside the statue and only came out at night and hid inside of it during the day.
Quite the metaphor for religion as a whole shiny and beautiful and grand on the outside and full of rats on the inside.
Pyramids of giza are a true work of art , still standing for 2500 years while others all were destroyed.
Non greeks: How many of the 7 ancient wonders of the world have you built?
Greeks: yes
Interesting to see simularities between these structures and some of the locations in Game of Thrones. Lighthouse of Alexandria (The high tower in Old town), Colossus of Rhodes (Titan of Braavos)
Martin has said he took a lot from the real world and turned it up to 1000. The Wall is based on Hadrian's wall on the english/scotish border. Casterly Rock is inspired by the Rock of Gibraltar. We could do this all day :)
Why is ancient architecture 1000x times better than anything built today?

They always bring the example of love by telling the tales of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who build Taj Mahal in remembrance of his dead wife Mumtaz but we need to bring the story of the king Nebuchadnezzar ||, he did build the garden while his wife Immitis who was still alive on that time.. Just wow! He deserves more credit than any other lover from the ancient world.
The gardens is what fascinates me the most. Along with the pyramids. Wish the gardens were still there or we knew more about them
It probably wasn’t in Babylon. Something like it was probably in Nineveh, the earlier Assyrian capital. Nineveh was called in ancient sources Babylon or New Babylon, so that’s probably where the confusion came. Still, Mesopotamian culture and architecture fascinates me too.
The pyramids fascinate me the most, due to us simply not knowing what they were really for, how they were built, or when. They're one of the only fantastical mysteries left in this world.
Your right if was possible I would have visited it
its so cool, like the agriculture and the transport of water is fascinating
What happened to the garden?
If I could go back in time it would be to see the hanging gardens of Babylon. Also...I would like to see gilgamesh and his best friend enkidu. I'd also like to see the library of Alexandria
The hanging gardens of Babylon was actually built by the ancient Assyrian empire.Ancient Greeks confused the two kingdoms. That’s why the Babylonians have no mention of “the hanging gardens of Babylon “.
You should read history in a more careful fashion. There are 5 different theories. Yours is just one of them.
I would give to go back in time to see these places. Especially the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

I find the older 7 wonders better than what we have today
Our building today are built more in terms of quality and effectiveness then for beauty. While many ancient civilisations would look down our society culture and freedom(remember there are from time when slavery, racism, sexist and much more was deem righteous) I have no doubt that would find our technology and it’s advancements as mind bending wonders. But then again it is human nature to romanticise the past.
Yes.. These were the wonders i used to know when i was in highschool althought most of them arent existing... I mean the pyramids are the only surviving..
Considering that Saladin lived during the 12th century, I find it very difficult to believe that his son tried to destroy the pyramids in the 10th century...
The possible reason that the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is not as popular as the other wonders are because the king and queen buried within it were also brother and sister.
