    Artemis did not just make a vow of chastity from the pain of childbirth that her mother endured, but also because while Leto was still giving birth to Apollo, Zeus actually came to them, not to see the birth, rather to hide from Hera’s wrath due to finding another one of his infidelities. Artemis was appalled by her father’s actions while her mother was right there in pain, hence her hatred for men

    With the case of Niobie, I always heard that not that her children were more beautiful than Leto's twins but that she boasted that because she gave birth to more children at one time therefore she was better than Leto which enraged Leto and the Twins.

    • @Raiseflag_Surrender
      @Raiseflag_Surrender Před 4 lety +32

      Not only that but Niobie boasted about how she was more of a mother than Leto ever was, 'cause she had more children then her and the whole city where Niobie lived started cursing and mocking Leto and her twin godchildren. Then Leto got so depressed she couldn't eat and sleep so Artemis and Apollo asked about the cause of her grief. Crying, Leto told them about Niobie and her attitude towards gods in general and Leto in particular. Then Apollo and Artemis swiftly flew from Olympus with weapons in their hands, while Niobie was having a feast dedicated in her name, where she boasted how she shamed Leto and how she was greater mother than any goddess. Then swiftly Apollo and Artemis appeared and made themselves invisible and had two big bows in their hands and many arrows. Then suddenly the children of Niobie started to fall, pierced by the arrows, while Niobie started to scream and in her rage she cursed the twin gods, saying that even though six of her children had already fallen dead, she still had more children than their mother Leto. At last the twin gods killed all her children but the youngest one. The youngest child cried and tried to hide beneath the mother's garment and Niobie repented loudly, crying and praying to Apollo and Artemis to spare her youngest child. Moved by pity Apollo stayed his hand and Artemis tried to do it too but due to the accidental mistake - the last arrow swiftly flew and killed the last of Niobie's children. Paralyzed by grief, Niobie watched her last child die and slowly she began to turn into stone figure - first the lowest part of her garment, then the legs, torso and then the arms and the head. But, though she had turned into stone, Niobie still had one small part of humanity left - her stone eyes still produced tears and so she stood there - all her guests gone, all her children slain and wept for eternity, unable to stop. Аpollo and Artemis soon returned to their mother and celebrated the victory.
      So yes, in the myth, Niobie is portrayed as a proud narcissist who cared not for her children and only in the moment of death she realized that her pride was her downfall. Apollo and Artemis are still portrayed as cruel but not sadistic, they could have spared both Niobie and her children.

      No - Athena would be Wonder Woman - Goddess of Strategic War, Wisdom. Sword, Shield, Spear
      Wonder Woman's personality matches Athena's much more too - logic and reason before 'violence' but won't hold back if things need to happen that way.
