Dorking Wanderers owner and manager Marc White says the decision to scrap FA Cup replays from next season is a "significant loss" for English football.
The FA Cup will no longer have replays from the first round proper with fixtures now set to be played exclusively on weekends.
The FA and the Premier League revealed they have reached a new agreement for a minimum of six years to "strengthen" the competition with "new and exclusive calendar windows".

And there you have it: "ask any owner of a Championship team or below whether they are in favour of ditching replays and they would say absolutely not." Great point too, Mark, about neutral venues for FA Cup semi-finals.
How do we, the fans, get a U-turn on this disgraceful decision?
The big teams don't want more games so want the fa cup replays scrapped but don't say nothing when there's more games in the champions league. The corruption is unreal
Don't compare this trash to the Champions League!!
Good point
Replays were bloody ridiculous and the bigger teams were in advantage going into a replay

My solution. Just do qualifiers the month leading into thw big tournaments.
Also top 16 teams qualify automatically as seeds.
Replays should NOT be scrapped!!
So wrong on smaller clubs 🤦♀️
Scrap international friendlies
Just scrap these knee bending Hypocrits and deduct points if they support BLM.
So not for the smaller countries like Cambodia and Barbados? Might be a decent idea if the big countries don't play as much.
The changes have come around for the increased games in Europe. 700 teams participate in the FA cup. They’ve changed it for 6 teams?
UEFA could scrap games if they feel it’s congested!
Elf teams play 46 league games a year + cup games. The big 6 haven’t a leg to stand on, especially given their larger squads and youth set ups
So the only teams who benefit are the very biggest in the pyramid, yet everyone else suffers? That’s not elitist at all
Fine scrap second legs and replays. However, the games are only played in the smaller teams venues that need the income
It actually benefits them more going away to big stadiums, as the ticket revenue gets split 50/50. This has been the rule, not sure if that’s changing as well though?
Why no just get the "bigger" team to pay a lower team a fee.
Example:
PLvsPL = zero
PLvsChamionship = £20,000
PLvsLeague1 = £40,000
PLvsLeague2 = £80,000
PLvsNon-League = £120,000
or whatever the FA deems the going rate!!!
@@jackreynolds975 was going to say this. They could allocate 50/50 fans and the. They would take more money
@@simonh2011 That is what they’ve done in the past, maybe give the smaller club the option to choose home or away would help guarantee more income.
Thats stupid, its not about small teams with a 200 capacity

Why dont they do replays up too round 3 everyone wins then
Isn’t it round 5 where the big clubs join ?
@@mrmeeseeks2534 No all premier league and championship teams join in round 3
Because the replays against the big clubs are important. Not the replays against non league teams....
The extra kicker is keeping replays in the qualifying rounds. These are generally not lucrative for non league teams until maybe the fourth qualifying round.
Think it is scandalous ,only chance for small clubs to make decent money
Removing replays is to keep the Premier League sweet, who's main focus is the title and Champions League
FA Cup the oldest cup competition in football in history and they want to shaft it.. The replays are brilliant for the game. now i get for the bigger clubs they play
alot of football. but if the top teams have to play they're second string teams so be it. but if they up the 25man squad and its also means youth also get a chance
then that's what you have to do..
Losing TV money and possible lucrative replays from the 1st round onwards is an absolute stinker for lower clubs. What I dont get though is still having replays from the early rounds, there is a lot of potential travelling for non league clubs midweek, for hardly any gate money in the preliminary and qualifying round replays, which are usually played 3 days after the original date, so not much notice for the players to get time off work etc.
Should have scrapped it from the 3rd round (when prem teams are involved), which in turn would help the lower level clubs add revenue by playing atleast some more fixtures
Still takes away the opportunity for small clubs to have a massive replay away at a top premier league club so effectively that would be the same problem
@frankiehullett4881 the fair way would be, the lower ranked team in the table at the time gets to pick home or away (when premier clubs are introduced)
Wanna have a ago at your own place or take the money and try steal it away
Lower teams need the games against the big clubs, thats where the money is
Crazy decision it takes away the sparkle and jeopardy from the FA Cup just to placate the premier league.
Marc did well not to lose it at the 4th official during this interview!
the issue is the 25 player registration rules - im not saying they should be scrapped, but i do think that each competition should be individual. right now, the same 25 players are chosen for a league and 2 knockout cups
if each team could register different players - to a max of 25 of course - for different competitions, the teams that are playing in Europe can then decide how they manage that - do they have larger squads? - do they promote from their academies?
no excuse then
Bang on mate
I agree that ditching replays is bad, but this is making it sound like teams rely on replays which is absolutely not the case. They are a nice-to-have if you’re lucky enough to get in that position.
He's not saying clubs rely on replays, he's merely saying that if they happen they are a massive boost to a tiny club and can sustain that club for a number of years. With replays taken away, there's not even the chance of that anymore.
At least give the home drawn team the option of playing away.. ?
Rich STAY Rich
I am neutral about the decision but I think keeping replays could have benefitted many clubs.
Most PL & Championship clubs have academies. They could test out their rising stars and fringe players against smaller teams in meaningful games.
I have a question who is the corner he keeps looking at
I think Lincoln City is a great story from the FA Cup getting to the quarterfinals against Arsenal. Which ultimately lead to back to back promotions which took then from a non league side to league 1.
Spot on!!!!
Absolutely spot on Mark.
Keep replays up to the 3 round
What?
As a bolton fan I am not fuming about it in all honest. Lower league teams don't have the squad depth for afew reply. There should be the option to play at the better stadium.
But ain't the premier league in discussion to increase the money that's paid into the football pyrimaid
Surely going to penalties and getting through to the next round generates more revenue than playing a replay which you'll most likely lose?
This decision will almost definitely result in lower league teams going further in the competition. When you've just had a good enough performance to scrape a draw, it's much easier to win on extra time and penalties than it is to try and replicate that performance a second time on a different weekend. Most FA cup replays result in the bigger team going through.
This won't make the game bigger. It'll shrink it. As highlighted in the first 10 seconds of the video.
I completely agree with the Dorking manager and the FA Cup is a great for these lower league clubs to secure some stability but the game is about greed.
Although I generally agree with the sentiments I do also think it will help smaller clubs to progress further in the cup as its easier to get a result in a one-off game against bigger opposition.
Yeah this seems to be going largely unmentioned. It’s not all bad.
Yeah don't worry about the smaller clubs! Absolute jokers the FA!!!! Was obvious when they scrapped replays in the later rounds what they were planning! Squads before used to be considerably smaller replay every round and still coped, but todays HUGE squads on astronomical amounts can't handle playing (potentially) a few extra games?! Do me a favour! The rich keep on getting richer and looked after, whilst the poor get poorer (as always) & forgotten about! More Bury's & Macclesfield's incoming. Disgraceful from the FA!!!!!
Completely agree its a disgrace of a decision . Its the only chance of Been able to see a game at likes of anfield especially for young fans. And then the possibility of having to do it again at their home ground .
Why should they be owed 2 games? Why reward drawing?
@@L1am21Because those clubs rely on the gate receipts to stay afloat?
@@Youngbuck83 if they cant afford to stay afloat just playing in their league they shouldn't exsist. Also screw the boo hoo crap. Tamworth charge almost the same money as Birmingham city do.
@@L1am21its not all about money though is it . For some players and fans especially young fans it's a chance to see their team play at one of big clubs stadiums like anfield .
Living legend
this is tricky i do see a good idea of scrapping replays as if a low league team gets a dream of draw of man utd in 3rd round at the lower league ground attack, attack, attack not defend park the bus and force a replay i would rather see the team try and attack the big teams not just sit there and park a bus
Top guy , always 100% correct
How about we keep the replays and stop the EFL redistribution of cash each year?
He is absolutely spot on.
I get why people are upset about this, but on the other hand, it’s now more likely for cup upsets to occur and lower level teams can progress to the next round and earn more prize money. Instead of having to get a result against a higher level side twice in the event of a draw (which is very unlikely in most cases) they can now potentially take the game that they’ve drawn to penalties and from there stand a good chance of progressing. It’s not all bad.
RIP our old traditional football
Its taking the big payday games away from the smaller teams to help squeeze in the big payday games for big clubs with the additional champions league games... despicable
People saying it’s a disgrace and that and replays shouldn’t be scrapped. Fair enough but how many times have you seen a smaller club batter a big club or give them a good go and the big club has scrapped a result back to go level. They have went on a replay and the small club has been smashed at the big clubs ground?
Taking half a million quid with them, that's the point. Previously you had two chances to pay the wages for a year, get drawn away in the first place and if not, force a replay at home.
@@arlasoft aye a suppose like there is that factor but if the smaller team has got the big team on the ropes and they beat them in a penalty shootout or extra time would that not bring in more revenue making it into the next round?
This devalues parts of the FA Cup but it is also an insult to the lower division clubs. I would rather see a lower league team get the opportunity to have a replay against a top tier side from the Premier League, EFL Championship, 1 and 2 rather than they dont get given that opportunity after drawing the first meeting.
This decision just goes to show that not only are football fans are not properly valued, lower league teams as well from the National League to EFL clubs in League 1 and 2, plus the Championship.
F it. The way they play football is like managers want 3 points not for more goals scored but for more passes completed.
But more games in the champions league is fine? Oh yeah, that makes the sky six money. We should have put it to the vote of all 700 clubs in the fa cup- i wonder why we didnt?

It’s an utter disgrace to help the big clubs further. Screw the rest of the pyramid they say as long as they get the big money in their pockets! 😡

how will this help the big clubs? if anything this will help the small clubs win their game initially, rather than allow a big club to prepare and smash them in a replay

The whole point is the lower league club wants to go to Old Trafford or The Emirates. The gate receipts could pay the wages for two seasons or fund a stadium upgrade.
It should be scrap entirely

@@omarlawrence9818 of the 700 clubs that compete in the FA Cup, only about 7 of them play European football, and they all have big enough squads to cope with FA Cup replays.
Truro City are playing about 13 games in 22 days, with a home ground that is 200 miles away, while players are working other jobs. The Big 6 can't complain about fixture congestion, especially when they're jetting off to Australia 3 days after the end of the season
All Clubs from League 1 downwards should just boycott it by not filling out the entry forms and just let the FA Cup have 44 teams in it and see how the FA would like that!
The PL clubs don't play as many games as the other EFL clubs and certainly the L1 and L2 clubs, 46 League games, minimum 3 FL Trophy games, FA Cup minimum 1, League Cup minimum 1 so 51 games minimum. Squad size of 23. PL teams play a minimum of 40 games if not in European competition. Sure, Man City and the like may well play 60 plus games but they have a depth of squad to cope with that. They also choose to go overseas for "prestige" friendlies during the mid season break, so it seems once again that the PL clubs want to have their cake and eat it. Personally, I think the big six should all go off to the Super League and make their money there. But be banned from domestic competition.
Personally I think the entire EFL should boycott the FA cup next season. Too many big clubs dictating what happens
One of the best decisions the FA has made in years, the replays were annoying and werent needed, nothingnworse then a midweek replay in some dumb with 200 people

The FA need to remember that football is bigger without the so called 'big 6'. Football in this country would carry on without them. We need to stop being held to ransom by these mercenary teams and hold the values of our national sport high.
Make the chamions league title winners only and no group stage again. Or change the name because most of the teams arent champions. The winner of the FA cup or nation by nation equivalent gets europa league.
Isn’t a significant loss. You’ve got more chance of progressing through by scrapping replays and going straight to/play for penalties. If you win the shootout and progress you get the same money over a replay anyway,
it's not the same money - they lose the ticket sales from the relay
the gate receipts are huge. Especially if you get a replay with a league 1 or 2 team. It's a massive loss to non league teams.

Because they don’t get significant revenue unless they’re at home. So if they play away and don’t get the replay they miss out on revenue that could single handedly keep clubs afloat because the big 6 don’t want to play as many games

@samemmett768 yes but surely getting to the 5th round is the same has losing in the 3rd round to a big team away.
Plus I don't think a big team charges more than £20 per ticket for a fa cup game especially against a league 1 club and below so I really don't see the drawback to the point mentioned above.
When lincoln got to the quarters that money basically allowed them to get to league 1 when they were still in non league.

So cowardly clubs and spineless fans should stop bleating, and start to use the power they have.
It's not the job of the bigger clubs to keep smaller clubs in business. A lot of these smaller clubs are so poorly run. However, I do think that smaller teams should be able to choose whether they play home or away in the FA cup tie. The German model of having the bigger teams play away may not actually benefit a smaller club due to the chance to eanr more through gate receipts by playing away.
The home team get a higher percentage of gate receipts when they play at home
The slow drip-drip death of English football, killed by the Premier League clubs who want more season space to enable them to play more meaningless but lucrative exhibitions in the 'plastics' territories like China, USA, Korea etc.
