There real names are Lapis and Lazuli. Also, the cyborgs arc was inspired by Terminator, it explain the scene with the old man shooting at c17 without being able to at least slow him.
#17 = Lapis, and #18 = Lazuli.
Their names were never revealed in the TV show or manga; it's a piece of 'new' lore from recent interviews and DBZ summary books.
Something about #16 was also revealed around this time; he was designed to look and sound exactly like Dr. Gero's deceased son.

No trunks did not affect his own time, just the alternate timeline he was in. Also they DO have former real names, Lapis and Lazuli but they just go by 17 and 18 outright
Not-so-fun-fact but in the manga 17 actually capped the old man before Trunks arrived. I guess the animators found it too extreme so they kept him alive, which I prefer greatly in the anime!
I love how trunks goes straight for the kill. My boy ain’t playing no games, no letting people charge up, get free attacks or any of that shit. It’s just done and done. What’s next? Good to have at least one saiyan like that around.

The reason trunks was weak earlier
was cuz of having no powerful training partner stronger than 17 and 18 as all died. The sad part was that he was out there fighting by himself.

Also, you should know Trunks would not hold back against anyone. He has had too much of a dark past and future, so he doesn't care about letting something evil power up or get the edge in battle. He will go all out to put an end to an evil monstrosity at any cost. He wanted to put the androids reign of terror to an end. In Trunks timeline, the androids had been terrorizing the Earth for more than 15 years, and he could never defeat them until now. So why would he not go all out, and destroy them as quickly as he can. Trunks is not 1 to hold back especially, when the terror as been going on for years.
Trunks has killed the most villains in the whole dragon ball franchise
Future Trunks is the perfect Hybrid Saiyan. Just enough Saiyan ruthlessness with the perfect amount of humanity to be a true super hero and saviour of Earth

Yo Aimin the next 4-5 episodes after this is the Otherworld Tournament arc that is widely regarded as the best filler arc in the series following goku in the afterlife, especially in this version one of the new characters has one of the best themes. Hope you check it out!

Lapis and Lazuli are their real names, they are humans engineered with robotic cyborg parts.

Goku tanked bullets as a kid before he even started his training. His powerlevel was like 10 back then. The cyborgs have powerlevels of several hundred millions (frieza wa 120 million and frieza is a weakling compared to them).
They can tank planet destroying attacks (Vegeta was a planet buster when he came to earth).
Frieza is a star buster and Cell solar system.
During the first og dragonball arc muten roshi destroyed the moon and attack potency is about equal to durability in dbz.
There is no weapon on earth that could hurt a z fighter after the first dragonball CLASSIC arc.
The only thing that would work is Radiation sickness after they tanked a nuke but thats it.
The Androids might be built different. But in general characters can be hurt by weapons if they are caught off guard.

I'm surprised that the Android's first warning wasn't that Trunks was about three times as buff as he was the last time they saw him.
And yeah, pretty much all the Z-fighters are bullet proof. Bullets are rendered pretty much useless against them back in OG Dragonball (Roshi at one point destroys an entire division of the Red Ribbon Army when they attach his island, and Goku single handedly defeats the rest of them. King Piccolo also easily defeats the entire world military before Goku managed to take him down.
If you're capable of tanking an attack capable of blowing up a planet, guns are kind of worthless. You could probably drop a nuke on the Android's heads and it wouldn't injure them.
When Trunks first came back to warn them about the androids, he thought he would change his future by doing so, then he went back and the future DIDN'T change so he came back to see if something had gone wrong, where he sees Dr Gero and android 19 when meeting up with Piccolo, Vegeta, Tien and Krillin, and this is where he finally finds out that time travel in the DBZ universe uses the multiverse theory, AKA you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT go back in time in your own timeline to change the past to alter the future, you can only travel to another timeline and change it there.
I can only assume that the timelines run in parallel, but not concurrently, so technically Trunks never actually 'went back' in time, he just shifted to another universe that was "lagging behind" his one and hadn't progressed beyond Frieza's arrival on Earth, whilst his timeline had long since gone past that.
Well you have the right idea but trunks already knew it wouldn't change anything. Trunks stated it in the show.

Kakarot does the Future timeline very well. I'd say the only thing that felt off was Laura Bailey's Kid Trunks voice was used for Future Kid Trunks. Like... it makes sense, but if the voice isn't the same as the original it could never hit as hard for me. Laura is an amazing voice actor though.

Trunks doesn’t fuck around he isn’t like gohan or vegeta where he makes them suffer as long as possible he just finishes them off in a blink like he did to frieza
In the vaguest sense it was the best shot anyone got on Cell all day.
Vegeta overcoming his Saiyan pride and allowing himself for feel actual emotions for his sons death led to Cell dismissing Vegeta once he swatted him away. Vegeta later being the only one strong enough to actually break through Cell's outrageous strength was the tipping point that allowed Gohan to take advantage of that distraction and finally overpower Cell's Solar Hamehameha.
I'd argue Vegeta overcoming his blood and pride to help the son of a low-class Saiyan peasant was more of what got to Cell than any of the ki blasts and that's what allowed him to be defeated. Dragon Ball is much deeper than most people and even most fans will give it credit for

To answer your question whether what trunks did affects his future or not? No it didnt. Trunks travelled on a different universe's timeline that will end up like his
