I had an english racer in the late 60's so long ago I cannot remember what it was, living in Takoma Park and riding all over D.C. for two years and discovered motorcycles at 19.. That was it... Then hit on my Pan and then in later years a Shovel.. Always hated the crowds and confusion.. Guess that is why I ended up with semis for a living until I discovered how much men would pay in strip joints just as a waitress which payed for my bikes and kids.. Good rides... Peace out...
Always been a 2 wheel guy. Rode a full size bicycle before I was big enough to get my ass on the seat. Rode my Peugeot racing bicycle from Flint Michigan into the Green Mountains in Vermont. Awesome trip. Ride motorcycles now. Still haven't taken a motorcycle trip as far as that bicycle trip

Scotty, finally got around to reading your book. Well done my friend. As you have said, it was not what I was expecting. I'm 57 and can relate to many of the lessons from the book. As with all things, you don't have to be the person you were yesterday. Ride safe and hope to see you on the road.

Great slice of American life
Last summer, on my first motorcycle trip through Alberta Columbia Icefields I met a lady on her bicycle from Alaska she was on her way to Banf and Lake Louise going through the Ice fields from Jasper. She said on a good day she could do 80 miles. She stayed in Hotels for her overnight stays. I bought your book. I will be reading it soon. And happy belated B day.

That was kinda cool with the bicycle people. I kind of enjoy splitting the lane on them when I pass and the cars have to hang back for an opportunity to pass.

Those cyclists had some nice bikes,not easy riding distance loaded up…slow and steady is the game 👌🏻I used to be heavily into road cycling and may do it again sometime,but average long ride on a weekend was 200km then i’d do 300km and over 400km in 24hrs,all solo unsupported riding through the night and fuelling up with food at gas stations…
Now i mainly do what these guys do with camping gear…bike packing…similar to you Scotty but without the engine 🙂👍🏻

Are you a Dayton this week. Them bicycle 🚲 kats are a complete 180 from use bikers. They are a different breed.
I only do Daytona if i happen to be in Florida at the time anyway. So not this year.

Scotty, I have an old riding buddy that has gotten into bicycle riding in the last couple years. It's gotten to the point every time I give him a ring to go riding he can't because he's going out on his bicycle. Maybe being new to it it's addicting or something. Anyway, have you given any thought about putting some merch up for sale to help finance your travels . Maybe just hats or official coffee mugs ?. I'm retired with time to kill so I'd be willing to help with orders and stuff.,,
Guess ive thought about it. Just really dont know how put that kind of thing together i guess.

Is it fuel injected? I know nothing about those. Did u keep riding it? Problem may go away by itself. Happens a lot. Water in the gas? U can send stuff to scottykerekes@yahoo
Scotty hey man my bike is running awesome well i wanna put a new cam in it to freshen it up and give it some tork and o little more passing power on the highway what would you recommend..ive got one in mind but i wanna see if im kunda correct lol

who knew bicycling was such a big deal? iowa haS THE BUMPIEST CONCRETE ROADS I VE ENCOUNTERED...THAT WAY THROUGHOUT THE STATE. IMMEDIATLY GOES AWAY WHEN YOU CROSS THE STATE LINE. why?

This is bizarre. It's like if hipsters decided to be a LITTLE more hard than they are.... but not MUCH harder...The bike with the tractor tire sculpture thing could have been kinda cool.... if they actually used a chain for sprockets... even a bicycle chain would have looked better...You'd think bicycle people would have a chain and sprockets lying around.... Different strokes for different folks, I guess
This particular event seems to be mostly about fun with friends, a lot of drinking, and the will to be weird.

i kind of disagree with your assessment of Joeies journeys. I think it has a lot of you in it. sure its told in second or even third party but I see you in the little girl, maybe even the priest, ect.... I think this is a completion of your experiences told though the eyes of the characters with some wonder of what's next.
I just started to re-read it and find i missed stuff the first time around.
Undoubtedly some of my own experience in there. But as i would write these characters, especially some of the things said in the meadow, id look at it and think, "Ive never seen that philosophy before". It was weird.
@scootertrampscotty yeah I ejoyed it because Im a godless bastard and although " god" is Christian based / heaven, ect... its also has some Druze ect.. and religion has always been an enigma to me, especially in 2024..

Ive never been religious. God and religion are NOT always the same thing. And although i used to be seriously anti-religous, ive not been that way for a long time now because i see it making life much better for some of my friends. Also, where else do they teach about morals - a thing the US is seriously running out of.
@scootertrampscotty if your looking for morals you won't find them in the bible. its because society has said stoning women on the street is wrong, sleeping with your daughters is unacceptable, beating your slaves is wrong, ect
I dont have any problem with someone believing anything they want, hell people believe in lizard people, santa claus and unicorns. some believe if you get surgery you can become a woman. I just don't play along.
now if your going to your church on sunday, getting together with your people and praying and that helps you to be a better person, god bless you. what i have a problem with is when you want to change laws based on some stoone age writing that is nonsense, or depressing people for you ideas.
I don't think that one man should tell another how to live his life as long as he's not hurting anyone.
Im bitter about religion because i was inducted into the cult. good for me i can read, ask questions, follow science, facts and history.
I dont say theres not a god or gods i mean theres almost 5000 to choose from unless your Hindu then 33 million more. but like Thomas i need to see the proff. I try to respect everybody, ill admit it's not always easy but i try to approach everybody with love and empathy first. So god bless all that disagree with me. what a boring world it would be if we all did agree.
Those are the real" bikers" . They pedal their bicycles many miles each day,, are in pretty good shape and sleep in tents then get up early the next morning and do it all again. They make you guys that ride Hardleys look like a bunch of pussies
