At the age of 75, this was my first RAGBRAI. As I rode through towns, I shouted Hello and Thank You to the people who were waving and cheering us on. Three times during the week, people riding past me said "You sound like Ryan Van Duzer". I took that as a great compliment.
Awwwee, this just put a huge smile on my face!! I hope to meet you someday and combine our cheering strengths
The gentlemen that donated his kidney to a stranger, I mean wow!! That's probably the most selfless thing that you can do for someone. Quite a hero, true angel.
I agree! He’s awesome
The young feller you're riding with is gonna be a very successful man when he grows up. Likable and very mature and responsible at his young age.
I agree! He’s very mature for his age
So excited to spend so much time with you bro! So glad I was part of the pink team!
I LOVED riding with you this year. Let’s do it again!!
@@duzer we will for sure! Hopefully before RAGBRAI again 😄 🤣
Well done Dan wish I could do what you do on your bike.
@2wheelsrbest327 Thank you, we are capable of a lot when we practice constantly. Had remodels that helped me as needed too. If you ever want pointers or anything, lmk.
RAGBRAI!! We’re you there? Share your favorite moment here…and stay tuned for a lot more in the coming weeks!
I rode the last day of the Great Bike Ride. My Dad dropped me off in Williamsburg after I finished my paper route. He wanted to get a picture of me with Kaul and Karras. John Karras seemed to understand how intimidated I was by these two "famous guys". He told me how important guys like me were. If it wasn't for us delivering the papers, nobody could read what they had written. After a few years out in the real world, I know better. John Karras and his spirit of generosity is what made RAGBRAI what it has become. Ryan, you remind me a lot of Karras.
Allen is awesome, any kid that carries their own hot sauce is hella cool 😊
I agree!! :)
It was an honor to meet you, even if only briefly along this crazy event. Keep inspiring, you're a one of a kind human being.
It was such an amazing week!
We are already looking forward to next year. My Mom, Sandy, is hooked at 84 years old. Awesome meeting you in person.
Your mom is awesome! So glad that I got to meet you all!
Ragbrai was amazing this was our first time. The people were awesome positive Vibes all around. My mom is already to go again next year. Thank you for all your amazing videos an inspiration. My mom and I were on the tandem recumbent trike.
I loved netting you and your family out there
that kid with al the bike packing stuff is awesome man ... I love this .. U inspired not only those people but all over the world . love u
Yeah, that little dude has his priorities straight! Thanks for watching!
My first Ragbrai. Flew from Costa Rica!! Had a blast. Thanks for the better week of my life.
Found the best people there, with a pura vida vibe all arround. Great food, nice route, new friends.
Pura vida indeed!!!
I tried so hard to find you all 8 days. Never could find you. It was my first RAGBRAI. I saw BBB adventures. I had 3 goals on my first RAGBRAI. 1. Meet Ryan Van Duzer. 2. Do not SAG. 3. Do not walk a single hill. I only succeed in one, the do not walk a hill. I made it all but 40 miles on day 4. My body just would not let me do it. I was not eating enough and I just had to listen to my body. I hope to meet you next year at RAGBRAI 51!
Oh bummer!! I'm sorry that we didn't connect out there, hopefully I'll see you down the road
I grew up and still live in Iowa. I was the little kid waving at all the cyclists biking through my town. This was my first ragbrai at 26 and having just started cycling last fall I thought I needed to wait until 2024’s so I could get in some more training in. But this being the 50th I went for it and was very relieved to find out it wasn’t as difficult a task as I thought it was going to be. My longest ride before ragbrai was 50 miles. But was able to knock out my first century on that optional karras loop. You have all day to do the ride take as many breaks as you need. It was a spectacular week :)
Right on! I love hearing this...it was indeed a spectacular week!
Ragbrai fever spreads far and wide. Spotted a guy wearing a Ragbrai tee shirt last week here in Brisbane Australia! What lovely people you introduced us to, everyone has a unique story!
WOW! That's so cool!
I rode my 600x at Ragbrai last year with a broken arm...lol..loved the bike and the ride but had to miss it this year. Thanks for taking me along virtually..
Oh wow! You’re a trooper!! I didn’t know that you had a broken arm
Loved my first RAGBRAI and getting a chance to meet you this year! I was the guy with the same phone case as you! Thanks for putting RAGBRAI on our bucket list! Amazing event, fantastic people, and beautiful countryside. You rock, Duzer! Funny enough, we were in South Dakota roadtripping back to Washington and RANDOMLY met a guy at a brewery that rode the first RAGBRAI!
I remember you!! So glad that you had a great experience
A little confession: I like my crowds small, if at all, so, when RAGBRAI time rolls around, I have a hard time looking at the videos because it is all about the people and that is a hard one for me. In the end though I find my self laughing and enjoying the whole thing. A little special for me. Saludos y abrazos 🙂
I hear you, it’s a BIG event…but as you can see, it’s about the people (for me, at least). Thanks for watching!
I love Grant's dry humor, he's so funny. Get some roughage in your system, Ryan!
He cracks me up!!! Such a big hearted man
And after that sage advice, the next thing Ryan does is jump in dirty water. 😁
Awe, thanks for sharing all the beautiful humans you met along the way. Love the matchbox car kid! So good to see people beautifully changed from all their life circumstances from getting atop a bike. ❤
The beautiful humans are my fave part!
Hi Ryan I may live in the UK but I love RAGBRAI as its probably the most positive thing I view about the US. We only seem to get negative stories over here that involve politics, race issues & murders but what we get here is people without any prejudices having fun together and that's the real world we live in. The young lady that is fighting to get more people on bikes is amazing. Over here we have the same problem in getting bigger size bike clothing. Ok if your racing you do need tighter clothing but how many of us race ! I have often felt that cycle racing teams are missing a trick in not selling their racing kits in looser fits as they would sell far more to those of us of a bigger size. Unless I win some money I doubt whether I will ever get to ride RAGBRAI so I will just enjoy watching you & others riding it. Given how we follow America I am surprised we don't have one here. Hop we are going to see your mum. Best wishes. Ted
Try the London to Brighton bike ride. It's only one day, but you get to ride closed roads with thousands of other cyclists.
Thanjs Jeremy Great idea.
Yay Duzer's RAGBRAI video is out!!! It was so cool to meet you in Sioux City. Thanks for taking a selfie with me and offering me a signed copy of your book! I've been watching you since 2016 and always hoped to run into you on RAGBRAI some year. I see you talked to a lot of 600x riders; there's no way i'd bring my 600x on RAGBRAI! I didn't see your instagram post about the pink shirts until it was too late, but i wore my "fueled by Frijoles" shirt, lol. Thanks for the video! Can't wait for next Sunday to see the next one.
We'll get the TEAM DUZER info out earlier this year!! Stay tuned
I could ride it again with team Duzer! Ryan's energy is awesome!
We’ll be doing it again, stay tuned
So looking forward to more episodes of RAGBRAI50! Thanks for inspiring me and so many others to live healthier and more active lives. You inspired me to do ride RAGBRAI 49 last year and 50 this year. I made so many great memories and amazing friendships in a period of my life when I i needed it the most.
I’m so happy to hear this!! RAGBRAI is medicine for the soul
Duzer! I’ve been waiting for this video since July, but I know you’ve been a little busy :-). Great to meet you at “mile 62 on Day 3 of RAGBRAI”. My boys loved the video we shot. Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole! You are the best my friend. Phil from Washington
Sorry it took me so long to get his OUT THERE! :) Hopefully it was worth the wait
Don’t be sorry, Ryan.
Atrocious weather conditions this side of the pond (storms, torrential rain, floods, gusts of wind clocked at speeds never, ever recorded before) make cycling almost impossible.
Perfect timing, can’t ride my bike, never mind, let’s watch Duzer YT, instead.
RAGBRAI is on my list of goals for '24!
It’s so fun! Hope you can make it happen
Thanks for sharing. Listening to all the stories of how bikes changed peoples lives was inspiring. Marley Bronsky has done so much to get people included👍
50th RAGBRAI was on my list. All signed up and everything. Back injury 😢 put that on hold. Next year😊. Hope Amelia is healing well too.
Cheers. 🌞🚴♀️🖖
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear this. I hope that you’re doing better now.
I don’t know if it’s not common knowledge, but Ryan is probably one of the nicest people alive today and has to be the happiest person alive.
Love you channel.
Awe!! Thank you for your kind words. I’m sending you a virtual high five from Boulder
I look forward to your RAGBRAI videos every year, Ryan. During the covid lockdowns I binge-watched all your previous ones to keep my spirits up here in wet and windy Wales. You may be loud, but your positive energy brings a lot of joy to many people.
I'm glad that these videos can keep your spirits high on cold days ;) The memories do the same for me!
Ragbrai rocks!!! GO DUZER giving a voice to the many many incredible people and places we should all be experiencing.
It's such an amazing event full of wonderful people
Don’t know what your October looks like, but we have a Mountains to Coast ride in North Carolina, Spruce Pine to Ocean Isle Beach this year! Fully supported and campsites each night like RAGBRAI! 7 days of riding from the Blue Ridge Mountains, the hill country, the pine forests, and the Atlantic Ocean!
Hmmmmm, sounds fun
This is so awesome!!
Thanks
Ran into you on the route. A buddy and I jumped into a pool along the road. Got out and he said … thats the Duze… I said nah… and lo and behold … it was. We chatted for a few minutes - great times… I told you, that you looked taller in your videos
Ha! I remember that. What an awesome week
All the happy feels! Ryan is such a happy dude, the tiny helmet on the dog and the little kids! So cute! I love that you acknowledge the spectators.
The spectators are a huge part of what make this event so special
Thank you for all you do for our team! The shirts were awesome! Dream Team loves you!
Thank you for all the work that you do!! You’re making the world a better place
We have a ride in Mississippi called Bikes, Blues and Bayous. This year we had a cyclist from Alabama who lost her life after being struck by a motorist. Very very sad situation! Thank you guys for taking a mile to keep these people in your thoughts and prayers!
I’m so sorry to hear this :( I hope that our country puts more money into making our cities safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.
❤❤@@duzer
Ryan. It's so heartwarming to hear you talk to people who have been inspired by you to ride Ragbrai. It's been 25 years since I rode Ragbrai, this video is telling me it's probably time to go back.
See you soon! 🎉
Rob!! I really hope that I can share some miles with you in Iowa at some point
Just signed up for my very first RAGBRAI today. Inspired by you and your adventures.
Right on! You’re gonna love it
That looks like a lot of fun..ole ole ole..
It sure is!
Ryan, each time you participate in Ragbrai, you bring an incredible amount of enthusiasm, excitement, and motivation with you. They are boundless! The joy and energy you bring to riding are contagious, and you inspire so many people. It is wonderful to see how enthusiastic you are about riding. It would be an incredible experience to go to the Ragbrai with your pals. Even though I am now in my late sixties, I still occasionally fantasize about taking an aircraft from Manila, Philippines, to Ragbrai, Iowa.
Thank you! It’s an honor to tell these stories and get people excited about cycling. I hope that you get to experience RAGBRAI someday
When I see so many people enjoying cycling together I wish I had gotten my first adult bike sooner. I know 23 is not exactly middle-aged, but it's so fun I wish I had started earlier in life
Been waiting for this!
I Love Iowa 🌽 RAGBRAI is Special.. Glad I was there 2X.. speaking of Special.. That is You.. Thanks for all you do.. you touch a lot of people lives❤️
It is indeed special...such a great group of people involved with this little ride ;)
I am so glad you are posting this years RAGBRAI! I thought you weren't going to do it for a minute! I got really into cycling this summer and have been addicted to it! Started biking to work and back almost everyday. Now that it is getting colder out, I really miss it. But I am bound and determined to train and ride the whole thing next year for the first time. I will have to tell you my story when I see you next year!
Right on!! I'm psyched that you've embraced the BIKE LIFE!
awesome video ! I had a wonderful time on RAGBRAI ! I started riding seriously a little over a year ago. This year I rode the BAK (Bike Arcoss Kansas), RAGBRAI and Cycle across North Carolina. I'm 66, I rode every bit of no sags and never walked hill or mountain. More important I loved riding my bike and meeting all the wonderful people along the way.
Love hearing this! You’re a champ
Yes Ryan this is great. Giving people a chance to ride. Bet they all loved it 👏👏
Love your Ragbrai videos, and have lost count of the amount of times you've inspired me to get back on my bike.
Happy Trails!
So awesome! I'm an Iowan living in Oaxaca, I planned to be there this year, but I broke my ankle last spring. Currently training for RAGBRAI LI!
Sorry to hear this...I'll hopefully see you this summer...and enjoy Oaxaca!!
Inspirational to see those inspired... this is a special type of inspiration that really does shows we can get out there!
Ole ole ole.
OLÉ!!
Thanks for bringing back some of the memories from my first Ragbrai. Saw you near the pool in Ames and should have said Hi and thanks but didn’t want to bother you. Ended up going home after 3 days due to heat. Planning on going back for 2024 and doing it now that I’ve learned a few things I’ll be better prepared.
Thanks for taking us along, bro!
Thanks for joining the fun!
You have to feel pretty darn good about this experience and all of the testimonies pertaining to your biking encouragement. You da man, Ryan!!
It's so fun to meet everyone in person and hear their stories!
@@duzer I live in Oskaloosa Iowa. We’re hoping Ragbrai comes thru soon. The last time it was thru was in 2013. I direct the Municipal Band and the crowd was awesome!! If it comes through Oskaloosa you’ll know where I am. Please stop up. Downtown Bandstand!
I rode for RAGBRAI for the first time. It was awesome!!!
It’s pretty darn fun
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Sorry it was so late ;)
Thanks for sharing your experience. I had to tap out of RAGBRAI in Des Moines this year because of the heat. I saw plenty of people with your shirts on, but didn't get a chance to say hi to the Duzer himself. If the first day is any indicator of the following days, it seems like you and I just started at different times and rode at different paces.
Ragbrai looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing the joy!
It is!
That's because it's loads of fun. Registration starts next week.
Its great that the couple that he broke his roller bone could ride in ragbrai on a recumbent tandem trike .👍 I also saw other recumbents in this video that's great👍. I ride a recumbent trike as well .great video Ryan as always
Thanks! I was so happy to see them out on a comfy recumbent
Awesome!
100% inspiration from start to finish, I can't believe its been a year since the last one😮Young Alan is just incredible, cycling 72 miles at such a young age is just mind blowing👌You really inspire so many people Ryan, I get inspired watching every episode👍It was a little colder than Iowa in Scotland today😂 so I cut my ride to 66 miles in below zero temps, it was so beautiful though☺
Alan is indeed incredible! I hope that it's not too cold right now in Scotland...Brrrrr
I love your adventures and the people you meet. Safe travels amigo.
The people are the best part!
Awesome! When I am old and finally able to meet the USA, I want to ride this ride. Wow! Greetings from Europe!
I hope that you make it happen someday!
Love the music. Thanks for sharing your journey. I can really sense how strongly this is affecting you.
Nice!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🚵🏼
Inspirational video. Thank you for promoting bicycling.
You know it! I'll be promoting bikes for the rest of my life!
Love this! It's fantastic.
Glad you like it!
Ahh, it’s all been said. Empowering, inspirational, blah, blah, blah. But it’s all so true! Your posts move people. In a GOOD way! And not many can say that. I was thinking you didn’t ride ragbrai this year but was very stoked to see your new post. Thanks!
It's indeed true!! RAGBRAI is special!
Great to meet you at the expo. James from Australia on the Brompton😊
It was really fun to finally meet you!
I did Ragbrai 50 this year and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. The most bicycles I've ever ridden with were 5 including me lol. Day one was white knuckles for me riding elbow to elbow with thousands of bicycles 😱😳 It was terrifying and fun at the same time. I wanted to cry every time I saw a hill 😭😵 There were soooooo many. Truly an experience that everyone should do at least once!! You are one of the people that inspired me to drag family and friends kicking and screaming to this awesome event....thank you lol
Oh wow! It sounds like you overcame some fears to make this happen, and for that, I commend you!! Way to go
Ryan, Glad to have met you in that first down Day 1 even though a brief encounter. It was my third! Started carrying my gears from Des Moines to the End town. Think I'll start doing that going forward. Such a pain having to deal with the baggage truck this year and the lines. Plus I can pack up and leave in the mornings while people are still packing up or sleeping.
Yep, that's why I love carrying all my own gear! FREEDOM!
I hate your videos cause you to inspire me to send a lot of money! This is the best time ever. How can I get on your team next year? My face hurts because of the smilies watching these!
Usually shared on his instagram or priority bikes media from my experience.
haha, sorry about that :) I'll be posting info soon on how to join our team next year
Another great video. You do so well to 'capture the moment' and your love for people is contagious :)
Thank you so much, meeting people is my favorite part of Ragbrai
Awesome video
@duzer Riding with you, Dan, Brett and Alan, and the entire team was such a blessing and a pleasure! I can't wait to try again next year!!
We’ll do it again for sure!
I had a blast with you, too!
Walking, running, bicycles, escooters, green open spaces, electric buses, electric commuter trains and trams are all parts of a good transportation system. Speak up for improved transportation options in your city. Every train station needs safe, protected places to park and lock bicycles. Children and older adults should be able to ride bicycles to work, school or for fun safely.
Here here!! I’m with you 100%
Looks like a lot of outstanding human beings Ryan ….. you’re. A great human pal !!!
Hes pretty Great! Exact same off camera!
Awwee thanks, Dan(y) ;)
Great video. Looks like a really nice event. I’m also a bigger rider, so really appreciated your interview with Marley. One of the reasons I ended up on a Cannondale gravel bike is that they make weight limit info easy to find.
Marley is such a great advocate!!
I love the positivity! Respect
Hard not to be positive at RAGBRAI
I might have to do this next year, it looks awesome.
Come join the fun!
This looks incredibly driven by fun.
It sure is!
So many lovely people with such inspiring stories.
But Mike the Living Donor was definitely the hero of the day for me.
He’s awesome!!
Ryan I completed Ragbrai 50. It was awesome experience thank you.
Great job! Hope to see you out there another time
Awesome ride duzer every time I see your channel inspires me to ride my bike ❤ it
Yay!! Have fun out there
I drive a semi for a living and ride when I can. I wish there were more places to ride safely. I’ve downloaded an app that shows me the rail trials and that’s nice!!
I agree with you! Our cities need to make bicycle infrastructure a priority
Great video! You do an awesome job capturing RAGBARI! RAGBARI 50 was crazy, so many people.
So many people! But some of the best ones I could ask to be around for a week.
There were indeed a ton of people out there...but for me, that made it more fun!
I’m a little bummed I didn’t run into you I thought for sure I would! But with so many people there this year, I’m not surprised. Maybe see you next time.
Bummer! Maybe next year, hope you had a fun experience
This was one of the best!!
I agree
This is something amazing! I first got interested in cycling and fitness after a BSA Leader suggested we do a grand cycling event from NY to MO. It was 1974 so I’m just wondering if they got the idea from this FIRST event in 1973😮! Really cool that the goal is to enroll young people!
Did this as well. RAGBRAI 2023 was my first one ever.
I want to go. Thank you Ryan!
Come join us!
Whohooo that's da freakin Shit..No Flatties, No Chrashies & No Whammies 💯🎸🎙🎵🤘
It is indeed!
Soooo awesome
It’s the awesomest! ;)
So Fun! My daughter and I even made it in, just for a moment at 2 min mark 🙂
Yay!!!
I think we all need a friend like Hunter
Agreed! He’s awesome
I had a great time on RAGBRAI this year, biking over 500 hot &hilly miles that week. But on day 2, I went down a slip 'n' slide too hard and injured my shoulder. D'oh! Of all the ways to hurt myself on an epic bike ride, I never imagined this one, lol.
Hope that shoulder is doing okay. See you back next year?
Oh no!! Slip N Slides are supposed to bring joy, not pain!! Hope you were able to continue without too much pain
Great video. Inspiring. I was there in 2000. We had pork chop man there then too. Do it if you get the chance. A great time.
Right on! It musta been quite a scene back in 2000!
I was wondering if you skipped RAGBRAI this year. I live in Iowa but didn't pay attention until my Denver son flew back to do it last year and then I found you!
I wish we had rides like that in Sweden too!
Start one!! ;)
que buenas energias , compartimos el amor por las bicicletas , Colombia presente...
Asi es!! The energia es incredible!
Buenas bielas...
Man that kid Allen was so funny when ever I saw him away from you he was like do you know where duzers at lmao
So adorable
Haha!!! He was never far away ;)
@@duzer I need to get up with them they also live in Florida
On my BUCKET LIST for sure. From Yakima, Washington.
It's a good one to have on the bucket list!
Seeing this gives me hope for my idiot town where the police advise to ride facing traffic or on the sidewalk so cars aren't inconvienced. There used to be a bike tour that went through town but they now avoid it.
I hope that all of our towns become safer for bikes...our country (and the people) need it!
