Hello Dave, as a Portuguese native speaker (from Portugal), I have to tell you how flawless your Portuguese accent is! WOW!! That's super impressive! I have tons of foreign friends and have NEVER heard someone speaking so perfectly like you! 😍
Obrigado Marta 🙏🏻 a praticar todos os días
Dave, tenho muito respeito pelo teu respect. Please do not stop. All the best. Miguel.

tb não exageremos vá
Hey Dave…can you do a video on the political system in Portugal? I’m really interested in the politics of the country before I move there.
I just came back from an 11 day trip to Portugal, this video was fantastic and so helpful to study before going and while I was there. Obrigado!!
Loved this one Dave - obrigado
Very helpful video!! Thank you for sharing!! 🇵🇹 👍🏼
Dave . Meus parabéns sua pronúncia é excelente!
Dave, I just found your site and really like the way you do things. Will be coming to Lisboa and The Algarve next April to scout it out. Thanks for the insights!
Dave, thank you so much for these videos. I’m from A2 and I think it’s so awesome you’re in Portugal. My family and I are visiting soon as we are considering a 2024 move. My husband and I love your videos, thank you so much for the content. Incredibly helpful
So helpful! I am coming to Portugal for 3 weeks next week, and I am unusually nervous about the language barrier even though I've traveled to France, Germany, Italy, and Mexico with no worries.
Your best video to date. Solid content here!
Excellent. Obrigado.
"Bom" clearly is good ... morning is "dia" / afternoon is "tarde" / night is "noite". "Boa noite" is not a greeting but rather a send off to slumber. This is very helpful for my trip to Portugal next week !!! I like greeting folks with a hearty good morning / good afternoon / good evening. Will study the other phrases on my flight to have a few other key ways to feel connected to the people of Portugal. Thanks Dave and Anita. All the best
You're right! In Portuguese we say "boa noite" when the sun goes down, even if we hang out partying at night, so don't get people wrong if they go out with you and they say "boa noite", they aren't turning you down! Because for us "boa noite" can mean "good evening" or "good night"!
@@vervideosgiros1156 Too old to be partying to "boa noite" but thanks for the heads-up !
@@MattyO-72 😉😂
Have a safe flight 😊 Beijinhos 😘
Boa noite is also a greeting. The equivalent of Good evening in English.
Thanks! Your videos are fun and educational and I like all of them
Thank you Dave! Great name by the way 😎
Very helpful video for those going to Portugal and these phrases are super helpful if not essential! I just came back from Portugal this week and already miss it and miss speaking Portuguese. I really like the people and I find them kind and respectful. It may take a little longer to get to know them but they do open up with time. When you go to the same cafes and restaurants, the people get to know you and become chatty. I wish I were back there! I am a happier person in Portugal. Not that I am a drag here but I just feel so alive in Lisbon.
Your pronunciation is very good! :)
Thanks, Dave!
This is the best way I've ever seen, thank you.
MUITO BOM. Parabens.
Anita is a fabulous language teacher ❤😊 Thx
I hope you do this again Dave
Muito Obrigada
Olá Dave, estou muito bem desde Boston ,em breve estarei no meu Portugal passar umas férias. 🇺🇲🇵🇹
As a Spaniard (who also speaks catalan as a second language) I can understand literally everything. It's amazing how similar the languages are.
As a Cymro Cymraeg there are a few of the same, and simular words in Cymraeg...pronounciations as well .
I also noticed the very close simularities between Catalan and Portuguese during a conversation with a lady from Catalonia in a supermarket, in my local town Caerfyrddin😃👍As one does !😂
2:38 be prepared for the locals to respond with "Queria? Já não quer?" (You wanted? You don't want anymore?) It's a very typical Portuguese joke.
It's better to say gostaria.
Yes the locals who don’t know the Grammar say that😂 as Queria is the Imperfect of courtesy and not Pretérito Perfeito (quis) the one used for finished actions 😂😅
Mesmo 😂🤣
Yeah my Portuguese friend corrected me in Lisbon a couple of weeks ago on this when I said "Queria" and he said no its "Eu Quero Um Cafe" - as its present tense queria is past tense!
My father is from the Azores and I’d love to go back one day and be with my people
I love the Azores ❤❤
GO, so beautiful
Almost ready to chat with portuguese! Keep going!
very helpful
Obrigado
Pronuncia perfeita
Obrigado.
U do good dave! Saiste-te bem dave ahahah
Hi Dave, recently discovered your videos, thanks for the insight and the honesty. I usually create lists to save my favorite videos on CZcams and I see that I cannot save yours (no "Save" button), why is that? I'd love to save some to my playlists.
Having spent some time in line in Portugal. Eu sou proximo - is very handy. Ela e proxima/ele e proximo - she is next/he is next!

Dave and Anita, it is awesome to hear Portuguese accent in such detail.
I am from Brazil, so I speak Portuguese but not with that wonderful accent.
Any chance a Brazilian can acquire the portuguese accent?
Congratulations for your channel
Hi Jeff, thank you for your kind words 😊 here is how I started to reproduce the brazilian accent and learn brazilian portuguese vocabulary : music ✅ tv shows ✅ podcasts and videos ❤
@@PortuguesewithAnita uau que incrível
@@Dazuii Boa sorte 🍀👍
I know of a Brazilian lady who moved to Portugal some years ago and she doesn't have a trace of a Brazilian accent. I think if you work at it you can.
I came on the channel for sure
Good
Dave, if you were looking for a place in Portugal that was near the ocean who is not extremely frigid cold all year long head cultural events sporadically through the year had a walking area or you were capable of leaving your home and walking to the amenities. what is your experience as the best place in Portugal. I look forward to any advice and information you have.
Dave . I understand better you than many portugueses ( Alentejanos ) Bravo !
Verdade 😂😉
Hermosa Anita
I often wonder why there is a need to identify the country of origin in Portuguese. Spanish has over 200 dialects yet these are not differentiated by countries. For example, as a carabean hispanic, I have a hard time understanding argentinian spanish.
Despite my initial antipathy towards you, I must admit that your Portuguese is excellent, and am please to see that you really seem to respect the Portuguese culture, it's traditions, and are not trying to impose your American ways on the Portuguese. Shot out to your teacher Anita 👍
Cria😂 um café... Muito bom 😂kkkkk
How long have you been in Portugal Dave?
2:48 - Not Anita setting Dave up for a "Queria? Já não quer?"
É indelicado dizer "quero um café" ou seja o que for: dizer "eu quero" é uma exigência; não um pedido.
@@vervideosgiros1156 Não entendeste a piada mas tá tudo bem.
@@TheLagostim Eu entendi: supostamente se a pessoa diz "eu queria", "parece" que não quer... Eu não concordo que se diga "eu quero", porque é indelicado.
@@vervideosgiros1156 português do Brasil.
Interessante 🤔
Ahhhh, Dave! Love your videos! The Brazilian flag is upside down!, FYI.
Why do you have our flag upside down? Is it a market strategy?
When you are going to Portugal ? if you are planning then get the copy of this book. it will help you to talk in Portuguese without learning Portuguese.: “START SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGES: TRAVEL GUIDE FOR CONVERSING IN EUROPEAN LANGUAGES.” this book will definitely help to use European language without learning it.
Learn "Adeus" but, at the end, "Tchau tchau"... As a portuguese I say: "Oh Sorte!!"
Or would you say that they are an excepting community? Also, do women feel safe and free to walk around in the community and do the things necessary?
😁😁😁
I'm also doing Portuguese but finds it difficult
I think it's supposed to be onde está a casa de banho 😅

Dude... How many stars did that "American" flag have? You got new states that I don't know about?
portuguese brazil vs Portugal is like american english vs uk english.
Brazilian Portuguese is a lot easier to pronounce (and your pronunciation sounds a bit more Brazilian than European). Cheers, mate!
Maybe not going for easier
Ela diz "let's do the informal for these one", em vez de "for this one"!
UAU!
Bro, wtf if you go to the country side, a lot of that shit does not work. I´m a foreigner myself, but get some practice if its still like that and you´re planning to live like that😅😅 but in general, yes!!! This will work man.
" Cria um café por favor" 🤔 acho que esse português é da China...kkkkkkkkk😂
Olá.
Bom dia.
Tudo bem.
Fala ingleš.
Quirea um cafe por favor
Muito bem
Boa Noite.
Tchau Tchau.

Adeus = to god = "we're going to get on our wooden boats, sail off to who knows where, and possibly die doing it"
Dave, you pronounce your Portuguese words BETTER than your teacher does.... 🤭
😂😂😂😂 Claro! He is the best!
Yes, good point Dave! Portuguese it's not Portuguese from Brasil. É que não tem nada a ver mesmo! Period!

Dave, the Brazilian’s flag is upside down.
Muito cramatical😂 kkkkkkk fora do padrão.kkkkk
Dave, You got to work on those nasal vowels dude. Also, for "que", it's more like que in French, you are doing Spanish.
Inclusivamente a professora dá uma calinada quase no fim, quando diz "these" (plural) em vez de "this"!
@@vervideosgiros1156imagino que o seu seja perfeito 😂😂
@@PortuguesewithAnita Não, não é perfeito, mas, além de não ser professora, sei a diferença entre "this" e "these"!
Your ssss is like brasilian ssss , not saund Portugal ssss...
Sound
@@vervideosgiros1156 correct, sorry😅
How disgraceful ! How can you have an american flag with 11 too many stars on it ? Where is your respect ?
