In an older video you stated when a comment is posted and even if deleted you can still see it. This was a lesson you taught me, and I think about it from time to time and certainly when I am leaving a comment that can be taken the wrong way even if it is intended in a good way. I think it's great you did a podcast about this. In the hiking community we all should support each other (as stated by you). I did chuckle a bit that someone could get angry over a Kurt Zitzelman hike.
lol I know right? Plus it was a hike with Panda and we just goof around and laugh the entire time when we hike. How can you get mad at that? I learned long ago with text messages that sarcasm and intentions rarely come through the intended way when read by the recipient.
I agree with you 100%. I feel your pain with comments like this. I get them from time to time. I can’t fathom why someone would be so critical especially about someone they don’t know. Like what’s the point. Why does it bother them so much. To me I don’t care to much what other people do. I follow the blazes and the trip ends up being the way it is. I do it the way I want at the time. But I don’t understand why people are so angry that they comment like they do. Doesn’t make sense to me so I do t let it bother me. Keep doing what you are doing because you are doing great. 👍

Last weekend, during the heat wave, my wife and I took our truck camper to Cooks Forest SP and did a small loop hike... it was a little cooler in the tree cover than at our campsite but either way,, did like 2 miles and went back to an air conditioned rv for the best 45 minute power nap of my life. No way I'd put that on youtube tho 😂 I got so sick of making hiking video's for this reason.
It's like they say, hike your own hike. In the video the commenter complained about we stopped at not 1 but 2 air conditioned restaurants that were along the trail... showed them both lol Everyone will have their own ideas about how anything should be done, and that's perfectly fine. As long as what you're doing isn't hurting anyone else you should do what makes you happy. Don't let the narrow-mindedness of some keyboard warrior stop you from doing what you want to do.
I could see if the comment was about bailing out, or my attitude after not sleeping but to be mad about where we parked, the direction we traveled and us joking around was ridiculous.
