I truly do not understand why we can't have this kind of TV show today. We have so many great performers still working. They could tell their stories, sing and dance. It doesn't have to look like the old times.

Because culture is dominated by Marxism (please see the meaning of Cultural Marxism), their goal is always to lower the standards: grades, culture/knowledge, education/manners, speech, ethics, values, etc. Marxists don't want the person's improvement but the contrary, so they can rule.

Because to appreciate this kind of performances you have to listen, look and stay still.
And in this days the fast majority is in for a quick and instant fix. Why read a newspaper when you can get the news in a quick flash?
      Why read at all?
Why listen when you are self-absorbed and already have 650 friends at facebook?

Do you know one? Tell me who? It’s like half of the 20th century was her domination. Even up to the first 1st part of the 21st century she was still active. At the very end of this, when Julie said Goodbye, I saw the same look we saw so often from Lady Diana, Princess of Wales. Perhaps Diana’s resemblance to Julie Andrew’s, without realizing it, is what endeared her to so many. Ask any women who grew up seeing Julie Andrews as Maria in The Sound of Music. We all loved her and wanted her to be our mother!

At the time, Jack Warner didn’t think Julie Andrews was famous enough to star in the film version of My Fair Lady. He wanted, and got, Audrey Hepburn. Warner also asked Cary Grant to play Henry Higgins, but he refused, saying that Rex Harrison _was_ Henry Higgins and no one else could play the part. 😎🎹

Gene was just as much a perfectionist as Fred if not way more so. He drove every co-star to the brink. Poor Debbie Reynolds who was crying with bleeding blisters pracroxinf for hours and hours while he browbeat her even though she was only 19 ans had never tapped and was thrown into the deep end my dancing with the world's greatest and a seriously talented dancer in Donald O'Connor who could pretty much hold his own against Gene but you can definitely see the lack snd polish abd control in Donald's technique vs the perfect Gene. Cid Charisse said her husband knew whether she was dancing with Gene or Fred as Gene would leave her in bruises.
And Gene was so particular that he would re dub all tap numbers they did and filmed in a movie and go in a small box or small stage and re-dance/tap all the numbers over again--and even tap and dub whathe deemed weaker performances of co-stars...that's how much of s perfectionist he was!!!

    • @magloyd4907

Cyd Charisse, who should've known, compared the them by saying Fred Astaire had better coordination than Gene.
