Just done my xfs . The unreading fuel gauge was also accompanied by uneven tickover for about a minute and then cutout .
This was a long shot I read on a jag forum but it cured both so thanks for the useful vid .
Just one thing . I was so keen to check it had worked I turned ignition on without reconnecting anything resulting in a road full of diesel oops . So just hold fire and get it all reassembled before testing it 😂. Cheers mate

Mate, if you lived nearby i’d buy you a pint. I’ve had the same problem for the last week and the garages are all booked for at least a month. It worked!!! The hardest part was re-locating the locking ring after i’d cleaned the contacts but a metal bar hit by a lump hammer sorted that but only after a tense squeaky-bum moment when I thought i’d re-set the plate incorrectly. Many thanks again you Legend!

I had this issue on my supercharged V8 where it was not reading fuel at all, it was a little more fiddly with the XJ but thanks to your video I was able to fix it so THANK YOU VERY MUCH👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I will be recommending this video with everyone else in my jag group!!!

Hi! I also have an XJ (from 2012) and I was wondering if this instructions also work for that car, if the location of the sender cable is in the same place. Could you confirm please? Thanks!

Oh thank you for this.. Mines doing it (2010 XFs).. Just done a 100 mine round trip and the tank was 3/4 full. All of a sudden it shows empty (did it the other day with a 1/4 left). I've just filled it to the brim and it's still showing empty. I think from previous comments I need to go for longish drive (no problem there lol, not long had it so love it at the min..). I didn't check under the carpet is I wasn't sure what I was looking for (and I don't know if it's stuck down). Cheers!

Thanks for this. My fuel gauge was showing 124 miles left and suddenly the engine stopped at 75mph on the motorway. I checked the trip mileage which I'd set when filling up, and it read 576 miles! Told the AA but they sent a tow truck only, no fuel or jump starter (2 hours at the side of the road with lights and flashers on killed the battery). Jaguar dealers in Reading charged me £120 to tell me what I already knew - no fuel - and an estimate of £696.00 (!!!!) to replace the sensor. Thanks again, will try this as soon as I get the car home (with a full tank of diesel). Jaguar XF 3.0l Diesel 2010.

Don't undo the top of the tank when it's full, you will make a big mess. It sounds like you have something else wrong that won't be fixed by cleaning up this connector. Good luck!

@@chachcmoney I drove my Jag for some time with this no fuel FAULT just filling up more often,Then on 4 or 5 occasions the engine seemed to stall whilst driving but picked up again after a few seconds .THEN just left home to go to work and 100 yds down the road at an island it cut the engine all together . i managed to turn left into a side street but the steering was VERY heavy,(I am 6 foot 2 and fit) .I tried to restart straight away and it failed but after 10 mins of rest it did start and i got back home .Read the manual and it does tell you it may simulate an engine fault .It didnt tell me that it would cut out the engine .I found this to be a dangerous feature which should be safety recall to remove it.So to all who read this and have this issue get it fixed ! it is an easy fix follow the video

Thanks a lot for good and simple instructions.
