I analyze one of the older videos on DKOldie's channel. It's an office/warehouse tour given by the owner Drew. It's mostly him bothering employee Anthony. I give my thoughts on this type of work behavior and the company in general. - Hudba

This is one thing I have to say about all of this. I know Joey is the face of the company, but let’s just keep in mind he is simply an employee as well. For all we know he is just as frustrated as Anthony is in this video along with the rest of the employees. DKOldies deserves the truth being exposed but let’s not take it out on the innocent employees that don’t run this company. This guy in the video is the one we need to blame!
But if you voluntarily go rob a bank with some friend youre accomplice for a crime. So are these workers a part of scam center. Cheaters are cheaters no matter how much frosting you but on over a turd it still is just a turd not a cake.

They did talk about the prices on their first videos, that it isn't a big deal to them. Don't remember their reasoning for it, but like, at the end of the day the customer decides if they want to pay that price or not. Personally while I think it's shitty of DKOldies to take advantage of ignorant people, those people are still being ignorant.

@@christiangetchell8218 I don't know about hoarding. Their warehouse don't seem all that big and they don't seem to have many copies of games or systems. As for affecting the overall marketing, I honestly wouldn't know.
They just focus on that aspect because it suits their channel best.
No wonder the employees can't refurbish every console, when the boss is everyday doing his tiktok stuff instead of helping them. He's standing there telling his worker that he has to test all the 50+ games first and he's just fucking making his lifestyle videos all day long. Every REAL boss would help their employees to get the stuff done, especially when there's much work to do!

I just watched the interview with an ex employee and he said the 'cleaning department' doesn't have a dust gun. You can't make this stuff up.

This is why I'm very thankful for the mame devs and the emulation community. Retroarch front-end is my go to for playing retro games now. My super Nintendo stays in it's box safe and sound until the rare occasion I bust it out for strict nostalgia.

I’m sure these are people that have experience in the gaming world. They get bamboozled in and all is well for a month or two and it’s just harder to leave when you have a family/bills to support/pay.
They're afraid they might not find work elsewhere.

you get comfortable, and you have friends there, and you don't realize the boss sucks ass until months in, so you stay longer than you should, it's a classic tale in all working environments, especially as I said, if you form friendships or start a job w a buddy you already know, there are good moments at that store, Drew just isn't a part of them...
Looks like Drew is the real problem with dkoldies while Joey has gotten too much flak retrospectively. He still works for a terrible company but I thought he was calling the shots.

Man I’m so glad you YT creators are bringing attention to these wack companies taking advantage of consumers. I wanted to buy a PSP vita and this company came up in the Google search. I saw the prices but I really thought they were legit refurbished products. They are clearly too small of an operation to fulfill orders with products that were throughly tested and 100% refurbished. Such a shame. I remember when I wanted to work at GameStop part time because of my joy of video games. I guess this is the dark side of the business.
They probably only have 1 or 2 people assigned to complete refurbishment of inventory and that's why it isn't getting done. Good video.

I can relate to the boss/employee thing, and I'm even a manager at a store and MY boss always condescends me to make herself look better, and won't just leave me alone and let me work. I'm fine with being updated on what's new, but when you stand there and fight with me about something, it's very unprofessional.

Drew seems like he's got the 'tism. He was hoping to have some lighthearted banter with Anthony, but doesnt really know how to interact with people or read them. He thought he'd ruffle the feathers of his ol' buddy Anthony, but doesnt realize people actively dislike him. I love retro gaming, and have a decent collection, so if I worked there and saw the horde of consoles and games, the insane price gouging by the company, and shady business practices, I'd hate the boss and my job too.

Does anyone know if Anthony still works there? The only videos I could find of Anthony were from 7+ years ago. From the old videos, Anthony seems like such a nice, hard working guy who really cares about games. I hope he got out of that hostile environment and works somewhere where he is respected and happy.

I am in the area of dk oldies about 15 mins down the road, it sucks trying to get to any yardsales and flea markets/ marketplace posts before these guys get to any retro games. They have people going out every day to any sales before ppl open up and buy up everything.

As someone who that lives near DKOldies and used to do a lot if retro collecting, let me tell you it was rough back in the day. Not only did we have DKO, we had at least 3 brick and morter game stores at one point. It became impossible to find good deals at the pawn shops. The brick and morter stores were cool but there wasn't enough supply or demand to keep them going and unfortunately DKO was the survivor.

I bought a Phat PS2 and a bunch of PS2 games. Everything was in decent condition too. One of the lucky ones I suppose.
Audio is a bit louder so it did improve, but I'll have to watch it again when I'm at work on the same PC to really really be able to tell just how much better it is, but I like how you listen to your subscribers that's important cause at the end of the day I'm not trying to down ya just letting you know so you can make improvements, if you don't know then you can't improve right 👍

Nothing worse than a boss who "jokes" around with employees, but mixes his jokes with actual demands, and bossing them around but just uses the jokes to get away with being an asshole. Either be the jokey boss outside of serious meetings, or be the serious boss at all times. Mixing it around like that just makes for an AWFUL work environment. I don't think I have seen a boss as unprofessional as this dude...

Honestly for what dkoldies does . They do seem to have a good business going. Probably is the prices on their systems and games . Plus ive asked them to film my order and they never did . Which is depressing. But when i ordered stuff from them and hope then filmed my unboxing video from them they did a solid job on the games. They looked clean and they didn't have any problems working. Plus the way they shipped it was packed tight and they didn't use those crappy white peanut things that break easy . They used brown paper and it was shipped well.
First off, I do not support DK Oldies at all. With that said, if they want to purchase all gaming consoles/games and willing to pay (from what I hear, pretty good), let them. Why should they need to think about if it will hurt the next person having a more difficult time buying the item... supply and demand. This is a business and here to make money. This is my main problem with anyone who complains about how many games/consoles they have. I'm sure ppl will hate my opinion, as it is MY opinion.
