That was a pretty solid Crocker impression
I think it was partially due to sheer laziness on the writers part (or Butch's) and partially because they had to compete with Spongebob. I think both shows kept trying to out-dumb the other one and it spiraled out of control.
Or because Butch Hartman had more involvement in the show during its later years, because he's that untalented.
@@nevaehhamilton3493 hate Butch all you want but I don't think it was his choice to make Cosmo so dumb. I honestly think they wanted to add more of a comedic edge to the show after a while, replacing the heartfelt
Moments from the earlier seasons.
That's a very good imitation of Denzel Crocker.
That Crocker impression sounded rough yet still quite good but holy fuck, that “Fairy God Parents” made me cackle.
They've done a superb Crocker impression before.
I believe he did it on his other channel a year or 2 ago on a truck racing game (but it's sadly been delisted).
Just good? It was superb.
I’d be very disappointed if he didn’t try to imitate his spasms when he said it
I actually did somewhat. It helps me get into character.
@@mediamementosofficial hahaha! That’s amazing. True *acting*.
That Crocker impression was superb.
Huh. That was actually a pretty good Crocker impression at the end. Well done!
I liked Cosmo best around Seasons 2-4. Ask him about politics, romance or Canada and he'll speak his infinite knowledge all day. He just doesn't know when to shut up and read the room.
Where Butch Hartman failed, when he decided to make Cosmo more outlandish for comedy, was that he didn't seem to know the difference between "smart" and "wise;" that one character could be the most knowledgeable person in their circles AND the biggest fool at the same time. No amount of street smarts will save you if you're just THAT curious about a shiny red lever.
What about season 1 and the pre-series shorts? I guess not because they were still trying to flesh him out
Very nice video. Since I plan on making animated shows in the future, I’ll take this as a cautionary tale. Also, that Mr. Crocker impression was awesome!
Solid Crocker impression 👌
Just uploaded as I started the veggie tale abridged video
Even better a great topic about cosmo’s derailment
He used to be very suave lol
You do make a good point. I should diversify my style of humor. If I were to make a cartoon, I would use self referential humor, fourth wall breaking and some slapstick. Thank you for the advice.
I have Fairy Godparents
Oops. Not anymore now
fastest click in the west!
fastest click since never.
I believe that to a degree, there may have been changes beyond Butch's control when it came to the show and its direction at a certain point
Well, it's really due a number of factors:
- the crew changing from the first five seasons to where it was for season seven on,
- the supporting cast getting cut down to only a handful, shifting many of the jokes to them,
- the humor becoming a lot more homogeneous,
- the crew over time losing the fun passion & spark, and treating it more like a job they have to do.
I know this bit has nothing to do with the video's topic, but one example not often brought up is how Guy Moon's score also became homogeneous, to the point where many cues are reused over and over.
3:04 now you made me remember that they once had a crossover with the fairly odd parents
I love Cosmo.
What I noticed to is that cosmo voice changed a little too
Ur editor(the app not the person) couldn't handle that great crocker impression which is why it broke this video and only backed up 1/3 of the video
What is that thumbnail? It looks trippy.
In the first season Cosmo used to be a charming jazzy dude, personally I think it's that corporation network forcing this cartoon character to be stupid,?
/j NOT THE CROCKER IMPRESSION
In channel chasers they made a joke about how in the Simpsons every adult gets "stupider".
If that's the case then fairly odd parents is a show where everyone gets "stupider".
Does anyone even know any characters during Seasons 9-10 that did not end up being given the one note idiot character treatment?
I watched FOP when it was on. And I realize in my later years that it's quality aside from the earlier episodes was, well, lacking in quality. BUT PEEEEYUGH THE SMOOTHNESS OF THE LATER SEASONS HAS ME ON EDGE FOR SOME REASON LIKE THE EDGE OFF A CLIFF LEADING INTO A VOLCANO, ITS ACTUALLY DOES ITSELF NO FAVORS.
Maybe you should check out Bunsen is a Beast. After all, there aren’t a lot of reviews on it.
Butch happened.
Didn't like the downgrade of Cosmo
Love ❤️ lol 😂 The Fairly Oddparents!
I like the later seasons of FOP but I HATE the way Jorgen was characterized in season 10. He literally got bitched by a 10 year-old when he was once the toughest fairy in Fairy World
why are the captions only in korean?? lol
Sheer laziness.
Butch has stated in a interview that he made Cosmo dumber because he thought it was easier to write a stupid character than a smart character. Granted, we know he's capable of lying so....take that how you will
He’s actually right. That’s what i mentioned in the video with taking the easy way out. Rather than making jokes about people’s personalities, he decided to make them all dumb so they can get through stuff easier.
Funny, I personally find it harder to write a stupid character than a competent one. Or, maybe it's just I find them harder to write well. Dry sarcastic humor/witty banter is basically my default.
@@mediamementosofficial oh right. My bad. I literaly just woke up before hitting play. My mind blanks a lot when I just get up. Haha
@Ice Lily, same here actually.
I think that another one thing that kill a development of a character more than flanderization is the status quo of a series
Just remember that one dimensional character from a series that had some episodes that showed and established some afew interesting things about them that got you hooked up only for that being ignored or thrown away in the next episodes and pretending that didn't happened
Nope, I don't have any FAIRY GOD PARENTS!
as Butch Hartman shows get dumber and dumber they become the cartoon equivalent of "Idiocracy"
I'm sure the Simpsons seasons are only going to be worse, but you left off at S12; I hope you'd finish the TV Talks after 2 years.
Dude. Stop.
Nobody cares about the Simpsons anymore.
@@ExtremeWreck Maybe not but I just miss the retrospective.
@@TheIkranRider We all do, but it's time to let it rest.
But he said he abandoned that years ago. TV Talks is gone, man. He’s been very clear about that.
I do not like what they
did to Cosmo either
Seeing him go from somewhat smart to dim with occasional moments of intelligence and then becoming a lethally stupid character just irritates me
Tbh, I think I already see the cracks for Cosmo even in earlier seasons. One of the episodes that made Cosmo really unbearable in terms of stupidity in earlier season was "Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker" where its mostly Cosmo's fault why Crocker is like this and instead finding Cosmo charming... Yeah, this episode made me really irritated with Cosmo.
Also nice Crocker impression btw
Are you going to do an apology to the VTA loyal fans (or rabids as you call them)?
Right. The "loyal fans" that insulted and degraded Trevor every time he tried something new. The "loyal fans" that cried for Trevor's head on a pike any time an episode dared to take longer than a week. Sure. They definitely deserve apologies. XP
@@LeafRazorStorm People change. Don’t harp on the past. These people probably regret acting like this in the heat of the moment. But we’ve moved on. He still blames us for devotion the very thing he wanted. And when we offered constructive suggestions he got mad like with Fiat and Wanda Ladda Loo.
He probably won’t
Do you have anything else more productive to do with your life?
@@incorrectzak3496 you don’t but the rest of us do you should try it sometime
sarah frost left and the entire show went down hill
Super toilet sucked alot of smarts down the drain
I'm done with butch's stuff because whatever unique or interesting thing he adds to his stories is eventually ruined by making them generic or stock.
I'd you only hire John kricfalusi for gross out then you only hire butch for character templates. Then you add flavor because he certainly won't.
Yeah cosmo was based
Timmy's intelligence fluctuated. He was always like that. He gets bad grades in school. He is pretty reckless and can be selfish at times but is heroic when he needs to be.
Cosmo changed because he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease
There's so much stuff from seasons 6-10 i will defend *to the death*
And this is one of them! Agree to disagree, but I always hated Cosmo's "car salesman" voice.
Same for me. I feel like the secret wish episode felt like a true endgame to the series.
@@abstraction6212 the virgin overhyped channel chasers vs the chad underappreciated timmys secret wish
...vs the ultra chad nice & quaint little finale in fancy schmancy
I'm more used to super dumb Comso. He is funnier that way. He is one of my favorite characters other than Poof, Tootie, Vicky, Trixie, and Crocker.
Actually, there really aren't any stupid characters in Bunsen is a Beast. Amanda Killman steals the show. She's the main villain. She is smart, mean, rich spoiled, and always the butt of the joke.
Bunsen is pretty stupid
@@HispanicToddendale Not really. Its more that Mikey and Bunsen are goody two shoes all the time. The teacher is crazy.
Also the newer animation just looks like shit.
Sometimes Flanderization is a good thing. It made Homer Simpson funnier.
It’s NEVER a good thing. Flanderization by its definition means ruining a character. And it just made Homer dumber by taking away his brain and heart. He was an idiot early on but he had a soul. Now he’s just a Peter Griffin clone. That’s not good. That’s destructive.
@@BossManBlaine2245 I can tell you haven't watch the show as of late. He still has heart in several later episodes is Million Dollar Maybe. Season: 21 Homer is supposed to sing at a wedding ith Marge. He is late because he bought a lottery ticket. He then crashed his car and ended up in the hospital. He won but he doesn't want Marge to be mad at him. SO he hides the money and a tree and secretly buys nice things for his family when they aren't looking. It was very sweet. He didn't spend a single cent on himself.
@@BossManBlaine2245 He was at peak jerkish ness from season 10-season 12 after that he went back to normal.
@@icecreamhero2375 I’ve seen every episode from seasons 1-24. Nowhere did I see a single example of Flanderization being a good thing. Not one. By making him dumber, he lost most of his other traits, thereby making him less of a character. And just because the show is a comedy doesn’t mean that that’s a good thing. They used to have heart but lost that when they went too far. I along with most people see it this way, so I don’t appreciate you thinking I’m some out of touch snob when I’m in the vast majority.
@@BossManBlaine2245 Did you like the episode I brought up?
