    I like to imagine Sandy's science interest flared up because the story editor for Seasons 4-8 (Steven Banks) used to write for Jimmy Neutron, and since Sandy Cheeks and Cindy Vortex have the same voice actor, this was Banks' way of finally giving "Cindy" a lab.

    • @cliviex
      @cliviex Před rokem +6

      Sandy became a scientist because by season 3 the writers had ran out of things to do with her
      Rewatch season 3 individually and she'll only really do a major appearance in like 2 or 3 segments. Almost every other episode at that point was just SpongeBob Squidward Patrick SpongeBob Patrick SpongeBob and sometimes Mr. Krabs

    Mr Krabs went from a greedy but good intentioned businessman to basically being the Spongebob version of Stan Pines minus the redeeming qualities and with the negative qualities being amped up to 100 in fact with all the stuff he does to both squidward and Spongebob I would say Mr Krabs is pretty much a censored cartoon version of one of those Ocp businessmen from Robocop

  • @kalkuttadrop6371
    @kalkuttadrop6371 Před rokem +45

    Sandy being a scientist was seemingly there from the beginning to some extent. She IS a Squirrel in a space suit from the astronaut state who managed to get an underwater dome to live in. Tea at the Treedome describes her as researching undersea life(like a scientist) and Sandys Rocket has her…literally building a functional moon rocket. Very scientist. From what I’ve read her being a scientist was always in the character Bible and just wasn’t seen as especially usuable in S1-3 with the types of stories they told. Then in S4 they decided to bring it up again in Chimps Ahoy and SquidBob TentaclePants.

    • @kalkuttadrop6371
      @kalkuttadrop6371 Před rokem +8

      So I personally view it as less an invented trait they made up in S4 and moreso a semi-retired trait that was planned(some concept art has her with a hoverboard) early on, used to explain her treedome and suit conceptually, maybe used once or twice in S1 and then shelved because karate worked better for them, and then brought back in S4 because they needed new things to do with her.

    I grew up in a lobstering family and it is hilarious how accurate classic Mr Krabs is as a seafood restaurant owner (which isn't surprising since Hillenburg put in some time at a Maine diner). He's basically a nicer version of my dad, although at least I never got rubber boots for my birthday, so that's something lol

    I honestly do at least appreciate that they've brought back his relationship with Mrs. Puff in recent years, it was disappointing for that part of his character to completely disappear after it's debut, with the few times they did interact acting like they never met.

    Yes, finally! Mr. Krabs gets some appreciation and analysis! I really find him an interesting character, and season 1 Krabs is my favorite Mr. Krabs. In fact, sometimes his father figure nature even reappears in some modern episodes!
    Also, funny that you mention Seymour Skinner, since both Skinner and Krabs were in wars, and both are hinted at to have PTSD from said wars.

      Season 1 Krabs had the BEST dialogue.
      "WORSE! You end up _vacuum packed_ IN A CAN OF TUNA!"

      "With nothing to look forward to but THE SMELL OF *MAYONNAISE!"*

    @ShinobiSora Před rokem +10

    There's some of the new characterization I like, especially the relationships between characters. Like Sandy, Karen, Mrs.Puff and later Pearl being friends since they're the most prominent female characters. Or Sandy and Plankton being friends since they're both scientists, and Plankton calling her Sandra is sweet. Or Squidward and Pearl having a special relationship since he's been her babysitter. It would be fun to see more of that. Like Larry and Mr.Krabs since they're both crustaceans and Mr.Krabs used to box and be in the military which could go with Larry being atheletic. Or bringing back Sandy and Larry's friendship. Or just letting Larry be friends with someone. They even made Spot and Gary friends. It's nice to see what they all do outside of being around Spongebob. Seeing them elaborate on his relationship with a bunch of them could be fun too. But then they also focus on some traits that aren't all that interesting. So there's a mix.

  • @caleb1413

      No. he did this because they communicated with him. he didn't do good for them and when his valuable treasure went missing he wanted to sacrifice spongebob and squidward. no and no again. the dude literally looks like a villain and pretends that he is not a villain, he does a great job and helps him when he needs it, and only if you are SpongeBob😊

    I see that in the Flanderization there's 3 phases, born, maturation and zombie
    *Born:* There's a character that is human not in literal way but in the fact that feels real, and has that characterisation that going to be is central point in is Flanderization but in this point is just other part of is character, this part is a soft version of what the character is going to be for introduce him to the public and they can get close and get familiar with him, this period is for experiment in the characters and see what things can explore of him, this can be see in Mr Krabs
    *Maturation:* This the part when the character has is first signals of Flanderization, the characterization exaggerated is made for make him more loveable and entertaining whitout destroying him, in fact this Flanderization is a good step making a better version of the characters and happens in the golden Era of the product, example is Homer Simpson who in the first season and shorts was a regular father who as a little silly but not slow, but in the Simpsons golden era they become more stupid but he still being a father who was worried to make is family happy and make him funny and enjoyable character
    *Zombie:* Is the climax of the Flanderization where the character is completely destroyed in deploy of is first concept for become a cartoon of himself, all we know this part so I don't going to explain it and just say that it's most of the time cause for new writers who don't know the characters as well or a decadence of the product

    The problem with Loud House isn't flanderization. None of the characters have been flanderized. The problem is the plots. I hate how they have abandoned realism.Its supposed to be sitcom plots with some slapstick thrown in. Now they have plots like Lucy charging for ghost hunting services and the Ghost actually being really. What a great plot for Gravity Falls I mean Loud House.

    If I’m gonna be honest, I stopped watching SpongeBob SquarePants on the daily basis after one of the episodes called “Bumper to Bumper.” Now I just watch the show a few times. I personally think that the early SpongeBob episodes deserve better.
    Mr. Krabs’ character analysis is definitely a potential for a combination segment of two analyses: Character Quest and Anti-Character Quest. Impressive character analysis of one of the SpongeBob characters.

    • @Shoshana-to2hh
      @Shoshana-to2hh Před 6 měsíci

      Character analysis tells you that Mr. Krabs is not simple and looks like an anti-villain who does shit. the same thing and plankton, they are both similar, but if you consider who is eviler, it is Mr. Krabs. plankton has a redeeming quality he is a good boss, can make your dream better lol. somehow, if necessary, he can pretend to be a good friend, unlike the crab. and let's be honest, there was plankton in place of the crab, if SpongeBob defended him and the Dutchman supposedly offered his formula in exchange for the sponge, plankton would have refused lol. unlike Krabs who framed Spongebob

  • @wfanking1187
    @wfanking1187 Před 5 měsíci

    Mr Krabs selling Spongebob for 62 cents was unforgivable, after his supposed regret when Squidward scolded him and Dutchman came back with Spongebob he was afraid that he heard what he said and will lose the 62 cents!

    *Character Quest Fusion: The Good and The Bad of Mr Krabs*
    _The Basics_
    0:40 Krabs are notorious collectors. Relates to businessmen.
    Started from Near-Bankruptcy to The Biggest Restaurant in Bikini Bottom.
    3:14 Loveable Authority Figure although he has a Love of Money
    He has Pearl work at the Krusty Krab, doesn't want to break her heart
    Treats Mrs. Puff really nicely, Eugene has a heart.
    5:28 Jelly Patty, Factory Nasty Krabs, the villain, behaving like Plankton.
    He has some good elements
    he does some bad things
    He is still a good character.
    6:58 Makes him alot more interesting.
    *Changing Mr Krabs*
    7:03 Episodes: The Main Drain, Face Freeze
    He comes across as either a jerk or crazy.
    Blinded to the world around him.
    8:35 Flanderization: Making 1 trait a character's only trait.
    Patrick: dumb
    Spongebob: naive, willingly ignorant
    Sandy: scientist
    Krabs love of money is so "1-note"
    It feels jarring.
    10:17 They wanna build, outdo themselves time and time again. It's proven the audience does not feel the same.
    *Comparing Mr Krabs to Seymour Skinner from the Simsons*

    I agree the modern seasons still suffer mostly on characterization, yeah Patrick has been toned down but someone like Spongebob will never be portrayed as anything more than just happy go lucky. A lot of the new episodes just aim to be funny but aside them their stories are very thin walled, remove the jokes and there isn't much to them.
