    This video got a lot more attention than I thought it would. Stay tuned for a video comparison of dynamic lighting performance between different scenery developers in the next few days.

    I saw a huge improvement in airports where there are a lot of ramp lights. In V4.1 P3d would automaticaly turn dynamic light off due to low performance in large airports like Miami. In 4.2 not only do they keep on, they keep on with less impact on frames. So it was a step in the right direction.

    My night lighting looks better than before after I updated ENVTEX. Everything looks more clearly at night.
    I am looking forward to the new PMDG 747-8i, 777 & 737 NG3 incl. real lights.
    Also, I am hoping that ORBX is going to update their lights too.

    When I turned off shadows and reflections in 4.1 everything worked as a charm for me, now I only have cloud shadows on at low quality and very high frames.

    • @muzzik12345
      @muzzik12345 Před 6 lety

      And I have dynamic lightning on

      Frames locked at 31 vsync and tripple buffer on

    The Problem is 4K under FullHD with MSAA no Frame Drops!!! that's really stupid, would like to fly in 4K, but makes me the DL a dash through the bill.
    Too bad this bug was not really fixed.

    So no improvement? Iv not yet updated as I'm waiting for the fslabs update before I do

      Dene Antony me too. And the other addons must update before to upgrade to version 4.2

    Is this default lighting ctpvince ?

  • @dbvetter7485
    @dbvetter7485 Před 6 lety

    I don’t see any difference visually, is there supposed to be? Just a drop in frame rate.

  • @tf51d
    @tf51d Před 6 lety

    Assuming all settings were exactly the same, 4.2 does have more of a performance hit, visually though, comparing to PMDG aircraft may not be the best choice. PMDG uses their own system and lighting techniques which may negate the P3D lighting effects.

    How do you feel after spending so much money on PC and Prepar3D and you get so little..

      CptVince Glad I'm not the only one.. But this is seriously bullying, it's 21st century ffs

    • @CptVince
      @CptVince  Před 6 lety +1

      In all seriousness, the game usually performs well, except in scenarios like this one, which is inexcusable but hey.. I’m sure we will live to see a perfectly optimized flight simulator!

    • @007Neoplan
      @007Neoplan Před 6 lety

      To be honest i'm very close to switching to xp11.. Everything is better but i still believe in LM and that they will fix this shit.. I'm very mad to say the least when it comes to performance of this flight sim

  • @Jackscrj
    @Jackscrj Před 6 lety +3

    Hate to break it to you but your test does not check what they fixed... they didn't improve the rendering of the lights... they just made it so dynamic lights that are further away won't be rendered if they dont affect the scene...

    • @CptVince
      @CptVince  Před 6 lety +1

      Doesn’t remove from the fact that at this precise scenario which you would encounter when landing at night, performance were not increased which is what interested me here. However they say they optimized DL, I wanted to see if that optimization could be felt at an airport that has dynamic lightning and a plane that uses it as well.

    there are film grain.

  • @b757cb1
    @b757cb1 Před 6 lety +1

    That is disappointing, but in reality, not unexpected. These updates are usually lack luster upgrades to fixes that most in the sim community can't even tell the difference. After seeing the problems people were having just trying to upgrade today and the overall underwhelming upgrades from FSX, I think I am done with P3D and moving over to FSW in the next few months. They are far superior in graphics and performance already. The main thing that is lacking from them is 3rd party devs, which will happen in time.

    • @CptVince
      @CptVince  Před 6 lety

      Interesting! I've not really been interested in FSW, but I'll keep an eye on further development!

    • @falconjet0186
      @falconjet0186 Před 6 lety

      Totally agree with the fact that FSW is superior! The clouds and sky colours are incredibly realistic

  • @RyanCunningham12
    @RyanCunningham12 Před 6 lety

    Probably because it can't be fixed.
    Anything dynamic or volumetric is going to kill fps due the complex split-second rendering required, there isn't a way around it. Its the same way the larger the texture the lower the fps is.
    The only thing people are waiting for is better equipped graphics cards sadly.

    • @CptVince
      @CptVince  Před 6 lety

      Interesting. I would love to see what SLI can achieve in this case.

      CptVince Exactly what I was thinking

  • @FreightFox
    @FreightFox Před 6 lety +2

    I saw no improvements at all in my P3D 4.2 compared to 4.1 so they wrote they have fixed it but they really haven't. Just pathetic that LM still hasn't fixed it.

      I have XP 11 already but P3D is my primary sim.

    • @Jackscrj
      @Jackscrj Před 6 lety

      They did not write that they "fixed it"... They spell out exactly what they did... cull the amount of dynamic lights being rendered in certain scenarios... but unfortunately that doesn't cover the one where the amount of lights present on your aircraft itself brings the system to a crawl...

    • @TheOfficialSethos
      @TheOfficialSethos Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah, not sure how blind you people are. They never said they "fixed" anything. I honestly believe some of you people have reading comprehension issues.

    @gamestv4875 Před 6 lety

    Good lord.Just look at your FPS and you have a high end P.C.
    It's just unacceptable for me to fly with such poor performance. I won't buy sim software again until they do something about those dreaded fps issues.
