  • In this video I share with you the pros and cons of being a mobile mechanic, based on my own experience.
    Pros:
    -First: It's not boring.
As a mobile mechanic time goes by so fast that sometimes you wish there were more ours in the day to finish you jobs. You also meet different people everyday and you interact with them directly. You can ask them all the questions you want to ask to determine where to start with your diagnosis. Also you're not inside of the same four walls everyday feeling like your job sucks because you feel trapped (I'm sure there's a better word for that but you get the idea).
-Second: You decide what jobs to take and what jobs not to take.
-Third: You decide how much money you wanna make in a day.
Obviously you would have to work more to make more money but at least you have that option.
-Fourth: You decide when to work.
When you wanna take a day or a week or a moth off work because you wanna go on a trip you can do that without having to ask for permission to a boss or if you get sick you have the option to take as many days off work until you feel good to work.
-Fifth: You decide how many hours you wanna work in a day.
Example, it's 9:22am in the morning right now (as I'm writing this), I start work at 10am and I'll be done at about 3pm then go to my girlfriend's parent's house. I can work on something else like a side hustle because I decide when and what time to start work...
-Sixth: You decide if you wanna keep it a small mobile mechanic business or build it into something bigger.
    Cons:
    First: Weather.
It depends on where you live, but just for the purpose of this video; lets say that you live her in Washington, the weather here in WA is crazy, one day it will be sunny another day its raining and it might be snowing the next day or all three in one day so that gets annoying because as a mobile mechanic you don't have the luxury to be under a roof all the time.
    Second: It's uncomfortable.
Mobile mechanics don't have the comfort of working under a roof with AC or Heater, tools like a lift, a compressor, a press, and a flat surface to be underneath cars. At a shop you can put the car on a lift and work underneath the car comfortably, as a mobile mechanic we don't usually have the luxury of working on a flat surface like a paved driveway. Sometimes it's gravel or grass or on the side of the road, and crawling under a car on a gravel surface isn't fun or using a creeper on gravel.
    Third: Ling our work days.
Sometimes you will be working till late in the day or in the night because have to get the car done to give it back to your customer because you have work scheduled the next day.
Fourth: This business is not scalable.
You can't really hire employees for you mobile mechanic business other than maybe a part time assistant. Unless you get creative like starting a mobile mechanic company like Wrench, Your mechanic, Fix, Abot and other companies like that.

Thanks for the advice. I used to live in Seattle 20 years ago. Out of curiosity what is your range for driving to calls? How far north & South do you go?

hey bro good video can you talk a little bit more about the real estate business and also do you think it would be a good idea to start a mobile mechanic business and buy several trucks and hire other mechanics to work for you as mobile mechanics?

Good video the only thing I disagree with is yoy saying you don't have a boss! As a business owner you actually have more bosses because ever customer is your boss. They are the ones telling you what to do instead of just a service manager.

You're right, especially if you want to build a good reputation and you are a responsible business owner.
What I mean by "I don't have a boss" is; if I want to take a day off I can schedule it and I can take as many days off as I want, no body is going fire me. Also I don't have a lid on me, I can build my business to the level I want/can.
But I do get your point
