Still stuck whether to do tan interior? Hmmm.

Thanks for the update appreciated and very sensible way to do it.
Dark tan, like a chestnut brown will make that green pop. Pure class.
Tan would go well
Tartan inserts??
For you, as a car CZcamsr, the fucking Brexit, will be even worst, make no mistake. A walk in the park like you predicted, was an illusion. I hope this business stays well, or you will be forced to put your ass out of the UK like Tim as done, if you want to grow.
The 912 is so good, I love it! It’s got so much character the little green sod lives on!! The 996 is still so good even now
Glad it’s not going anywhere. Definitely needs a tan interior. Don’t give up on it!
Definitely do some interior work, will lift your spirits. I reckon new dash, steering wheel re-cover (Canford Classics did mine, 300GBP but beautifully done), and get the '912' numbers for the RHSide. I reckon Black Watch tartan wool inserts to the seats...as you like watches, maybe get the dials/gauges refurbed. I got a 911T - stick with your classic, it gets better after a bit.
Tom is right man to get the 912 back on it’s feet. The winter is coming so it’s the perfect time to get work done on any classic. It will be ready for the Spring 🌞
Tom needs to make a video on all the number plates he’s got. CASH
would really enjoy this! Tom can this happen?
@@ZimeEdits C45H TGE should be the next plate XD
the majority of them with T6 E?? are £250 quid from DVLA. pretty cheap but fit well with the channel which is a good job given how many he has !
That's what classic car ownership is all about. Endless heart-ache, money and workshop time. With a few rare days of driving in between. And when it's finally complete, you'll sell it and buy another project. Huge respect to you Tom for doing the 'classic' thing, not many 'car vloggers' do that. How about some vintage watches?
the 912 is one hell of a classy looking car. beautiful and the racing green colour of this one is lovely. well worth restoring for the pleasure and pride of owning such a nice car
Have patience TGE, it’ll be worth the wait when it’s all sorted 👍🏼
I GOT A PAW PATROL AD ON YOUR VID TOM. It was 30 seconds long AND I WAS FORCED TO WATCH ALL OF IT. Chaos lol
I picked up my 99 996 coupe in 2016 in good condition with 102K miles and paid $11,000 US. I'd say it was the low point of the market for the 996. Just checked the average selling price today and was a bit surprised to see they are now on the rise. I really want to sell it this year and buy an air cooled which means along with the sale of the 996 I'll have to pony up another $25K which is going to hurt but is the reality of air cooled 911's today.
Even though the green machine needs a lots of work I still love it.Noticed the huge size difference with the 60s 70s Minis to the newer ones.
I know this vid is a bit old but just discovered the 912 content. I also came from a number of modern super/sports cars and bought my first classic 911 and while it was already mostly restored when I bought it, I have been doing a lot of my “fun” projects for the past year. A big part of the “fun” with these cars is turning the wrench yourself. Yes, they are fun to drive and very rewarding once you learn how to drive them quick, but a big part of the enjoyment is working on the car yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I have a mechanic for the big stuff or things I just can’t do in my garage. But I do probably 80% of the work on my 911 and I really enjoy it. Cheers!
Paul Howey Hello Paul! My dream is to have a porshe 911 or 912 someday! Im in love with the classics! Im 19 years old and i just started learning about this car..So i was wondering can you tell me what do you think about car? Is it worth it? Is it expecive to have one classic porshe like this one? How much is it to own one? Sorry if its personal..I would love to hear everything you know and your experiance couse i cant find much and in my country its like nearly impossible to have car like this so i dont have anyone to ask about it..I would love to get an answer from you! Thank you and take care! :)
Bogdan Milisavljevic The classic 911’s are fantastic. I have owned and currently own a number of sports/super cars and my vintage 911 is my favorite car. It’s totally worth it. HOWEVER 🙂... I would not enjoy my 911 like I do if it was my only car. IMO, you must have another car you drive every day and your classic 911 is the toy you drive for fun. Cost also varies greatly. If you have a healthy budget, you can by a classic 911 that has been restored and well maintained and might cost you a few hundred a year in regular maintenance. On the other hand you could spend less money on the car and have to spend tens of thousands on restoration. Feel free to follow me on IG as I post a lot about my 911 and the projects I’m currently doing @paul_howey
Paul Howey Thank you so much for your answer! I hope that one day i will own my 911-912..Thats one of my dream cars...I love classic cars and i will defenetly follow you! I would love to hear more about your car and about old porshe-s! Thank you again Paul! You made one 19-year old happy! :)
Bogdan Milisavljevic my pleasure! If you have any questions as you go through the process of buying your first 912 or 911, let me know and I will do my best to help 😎
Paul Howey Im working on it! Hopefully in a couple of years one will be mine! Thank you man! Stay safe and peace and love to you and your family! :)
912 if restored correctly would be one hell of a good investment. Seeing as how the classic Porsche’s are now going up for millions of dollars in recent auctions, this car in just a couple of years would be the same.
I love both of your classic Porkers Tom. Both are lovely colours and I look forward to updates on both! They look mega cool parked next to each other!!
Love that you care for older cars! Makes your channel more interesting than others 👍🏻
Enjoyed the video and a bit of infomation to boot.Glad your going to use them as much as possible.Just need a 996 turbo or GT3 to complete the set lad.
Tom you need to get those quad pipe tips for the 996. Have a great weekend
Finally TGE is wearing a watch that I own! 😂
It's never bad news with a classic car, it's just what needs doing next. What's the priority job. Anything is fixable. Love both your 912 and 996. Great viewing - the old and the new! Try and keep the 912 as original as possible. Just improve the bits and bobs as you go along and you will enjoy classic car ownership!
Both beautiful cars! Can’t rush classic restoration process but at least you can still enjoy it in the meantime. Look forward to future updates.
I love your 912 and 996. Probably my two favourite cars in your garage to be honest. I know they don't get the views maybe but I'd love to see the 912 back to where you want it and see you drive it all the time. I hope to do the same with a classic Porsche when I get to a place where I can afford it!
Bang on some Bilstein B16s on, plus H&R 12+20mm spacers on when you have the car up on the ramp for the exhaust. Difference will be night and day then. 👌🏼
Hi Mex,
I have a C4S and I hav been considering put on some spacers.
I had a new set of rear Pirelli P zeros last week and took the oppotunity to asked the tyre fitter his advice on fitting some spacers.
He advisd not, as the would change the geomerty of the wear on the Porsche ad wear the tyres unevenly....
Im hoping you have a C4S and can confirm I will no tyre wear issues.
Many thanks 👍
Paul Tomlinson Hi Paul, maybe in a very carefully examined test set up you might see a very minimal increase in tyre wear with spacers, but in the real world of driving on different road surfaces, manoeuvring, cornering and just driving your car as a Porsche should be, you will see zero difference. I supply a huge amount of spacers and not one person has mentioned increased tyre wear. That’s not even bringing my personal experience into it. Feel free to message me on IG @Mexicanfab if you want a bit more of an explanation, I’m always happy to help. Mex

Kool.
Thanks for your swift reply
Will do. 👍
Excellent update fella.
Mate i fxxxxxg love the 912 its the best thing uve bought, done whatever.... Look at the heritage its history mate keep it going please ur a legend for not being a supercar snob and please take it on track!!!
Leaving it oem and a little lowered sounds great for the 996
Lovely couple of cars Tom, Tan would be cool in the 912, love Porsche's grey interiors on the 996 too, such a classic look. And steel wheels would be epic on the 912.
912 & 996 are still best cars you own. Cool rating of over 1000 Megafonzies.
Look at them sat there! 👀😂
This is the most interesting car you have for me. Always watch all the ads and give it a like. Hope this stays long enough to get passed down
Thank you ❤️
Love those cars, the looks and history. Hope you will have the 912 back as new. Fingers crossed!
I was almost hoping this was clickbait. At least it hasn't broken in half...yet....CHAOS
It will be worth it in the end. I just got a 240Z and broke down (fuel pump failure) on the 2nd drive, the joys of classic ownership.
Great content mate. Enjoyed. 👍
Keep up the good work my lad 👍
After restoration you should do a professional photo shoot with them together they look great would make some cool photos.
Yes lad, lower it slighly and put some spacers on that C4S! Great idea lad lad
Hi, I got to say that this is one of your best video.
I like when you make content about your old cars. :)
❤️❤️❤️
I recommend the M030 suspension. It’s not very much stiffer than the standard and you can easily make the 996 too stiff for looks. In anycase the Carrera makes a better b-road car than a track car for which you really need the GT3. The M96/01-03 simply do not have the oil circulation for regular track use.
I got my self the Bilstein B16/PSS10 which is quite ok but I think the front dampers should have the valve cut-off at lower speed. The rear dampers are ok. Spring stiffness is ok, maybe a bit on hard side for B-road. I run my car at ride heights at 126mm front and 138 mm at rear which IMO is the sweet spot. It still keeps the roll center at front on top side of the road. As every 10 mm you drop the car the roll centers drop about 27 mm or more dropping more than those numbers will requires stiffer AR-bars which tend to make the car a bit darty on uneven roads and in grooves. I know that also the English b-roads are not too prestige roads. Many people seem to want to drop the car more for looks but I really do not recommend that if you are after smiles per miles.
996 is tiny compared to the 992 as well. Try putting one of those next to an old 930.
said it before. the 996 is a great looking machine !
912 ...once all the basics have been fixed it will be reliable..it is not continuous heartache as some say.
Keep it old skool. ..😎⌚💯
Gentlemen's hurry to buy Porsche 996 4s and Turbo before the prices go up.....!
Tom mate your garage is now chaos. I recommend dolomite grey for your 912 and stick in either a 3.2 carera engine or a POLO MOTOR engine. Good move with the 996 but hope the ims has been done. HELL
Love your videos and good luck with the 912. Regards
The parking spots are called AH... Archie Hamilton 😂
Its going to be so epic once its all done lad....👍🏻👌🏻
Please keep the 996 content
I have a 58 morris minor, it's nothing like your porsche but it is a classic too. I've been to a few specialists and spent all my savings on it over the last 5 years to get it to a reasonable level. But it all honesty the specialists are a rip off so be very careful with who you choose.
Obviously they're not all bad but you get my point I'm sure. There will be days you hate the car, it happens all the time but once it's running you'll see it has a personality no modern car will ever have.
Enjoy it while you can!
Lovin the 912 :)
996 C4S is the best looking 996 easily. The 912 is just incredible....
Mate get the 912 up to scratch, you'll have the best garage. Let's face it 'anyone' can buy a new car but 912 and 996 looks superb 👍
I love your videos brother, chaos!!!
Love the Porsche content. 🙌👏
The 912 is beautiful, and so glad it’s going to get a new lease of life and will be used properly, I think you are being completely sympathetic to this car and I predict many years of fun with it 👍
you should get an Urwerk UR-111C, mental watch
Love my Tudor!!
I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma with the extra cab, and the new ones are no longer mid size they are enormous. People want big vehicles these days.
Wrist watch check 👍
Nice vid & cars. Had my 968 for 10yrs & contemplating a 996 Turbo if I can stretch the funds that far. I like the C4S but undecided about the IMS issues. Have you driven a Turbo?
I really fancy a first year 924. Nothing to do with this video but just give me a couple of months before you start thinking about buying a transaxle car.
No matter how much it needs a complete overhaul, the 912 is still the epitome of CASH! 996 and 912 are HELL together ok! 👏👏🔥
Its hard to drive these cars in the winter as the heat is generated from the exhaust which is pushed from the rear. so this could be a summer run around
Have a look at Williams Crawford site. They have a 912 in green with tan interior.
My 930 turbo has been at the Porsche dealer being restored since December 2018. Yes Porsche dealer, car has 6800 miles but was sitting for years so it needed a full rebuild on the engine. At least yours is drivable :/
The size of that car park!
912 is amazing cant wait to see its make over glad you are pushing on with it ..
Steel wheels and OG steering wheel needed. Can’t wait for the Porsche museum video
Hi Tom, put original steel wheels back on. Sympathetic restoration of paintwork and restoration of interior. Perhaps find an original steering wheel and restore seats (tan leather) and dash. Anything you do with infotainment, hide it. Stick with it! Deserves to be done.
I don’t know if you’ve seen the f12 tdf that JoeMacari have at the moment.... incredible spec, get it!
Car park admin question, the full ensemble of cars spread out in the same garage? or various garages
Tom, explanation on the cycle helmet, is a Brompton review imminent?
Cars of integrity 👏🧐
nice watch , thouGht you may of had one of the new limited edition tudorS , forgot wHat they are called nOw ....something to do with rugby and kind of blaCK ....
Thanks for the date set reminder mate, reminded me to do mine #RollsEyes
Shut up 😂😂😂
TGE TV watched the video a bit further and great news the 996 C4S is now in the Porsche Classic Collection 😎 Glad I got mine 2 weeks ago 👍
You’ve redeemed yourself 😅 enjoy!
@@TGE thanks, I'm relieved mate :) the Submariner's a great watch, but obviously needs a CZcams vid as a reminder to change its date ;)
make a video on your full watch collection
Nothing at all wrong with a nob and bolt rest mate. And still use it all the time
That is some big car park
Nice Video Ok Tom
Is that an oil leak under your blue porsche?
@3:20 The Jimny is spotted 👀
"Hello TGE"
-Me 2019
Your best cars are the 996 and 912
You need to buy a toolkit, sleeves up and hands dirty!
your watch is on the wrong hand lad. chaos.
Oh dear! The realisation that you’ve bought a pile of shit!
That’s gonna be a massive bill to make right. The trouble with classic cars. Corrosion is the killer.
Box of matches will sort it out fella
May I ask how much you paid for the 912?
35k I think he said in a previous video
Stick with it, it’s the best car in your fleet and stands out from the endless train of Mclarens being regurgitated by most CZcamsrs these days.
They had a classic green Porsche on Wheeler dealers TV show is it the same car per chance ?
Clean ya windows 😂
Heard he’s only keeping it cause Hannah likes green card. HELL
Im wondering if the, what was it, 35 grand was worth it. I think it will be closer to 100k than 35 by the end. But you bought that from your change jar didn't you, so probably doesn't matter.
Long live the sod!
Everyone loses money on classics. Unless you can do the work yourself.
You see it everywhere. "Over 100k in work into it, But I'll take 70k for it"
Yep yep yep 👍🏾👍🏾
You won't put air suspension on the 996
AH03 - shouldn’t Archie’s Porsche be parked there...?chaos
Is it me or does he look like Prince Harry? 912 are awesome cars !
