I took 911SM up to Scotland for a week driving around the coastline. I really got to know the backdate a better on this trip and it continues to provide me with great memories and fun times. Can't recommend a Classic Porsche 911 enough (preferably one that's been messed with).
Hope you enjoy the video,
Thanks, Sam

That car fits the scenery perfectly
Yes, I think the goal of owning a sports car should be to have more fun, not just to go faster...
Love this car, every time I drive it I get a bit more addicted. Makes me wonder if I'll ever buy something new again.
Sam Moores I feel the same about carrera RS rep mate, love it to bits!
Sam Moores hey driver !! We feel your joy ! 5 years ago we bought a 85 iris blue metallic coupe to see what this air cooled thing was about . it is so nice to have a car that you look forward to drive ! You know like oh boy we are going for breakfast Sunday in the carrera ! Your car is awesome! Cheers from the colonies 😎😄😄😄
SUV's cloud the mind, these cars clear the mind.
Just did, you get a new experience everytime.
I totally agree. I'm building my dream 911 version on my channel now, but I've driven several over the years and fell in love
What a scenery, wow - pics at the end are unreal
Hey another great vlog. Made me laugh about folks reactions to seeing 'long lost friend' 911. I've never been fortunate to get a drive in any Ferrari but I'm sure the smile factor cannot be greater than in my old 911👍
My old 1988 Ferrari Mondial 3.2 coupe with 270bhp, manual, and a Momo with no power-steering has similar characteristics for driving on roads up North. I did where you are in a 308 GT4 in 1990, fantastic!
Old Ferrari V8’s are £35k to £50k but old 911’s are way more to buy. I’ve had a 356A coupe and think the 911 would likely be a bit better than my Mondial but for me its unaffordable to change. The old classic Ferrari’s attract people coming over for a chat in filling stations too. Recently Chris Harris has found that his Mondial 3.2 is better to drive than he believed before he drove one, so I’ll keep mine for back country roads, slowish fun drives!
I am totally envious. Fantastic ride and great route. SWEET
Great Porsche and lovely scenery thanks. Glad you fitted a twin pipe exhaust in the end, please make more videos with this 911
Beautiful car, beautiful shots Sam, nice one ;-) I need to take my 986 up there!
John Backus
I owned a 911L exactly like this one ! I was told the "L" meant luxury and the engine was not a high horsepower model. That is
what surprised me when I saw the number on this car. Yes, they are great cars, I have owned several and they were all great
including the 914, fun to drive and they just make life a little better.
Beautiful photography at the end of the video. Well done! Cheers Peter
Great vid Sam, glad you are enjoying the car. Sounds better with the two pipes in my opinion.
Drove through there about 17 years ago now, thanks for the memories!! Looks like you had an Epic trip!!
+Darren Boman awesome, such a great trip
Thank you very much for sharing, it is always cool to see you drive this car no matter what the conditions are !
I'm planning on renting an old 911 (2.4 e) next year to go hunt alpine roads in alps actually !
Envy you. perfect day and perfect drivers car. Just pouring out character and engagement. And the scenery.. sublime!
Two of my favourites, a yellow classic Porsche and a country road. Thank you Sir.
You're car is perfect and there couldn't be a better road to go explore I say enjoy you have a classic 911 the world doesn't get any better my friend, take it all in and enjoy
Glad you came back to pick up the young lady come camera operator..
I think i wouldn`t fancy any other Porsche other than a historic 911..Apart from the Carrera GT i have just seen on Harry`s garage..
First video im watching of you ,subscribed imediately awesome content bro
Yeah buddy, glad you like it
Amazing video and shots
Nice classic mate. The colour really sets it off nicely. Was looking at some old Porsche’s but ended up going for a Audi TTS MK2.Great video 😊🍺
Considering an older 911 or 912 to replace my E30 M3. Love this colour and spec. Sounds lovely.
Keep the e30 😁
As long as you have £50k spare go for it. Few people have the money spare to enjoy these gems
Super dope shots damn
Great video Sam. I'm doing something similar working my way through 30+ routes around the UK and the NC 500 is obviously one of the venues I am planning to go to. I really enjoyed yours and the photos at the end are stunning.
Thanks. So much great stuff here in the UK.
Love that colour!!
great fotos at the end!
Thank you so much for this experience. Not sure if I'll ever be able to drive a classic 911 beauty myself but this was quite fun to watch!
Thanks, appreciate the comments
long time no see, thx for the content :)
+Kristián Hölgye your welcome. Next in 2 weeks. Obviously Instagram all the time
Great video! Amazing photos at the end but your car looks so lonely in most of them haha!
Cool video, thanks for sharing.
Well done, Sam!
I have the same running argument with a guy at work. He only loves supercars, I'd rather drive a Renault 4 over those roads than a 200mph monster. You get to its limits much faster! Great vid, can't beat those proper colours on a 911. Welcome to Scotland indeed, and thanks Sam!
What an awesome video!
This guy is extremely fortunate to be able to own one of these, whether it be through inheritance or worki JG hard in a well paid job, there’s not many people that can afford one of these anymore. Too many greedy “classic dealers” trying to control the market value of these vintage gems.
It’s awesome to see this car do what it was designed to do, to be driven. There’s too many people throwing money at Singer-esque companies and bastardising these beautiful classics.
Keep a well maintained classic and drive it flat out
Fabulous video !
Nice video man!
Beautiful car and beautiful country side!!
Absolutely amazing ! great landscape, great car (perfect color to my opinion), cool guy
Thanks a lot ; -)
🙌🏻
Just as fun as a 924 SE lightweight! Not a super fast car, but balance, great weight distribution and great gas mileage!
Great car great scenery. Thumbs up.
Amazing video, great viewing. Thinking of touring the 500. Normally do Wales and Switzerland. Personally my concern is the roads for driving.
It’s worth a go. You can adapt the route to be better for lower, wider cars if that’s an issue.
Great car Sam, thanks, Adam, Tofino.CA
Lovely video and amazing car!!
Tow questions, please, is your car suitable for commute? Is it expensive to drive?
Magnificient capture at the end
4k looking insane mate! Still shots look better too with 4K. Could've watched a week's worth of vlogs from this tour! lol It's ridiculous you don't have more subs.
+lapamful thanks, nice to hear the effort pays off
The view of the car through the windscreen is awesome.
Looks great
A great set of stills at the end there 👍
+Ian Cross thanks
Coastal driving with rain and cliffs--you are brave. Nice car.
What a superb motor
The speeded up sections of driving seem unnecessary. Wonderful car and a fantastic route.
Rick Paul Agreed.
beautiful car!!!
a bit late in commenting but.. great video! Best part of the UK for driving! Unfortunately you'll always bump into a few local wxxxxxs who'll hate you.. but they're still happy to take your money.. It's the same the world over. Love that 911!!
Welcome! Thanks, it’s about time for me to take something else up there I think. Or even take the 911 back again, such a good trip
@@sammooresphoto The last time I drove those roads the NC500 wasn't even a thing.. Wonder how your GTC 4 Lusso would cope. The F12 I had until recently felt big on the B roads near me in the SW of Scotland and a GTC 4 Lusso is that bit wider still. The raw sound of a classic 911 is hard to beat though and yours looks to have plenty of power to entertain.
cool car, good photography
Followed you on Instagram now for a few years and never really realised that you did videos ! Great video ! Would be interested to see how far you strayed away from the generic routes on the internet!
+Josh Lydiard I’d actually have to look up the generic route 😂. We aimed for the coast line but picked it on interesting things to see and what looked like fun roads
8:52 The 007 picture, i've done that one before ;)
Nice content keep it up mate
Thanks 🙏🏻
Be grateful its not a elephant, wild boar lately tigers in my part of the world🤪...love that color tone, and the exhaust note in P major b6 dim9th🤘
Do you every considerate taking the F40 to monaco and making a trip in italy with it?
+Diego ramdhani I’ve definitely thought about going to Italy. Monaco doesn’t excite me so much
Diego ramdhani that would be cool
Sam Moores should take it to the neirburgh
que mamon eres, diego
Great vid Sam and superb views 👍🏻 by the way did you buy the Porsche from
Autofarm as I think my mate Paul r built that one👌
+Daddy Smith yep, awesome bit of kit
I’ve had a few powerful cars with 500+bhp…you can’t use it that easily anymore without risk of accident or licence jeopardy (plus I’m slowing down as I get older 😎) - Just acquired a 1987 Carrera 3.2 that spent its formative years in Monaco and its wanted for nothing with a series of tasteful updates etc
More pleasure to be had in wringing the neck from 230bhp with go kart handling it seems these days….😉
Just added 2 things to my goals for 2018 - but an old 911 and go to Scotland in it 😂
Amazing video Sam!! I'd love to know more about where you stayed and the route you took, planning on going to the NC500 next year.
I'm looking to do a longer blog post in the future with a bit more info.
The Chequered Flag agree! Need to know how many days to enjoy the full trip and places to stay (Good beer)
Sam Moores
That would be great Sam
Please as I want to find that bridge and the barn you took pics at!
The actual NC500 website is good, and there's also other websites with loads of information. But each route can be different, and it would be great to know yours Sam.
What manufacturer is that escape? some it is necessary to cut the rear panel and I see that in this seems not cutted. Thank you!
lovely - go have more fun!
Haha! You did the Skyfall shot!
+yasZenn 😂
Three words: wow, wow, and wow!
Lovely sound that car makes....
Sublime
#KeepTheSpotlights 😎
+James Hibbert haha #savethespotlights
nooo
and chrome the rear over riders
When I was living in Ireland I planned to get the ferry across with my FD Rx7 and do these roads. Problem is the Rx7 got stolen and I never did it. Still wish I did.
Damn, you should still do it tho. It’s a great trip in any car
Northern Scotland really is beautiful
I am an American; been living in Scotland off and on for 20 years. Sure it rains and it’s cold, and “we” have all of This!! It’s the best thing the US Navy did for me! 👍
where can i get one of those cars? thanks! 🙌🏼
Whats it like as a long distance cruiser. I enjoy driving, but getting to these places involves driving far. Tiring much?
+Punit S it’s not too bad actually, I’ve now done 6k miles in it. It’s a bit loud so I wack in some noise cancelling earbuds on the motorway. The suspension is nice and comfy
How is the condition of the roads on the North Coast 500: I heard that if the car is a bit low then it can struggle in places, is that right? What would be the best kind of car that is recommended to tackle the North Coast 500? Thanks!
Most of it is pretty good, there is a certain loop on the west coast which i'd avoid in anything remotely low (sorry my brain can't remember where right now). Roads are tiny, very crowned and loads of bumps/troughs to ground out
Hey Sam is there anywhere that you’ve listed the route taken and hotels/sites visited? (Where is that wooden bridge.) It’s a journey I’d love to do in the future.
I’m not sure, I think I might have done a blog post but I didn’t put all the places. The wooden bridge is on the way to Torridon, my girlfriend spotted it as we were driving past.
Back dated 1977 to look like a long hood. Originally 2.7. Must be very highly tuned or have a bigger lump.
‘78 3.0, now 3.2
agreed
Beautiful color. I want to like the post but it’s at “911” likes currently. Why 44 thumbs down?
This video quality and the place is........AMAZING!!!! make more videos drivin these kind of roads
Wow absolutely stunning scenery and photos of Scotland. Your car is amazing and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
How you like the seating position? Isn't the steering wheel to close to your legs?
+Kr Dz it’s not bad, I sit quite close as I like some flex in my clutch leg and to be able to move the wheel around easily. It’s probably a little to laid back compared to full on buckets which are my preferred seating
Can you please share the name and spec of the double pipe exhaust in the video?
+Nick Gawreluk it was a custom job
SENAWRIO. Word of the day.
The thing looks fucking beautifulllll. I neeeeeeeeed oneeee pls lol
How about bringing the F40 to this road?!
Col de Vence + Route de Thorenc + Route Napoleon - Alpes-Maritimes, France another gd road
This is my dream car
That is living
What am I missing on the single track? If it's bidirectional, what prevents a head on after blasting around a blind curve?
+997 dryvr don’t blast round a blind curve, you really could fly straight into someone
Nothing prevents it! Be able to stop in half the distance you can see.
sistew Yikes!
Why would you blast around a blind curve when it's an open public road mate?
Hi, I own quite a few Porsches myself; 959, 993RS, 964RS, 57 Carrera GT, 73RS... I also own a 71S. Wonder what year your yellow car is and how you get 270hp from that? My cars are mostly garage queens but I may like to get a 71-74 and mess it up to get that kind of HP just to play with. What issues have you had by tuning your engine and what did you do to the car other than the engine?
Hi, quite a lot of Porsches! If you watch the latest service video we talk about the car quite a bit. It’s a 78SC, Engine is 3.2, uprated cams, webbers. Output is somewhere around 250/260. Lots of work done to the rest of the car
How much did you speed up the video footage going down the narrow roads??????
+Alan H quite a lot haha, 150% I think
Sam Moores thought I was watching a WRC stage....bracing for the poor sheep 🐑
Nice car Sir, but did not explain why the steering is on the wrong side.
What do you do for a living?
He’s a photographer but he comes from one of UKs richest families if he is from the Littlewoods Moores which I’m guessing he is. They sold the business for 3/4 of a billion a few years ago.
Please we don’t have to have a front tag here in Florida. Nice car
Should take it to stelvio pass as well
oddly I've been to Stelvio and really don't rate it as a driving road, too tight. The back side of it is brilliant tho.
Ever considered putting bigger tyres on there?
+Bryan did for 6 months over winter
👌🏻👌🏻
what is the year of your 911? thx
1978
That photography is outstanding. Anyone know if he or his friend/girlfriend who was with him takes the images? This is only about fifty miles up the road from me.
All my photos
