đ 2nd Boss Guide: âą Valheim Second Boss SO...
đ Bronze Guide: âą Valheim Tips and Trick...
In this Valheim iron guide I will show you where to find Iron in Valheim and how to get Iron ore. The Iron location is in the swamp biome. I will show you some tips and tricks on finding the swamp location and how to deal with the swamp draugr and how to mine iron scraps from muddy scrap piles. Iron Scrap can be smelted using coal from a Charcoal kiln into iron ingots. After you pick up and Iron ingot you will learn the crafting recipe to craft iron armor, iron axe, iron pickaxe which you need to mine silver and a stone cutting.
Valheim is a new RPG survival game set in a huge open world that can be played solo or co-op by 1-10 players and optional PVP mode with action combat. The open world is procedurally generated and inspired by viking culture. Valhiem was developed by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain Publishing. It features a combat system with unique skills, item crafting and weapons, house building where you can create settlements, castles, and mead halls. In Valheim you must summon and defeat vengeful primordial bosses of myth and legend, and collect trophies to progress and craft new powerful items.

I'm surprised you weren't encumbered since you had to carry those massive balls running through the swamp without any armor on
The thing that intrigues me the most is the way he runs around naked with 30 iron scraps. I mean... Where did he put them?
@@danielmonge2318 I think you know where he put them...
@@danielmonge2318 big breaches for his iron balls leaves some spare room I suppose
And with almost no food in his belly.
Now imagine dying while in a crypt and your respawn doesn't have a key.
There's a belt sold from the merchant that gives you an extra 150 carry weight, would recommend before trying to do this.

5:28 To save anyone else the pain Ive had. Please be aware that if you throw your stuff at the entrance of the crypts with the intention to come back later and collect it, you are risking losing it all. All the dungeons reset periodically. You will know when they reset as the yellow mushrooms grow back. Anything you had dropped in that dungeon will be removed as part of the reset. I lost a ton of iron scrap in this way, when I stopped one irl evening and came back the next morning with the intention of picking up scrap, and other items, I had left in two crypts. It was all gone. I would suggest instead going outside and dropping the items you cant carry down in the swamp biome as it should then remain in the world until you can come back later.
This needs more likes
I left an old death totem and used it as an extra storage. Lots of room to put other loot and have just what you need for maximum carry capacity!
â@@93ChristopherC Ive never died in the swamp. Wouldnt like to kill myself on purpose to run naked back just to create some storage. There's skill loss to consider also unless you modded that out.
The way I handle crypt farming is as follows:
Take small amount of wood and stone + resources for a portal
1. Arrive at crypt
2. Place wood steps on the back edge of crypt (opposite end to door)
3. Use steps to get onto crypt roof
4. Put down workbench
5. Put down portal
6. Go in to crypt
7. Drop campfire near entrance for buff (inside crypt)
8. Farm crypt
9. Take all non-metal items back through portal
10. Throw metal on floor outside crypt entrance
11: When crypt complete, pickup as much iron as you can from floor and run back to base/boat (temp base on edge of swamp prefferable)
12: Use portal to get back to crypt roof
13: Repeat step 11 until all metal picked up and moved to base/boat
14: Portal back to crypt roof, dismantal portal, steps and workbench
15: Goto next crypt
16: Keep going back to step 1 until you get bored or run out of crypts
@@Ironbuket whoa lol TLTR well I didn't plan to die haha it just happened so I improvised but yeah that sounds like a good idea! I'll give it a whirl perhaps đ
there are coffins inside everywhere, usually 1 room from the entrance!!
who would throw it on the floor?!?!
Tip for gathering iron: Take longship and the mats to make a portal, leave a portal at your base unconnected and named whatever you want. Go explore your world map, drop down your portal twin when you need to repair or drop off loot at base. My brother and I did this for farming iron. We would put the workbench behind the crypts, this allows you to climb up and jump on top of the crypt and put the portal on the roof where it's safe and out of the way from enemies. We were able to dump all loot that could go through portals at home and put only the scrap iron on the longship. 30 (stack of iron) Ă 18 (slots on longship) = 540 iron. It was so satisfying to bring that haul home.
Also the bronze pickaxe is worth upgrading to max level (4) because the durability allows you to clear a crypt with a back up antler pickaxe and a buddy doing the same, sometimes we would finish a crypt without finishing our bronze pickaxe durability. Currently I run a level 4 bronze pickaxe with a level 3 iron pickaxe. I treat the bronze pickaxe as my general purpose one and the iron for silver and obsidian exclusively. The less often you repair, the more time you save, the more you get done.
Cave and crypt tip: Always turn in the same direction, eg. when you get to an intersection, always take the left turn, you will make your way through every room, if you are halfway and want to exit, just turn around and turn right in every direction, you can't get lost this way.
@ToxicBox Gaming the only exception is if there is pillar type chambers where it's not connected to the outside wall. However Valheim's cave and dungeon sprites don't spawn that way, the same as real life caves in nature. It only really happens in human made mines (which one should never enter anyway) or if a designer intentionally design a maze that way. But lucky works in Valheim
1:37 âyou will randomly come across CRIPSđ§ąâ
quicktip: After you defeat the Bonemass you get wishbone wish enables you to locate muddy piles in the swamp biome outside of the crypts where you usually go for iron.
0:02 "valhelm"
Couple tips for the crypts and metal gathering.
The sledge hammers damage goes through walls, so you can actually kill the enemies through doors and scrap piles without risking any damage from the enemies on the other side. Its takes a little bit of time for them to be close enough to the door/pile, but with the blunt damage it does kill off the skeletons/slimes/drauger quite effectively.
The boats have limited storage on them, especially the Karve with only 4 slots... however you can actually fit a cart on them and travel around with all that extra storage. One fits nicely on the Karve on the rudder side, and you can get 4 easily on the long boat (though thats almost overkill there). You do have to be careful with storms though as they can toss the carts off the boats.
The only things that don't go though the portals are the ingots and ore, so you can post a portal near (or on top) the crypts to transport everything else you get in them so you are only carrying the ore/ingots on your boat. This also gives you quick repair access for your tools. When you are done you only have to break the portal down and move it to the next location.
thanks for the guide. after searching for 2 days in the swomp and many videos, you the first one that actually explains how to get stuff correctly
I love this game! Cheers for the recommendation and content!
These guides are awesome!! I am literally still following the Kingdom Come Deliverance guides even after beating the game several times. Every time I start a new game, the first thing I do is follow the treasure chest guides lol Keep up the great work!!!
Nice, more quality tutorials coming from you!
Super useful .. thanks a lot!
Small note, there is a useful trinket that adds to carry capacity .. might be useful when hauling lots of ore
Loved the video series...so many talented builders...and the things they come up with...fireplaces, spiral staircases but have not seen anyone make a fountain yet. My build..I raised up a small lake but left a little hole in the middle. It keeps its water so I built blocks around and made a wooden well type thing on the top to create a water filled fountain.
You make getting iron sound easy. We had a couple of our best fighters go out to get iron and after an hour one said they are not playing the game anymore after fighting several drauger and an abomination but never actually finding a crypt. I am ready to just offer to trade menial labor items for a few scrap iron :) They have me scared
I'm going to start commenting out of habit to help the algorithm ;) Love your videos man, you put a lot of work into your passion and it's worth it!
Great video ,thanks! Gold star for excellent optimized video cuts and clear and easy to hear audio.
Pro tip; make a portal near your boat at the swamps, drop off the iron in the boat and port back to repair the pickaxe. Obviously this is more useful when you have unlocked the Longboat which has tons of storage room. So, you can teleport back and repair the pickaxe, come back and keep mining until the Longboat is full.
That's the most stupid thing i've heard..
Why not just build a forge where you need it? porting back and forth seems like what a noob would do, wtf.
â@@bt70a9 cause with that, you need to build an actual mini-base/outpost and then upgrade the forge to be able to repair your gear.
But, if you just pop up a portal, that's it. port through, repair everything, restock on food etc., empty your inventory of any other loot (coins, treasure, entrails, blood bags) if needed and pop back out.
As I said, it's a pro tip - plebes won't get it initially so all is good
no the real pro tip is to make a new world pick everything up go the other world then drop it there log into main world go back to home base or keep mining and stock pile all loot in other world, once done on main world go to home and then bring everything from other worlld back to you in maion soorry im drun,k
As soon as i set foot in the fkin swamp i get jumped by leeches, slimeblobs wraiths and draugers......lost count how many times ive died lol
50 hours into the game with my group and I don't have 1 skill over 25 points cus of repeat deaths lol
This is me. Today.
leeches are easy to spot, look for rings on the water, there is a leech.
@@bensdecoypoondummy1189 lmao that's hilarious.
Quick tip, if you get poisoned and you are sure you are gonna die, you can quickly log out and log back in, you won't take damage.
Make yourself troll armor. This has a bonus for sneak. Usually, anytime I hear the sound of a creature in a new place I drop to a crouch. Bring a bow with you and many arrows. It is easier to snipe than to melee fight. Never get into a melee fight with a blob, their acid damage lasts about 15 seconds and is a quick way to ruin your day. In the swamp keep to the islands and fallen logs. Leeches are excellent for their blood bags, so killing them on sight is a must. In my game, a water area only has two, maybe three at once time. If you're worried about one sneaking up on you, just keep to land as much as possible. They can't reach you. Finally... If you see a wraith. Never melee it. Keep running away and shoot it with your bow the way you would with a troll.
Thank you for the great information ESO !
This game is really fun !
I've done a number of crypts where it is easy to get lost. In some crypts you can build cheap post lights, campfires or bonfires. You can also build those lights that go on the walls. I usually bring wood and resin with me. They are so easy get. The lights make it easy to find your way.

I usually just stack the first chest I find in the crypts full of the Iron I get and pick it up after I cleared the entire thing. And yes, be sure to take about 4 pickaxes, preferably upgraded. If you already have found the trader it's highly recommended to buy and use the megingjord (weight carry from 300 to 450) it just makes things so much easier.

Mining was never so much fun . Copper was really dull but this Iron mining is actually fun
copper takes forever to mine
Good thing you don't need it for long
I find iron mining to still be boring. Mining in this game is generally boring to me.
@@commandersyfe5983 it's because certain things shouldn't require stamina, such as Aiming the bow or gather materials all shouldnt require. It makes the game dull
@@munkymittens why should aiming a bow not use stamina? You are drawing back the string to shoot someone. Gathering materials? You mean mining shouldn't use stamina?
It would be really cool to see if you could get npcs that as you build towns, they come in and work there or something
Like terraria?
Would be cool as a mod, but tbh it doesnât fit in with the game. Youâre sent here by Odin to defeat the bosses. Youâre already dead, so it would feel weird to have this.
@@jbird8808 Couldn't other Vikings have been sent there by Odin too, though?
It makes perfect sense to have NPCs.
There are literally runes around the map with tips left by other Vikings to help you
It's not too far of a jump to think that the folks who made the runes are still alive and happy to work together with you
@@jbird8808 If you are sent there to defeat the bosses then why couldn't others, they don't even need to be human NPC's. I think it would fit, they could offer you services and send you on tasks to do certain things that upon completion can reward you with new recipes, building options and items.
They could possibly even be able to help you by farming for you albeit at a slower rate.
They could even make it more like terraria's NPCs by having them be able offer different things based upon which biomes they are in. all in all I think it would add a lot of replayability because it would give you another reason to explore, go back to places you otherwise wouldn't, build homesteads in places you wouldn't have and would just give you something else to do.
Like for example, imagine you are wondering the plains and you come across a Fuling shaman being attacked by a group of other Fulings, you save it and you offer it to stay at your homestead and it agrees but it's very vengeful and tasks you to destroy those who wronged it in return for offering you Fuling based technologies and items, like items that can do Fuling shaman magic.
@@jbird8808 Does a merchant really fit into the game? Also i think finding him is awful. I have 2 chests filled with valuables but still haven't found him.

instead of the bow you also can use the stagbreaker do clear the rooms before you remove all of the scrap pile. specially if they hide right around the corner. its very safe.
Yep it works ive done exactly that many times đ
Tip on mining and pick axes. I use the antler pickaxe and set a workbench up right outside, Repair as needed. Also found 3 crypts close enough to the water I was able to park my boat and just dumped stacks of iron scrap in the hold.
You can build a base right next to the swamp though. In a meadow biome. That way, you are safe and you can make the gear on the spot. You can teleport gear, but not the minerals themselves.
OMG I have SO much work (grind lol!) to do in this game yet! :)
Good video. Pronouncing ingot with two G was driving me crazy but good video my friend.
This is the only place anywhere that has actually told me WHERE to find iron. Not even the wiki would tell me, or what pickaxe to use, just that the refined form exists.
Lmao
You can also use a cart here efficiently. Bring ~30 wood and 10 bronze nails and drop them by the front. Clear the dungeon of mobs, and start mining all the iron. Drop it all at the entrance whenever you get over-encumbered. Once youâve mined it all, grab the wood and nails and walk outside to create a cart by the door. Make a few trips of over-encumbered transferring and youâve got yourself a cart with a tanks worth of iron. Bring to boat, unload, break cart (you get the nails back) and repeat. EDIT: Good luck with the water though lol.
LOVE IT
@@dizzyfist7 smash it then lol. When it breaks, even from enemies, it drops the items, wood and nails.
thank you :)
After 2 swamps with no crypt, I found a swamp that had 3. Playing solo I didn't really want to be making constant trips, especially since the location was such that I couldn't put a house and portal all that close, so I built a tiny house attached to the front of each crypt with a fire, workbench and some chests. This way, I could step outside to get my resting bonus back, drop off loot, and repair the antler pickaxe (which for whatever reason, is almost as good as the copper one at digging in mud). When I finished them all, I gathered the ore to one of the crypt-houses and cheesed them back home through a second world. I could have carried them in multiple runs to the boat-house, but I was paranoid about over-encumbering myself onto the boat with it all and possibly getting killed on the water.
Draugr are not weak to blunt damage... if they were, you'd see yellow numbers when you damage them with the mace. You see white, which means it's neither a resistance or vulnerability. They have no particular resistances or vulnerabilities (though they seem invulnerable to poison).
True Draugr are not weak or strong against anything, but they are nearly always WET which means they are resistant to being set on fire and weak to frost weapons which do double damage to WET status.
The guys was telling people to go watch a tutorial of how to make a smelter for the iron after recommending bronze gear and making a boat that require bronze nails. I don't think he is the sharpest tool in the shed
Actually, drauger are invulnerable to poison damage but weak to frost damage.
Iâve used the stagbreaker hammer and it will hit the enemies behind the doors if theyâre in the AOE range. Weâve killed blobs etc with it before we cleared the scrap piles.

To make the process a LOT easier:
Go farming for iron on a different world than your "main" one.
Be in your base on the main world.
Once you've collected so much that you can't carry any more (or your pickaxe is broken): Simply log out, log in to your main world and you'll be standing in your base with a shitload of ore. No carrying, no sailing and way faster.
Nice vid on the iron, cheers.
I would recommend getting Iron shield and weapon first, then bow, since can block almost all damage income.
armor should be first priority since most will skip bronze to rush iron.

@@g0ds3nt dude that needs a video lol
I am pretty sure the swamp never spawns on the island you start at. Meaning a boat is 100% necessary, if so. Luckily I didn't have to go too far in mine to find it, like the trees are a dead giveaway. It's usually gonna be attached to a Black Forest biome which honestly looks like a normal forest compared to the Swamp biome. In the Swamp, all the trees look like Halloween decorations. That's really the best clue you can have to locate it. Also it might help if you aren't really necessarily looking for it to begin with, for instance I was out looking for Chitin actually when I found my first Swamp biome.
Definitely build a small shack with a teleporter in so you can jump back home to rest and repair and drop off non-metals.
The first time I went to the swamp I brought the stuff for a portal with me, built a portal next to the first crypt I found and then got ambushed and they killed me and destroyed my portal. Not sure what triggers enemies to attack a portal as they usually seem to leave them alone but it's something to look out for
@@Eric_8724 Unlucky mate! I built my portal next to a crypt - it's not even enclosed - it's facing the sea and my 1st tier ship.
The only attacks I've suffered have been from the leaches on my ship.

I like to build chest outside of the crypt and workbench. You can mine iron with antler pick. Easy to run outside and repair. If there are more then 1 crypt i leave the chest where it is and do same for next one. When i have cleared all crypts, i make wagon and carry them all to base.

@@justinsiebuhr9577 You weren't kidding...
I accidentally landed in the swamps because it was right next to the black forest on the island the elder was on for me. Even with a friend, we got destroyed again and again trying to get back our stuff. We were dumb and took almost everything important or valuable, we almost had to start from the bottom to rebuild a ship and go back only to be killed at least twice more each. The Elder was crazy easy. Ironic how we were getting so geared to fight him when simply landing on the wrong beach was 10x harder at least.
My first playthrough and I lucked out with a swamp on my spawn island... Was wondering where to get the crypt key so thanks
Couldnt you have a portal set up near a crypt, take your iron haul in your inventory, swithc servers and put the iron in a box, go back to the main server, teleport, then switch back grab the iron and switch servers for the final time to quickly bring a haul back saving time and headache or does this not work somehow?
Alert alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fellow vikings.... you can also find muddy iron nodes in the side of the mountain in the swamp area
Well yes, but you will be digging randomly everywhere to find those. Those spots are intended to be found with the item you get from the bonemass
Pro tip bring the antler pickaxe and build a workbench outside of the crypt. It can mine the scrap piles and cab be repaired at a lvl 1 workshop
Ty
my first crypt had only 3 rooms.... I got some bad luck here. it was also a small enough swamp there was only one crypt. awesome
Pro tip. If you don't want to use a boat to haul it to base. Log out with it in your inventory. Load into another world you have setup so you log in near a chest. Put the ore in a chest then log back into your main world. Telenor back to your main base the repeat the logging method to pull the ore back to your home base.
This is a so much easier and safer way to transport valuables that cant be teleported
I didn't even need the guide but the content and explanation are so nice that I watched it till the end :) cheers
1:22 well technically yes, but there is a way to be cheeky about it. Make another map and build a house at the spawn to store your iron in, then teleport back to your base and go back into that map to get your ore
How quickly do the crypts respawn? I guess that's a general question for all respawns in the game.
The minecraft for vikings!
are there any tricks to find more of the crypts? I'm playing with 2 other people on a server. If I was alone I'd have enough iron for some neat upgraded armor but since we're splitting stuff most of the times it takes some time. I've raided 6 crypts so far I think but I guess we need to find some more.
Bring materials for a portal and place it right outside the Crypt. This way you can go back to base to repair and resupply. Park the boat as close as possible to the crypt in order to shorten the time of hauling all your iron, because you WILL do several trips back and forth to and from the boat to transport all the iron from the crypt. But make sure the boat itself is several meters away from the shoreline so Draugr and skelies can't destroy it. Which is another reason to bring a portal, in case the boat does get destroyed you aren't completely screwed. Finally I recommend throwing out the iron scraps right before the entrance whilst inside the crypt and hauling it all at the end, after you've completely cleared out the crypt.
something that I learned after trying an Idea, is that you can make the Karve and a cart too where you can put that cart at the front end if the boat { may flip upside down] and use it's inventory instead (18 slots) apposed to the ships inventory (4 slots)
Plz like so more people can see this and not be in pain of the multi trips with just the Karve
This game is basically Outward but better, I would like them to take more of the outward crafting system and maybe invent a system where non-basic higher tiers of craftables are randomized periodically, so you always get a "fresh" feeling. Maybe some random catastrophe event that does more than just ingredient shuffle
I had a question about mining scrap iron. Do you need the bronze pickaxe to mine it or does the antler one also work?
Antler works too
@@ESOdanny Ok! Thanks for the response, youâre the best!
I just made a base at the elder, I guess I'm going on a boat voyage after I merc him!!!
Or you can save scum with transfer heavy iron. Start a new game, make a quick lean-to with a chest. You can be overweight, go to your second server drop everything in a chest then go back to your base and server swap to transfer the heavy stuff. As a solo it saves alot of time. I know it's cheese đ§ but I like grind save.
I do this too lol. They should just make an item or upgrade for your portals to be able to teleport ore. Otherwise Iâll just keep swapping worlds to get around it. :/
@@Mattaruu95 The reason they don't have this is to make the game feel more immersive, it is supposed to be risk vs reward kind of scenario. The simple truth is when going for iron in a swamp 30 minutes away from your base to only get a medium amount and to go back and forth would take 2 hours. I couldn't even find a swamp with a crypt legitimately. I looked for 3 hours before i said fuck it and cheated to find one. This is the only time i haven't played this game legitimately.
@@commandersyfe5983 damn sounds like an unlucky seed. Iâve gotten pretty lucky with mine and found like 8+ burial grounds, 3 crypts already in the swamp. And got a lot of gunk. But yeah who has time to either keep moving your main base or sail all your resources back to your forge.
@@Mattaruu95 It is pretty unlucky. My black forest biomes were pretty good and i have mountains close. I even have plains biomes close but my god finding swamps is horrible. The only ones i have found are so small they dont have crypts.
Sooo, you can kinda use the portal with that stuff.
Stuff character inventory with what you want to move. Log out and log into a different world where you are close to a bunch of chests. Dump inventory into chests, log back out. Log back in to the main world (repeat to move more stuff) then walk through the portal, log out then back in grab stuff and log back out then log back into main world. Now you have just moved through a portal and you can also move crazy high amounts of heavy stuff.
Using another world as just a store house in between things like this, is a lot of effort to lessen the experience and goes against the spirit of the game, at that point may as well just use console commands.
Does it use the key up or do you keep the key?
Would be cool a video showing what NPC is resistant or weak to what kind of weapon, fire, frost, etc.
Great idea yeah âșïžđ.
Have about 60 hours in game so far, most skill levels are at around levels 55-60. This is with only one death (very early game to a tree). It does take a while to get these levels up so make sure you die as little as possible because every setback does take a lot of time
Yeah, after the 60 threshold leveling becomes painfully slow, i'm at basically the current end game and my highest skill is around 65, and that's with 3 deaths over the period of about 80 hours
Eso makes god vids
Yeessss
ESO i got a pro tip for you, its a bit of cheese and people might not like it but you should make a second world, create a small house only for a workbench, a forge and a lot of chests. if you did this and place your character here you can do the following:
1. bypass walking with ores and risking encumberd, you place them in a chest and teleport back
2. extend your resource gattering trips with an infinite amount since you repair tools and store items in the other world
3. people might not get burned from grinding ores
A buddy and I made a base at the Black Forest beside our swamp and just made a cart and loaded 160 scrap then carried it to the base
Pro tip; when first clearing these, use a Stagbreaker. It can hit enemies on the other side of the scrap piles. Hit the pile a few times to see what kind of damage comes up on the other side.
Do this all the time. So op for dungeon clearing.
Drauger are week to frost damage, immune to poison. Neutral towards blunt, not weak against blunt like you said.
I noticed you drop the iron at the entrance of the dungeon. May I ask if items despawn? Or if they have a long decay time?
I read someone saying that if you leave it Inside the dungeon it disappears cuz the game resets dungeons, etc. So you're better off leaving stuff just outside.
What graphics card do you use? I went to your amazon page but couldn't find anything.

...never noticed that the boat had a storage area... now i feel like a proper idiot
haha that wasnt enough for me so i parked a cart in the boat :D endless storage

SOME of these crypts are huge and you can get you a lot of scrap iron not all of them since they're procedurally generated. The large crypts seem to be the exception and not the rule.
Can you build a base inside one of those crypts?
If you want to be really exploity to use a portal you can save and logout and go on a different words with a chest, log back in to the swamp world and use a portal back to your base, then go back to your chest world and grap your iron.
Iâve find one in two different swamp biomes. Very frustrating. I think itâs a BIT to hard to get iron simply because of how scare the crypts are. Not to mention how small and far away Swamp biomes are.
No. I used mace but my damage to them is grey which means they take reduced dmg from blunt attacks. They ar weak to slash attacks e.g. sword, axe
Wow this game has more to it than I thought lol
Make a fire where you're mining so you could get the resting buff đȘ
if you finished mining all the pile in 1 swamp, is it the pile gonna respawn later in a day or two or not ? if not that means iron is really valuable then
Ore doesn't respawn
Sometimes you can find Scrap iron in the swamplands itself. Thats how our duo made Longship before killing the elder lol.
Love this game but restricting items from being teleported just feels like a bad move. Considering how random things happen (sea monsters attacking, etc) in the game, it's an arduous task. I know you can inventory glitch the items but that's a bit meh. Perhaps they could introduce a craftable device that enables resource teleportation or make the resource nodes available in all areas. For a game that hits so many sweet spots for me, this is definitely a bum feature IMO.
