This is the OST to Contra for the NES! But in my own form of Stereo! Which spreads the sound channels and adds a bit of echo/reverb. These mixes also do not represent true, original, or actual stereo that the NES has, this is just to make the music sound more clear and crisp, and is another way of listening to the greatness of 8Bit music. So enjoy this soundtrack in what I like to call, WiiGuy's 8Bit Stereo!! :D

I've said it back when I was young and I'll still say that a Contra movie with Arnold and Sylvester should've been made, I guess The Expendables will be closest thing

The guys on the cover of this game are Stylvester Stallone and Dolf Lundgren. The enemy characters are clearly taken from H.R. Giger's art world, which Alien appropriated. There are tons of Contra movies - this game derived most of its concepts from existing movies.

Indeed, they had a cool lil jingle for there games in the SNES era, certainly didn't match Capcom's, but they would have topped it if they had that theme.

Still have the same copy of this game that I had during my childhood. Everything from the gameplay, to the games visuals, to its soundtrack, was addicting.
It really is a great game, but not as hard as people made it out to be.
I thought it was a hard game when I first played it around 7 years old. Then later I could beat the game without the Konami code, and sometimes without losing a life. Super C is a far more difficult game.
***** It took me about 2 days of owning it (Thank You) to beat it in one life.

My friends and I used to get into fist fights over this game when we were kids; trying to strangle each other with the controller cords and the like. Dude stole the spread gun and died with it. I left his ass behind on the waterfall.

I remember my cousin and I had lots of fun playing two player games, this was one of many, sadly he's passed on, I'll always cherish those fun times.

My cousin used to say "Mmmm--ch--ka--ka" with each bridge explosion, on the first stage.. for some reason is was hilarious because we were apparently very easily amused as children.

hell yes awesome game soundtrack, and a great action game for the nes, still play this kick ass game today.
Great game, gave you so much frustration until you mastered it. I go back and beat it a few times per year, love it! You know you got good at it when you don't have to use the 30 man code anymore. This and Contra III are my favorite Contra games. Hearing the music brings back so many memories. Great era

Me too, and the music was slowed down for this one, but not the second one. I was surprised to find out you were meant to play as Arnie and Stallone look-alikes and not robots. Such a fun game. Clocked it a few times with my bro. :)

born 1987, I'm a master of this game, vile red falcon stands no chance. Nintendo had the best systems, and is still the leader in the evolution of video game Technology. No other system or company can match the power, ideas,or history of the technological super giant. 30+ years and still has the most famous characters in the video game industry, the most memorable music, was the pioneer for cheat codes, the portable gameboy, motion sensor technology, and even virtual gaming, and is still successfully selling merchandise from 30 year old games.super Mario and MegaMan are still household names. even Playstation jumped on the bandwagon, mimicking Nintendo wii's motion sensor technology. In my opinion Nintendo is unrivaled, even by the 3D monsters XBox and PS. A prime example, nobody talks about crash bandicoot, oddworld, spyro,etc. anymore (if anyone ever did), yet the entire world still knows, loves, and plays Super Mario, despite it being way older. Just goes to show that Nintendo's ideas are so innovative, superb, and long lasting, that they captivated the minds of millions, and branded a new super standard of gaming on the ass of the industry. NINTENDO, NOW YOU'RE PLAYING WITH POWER!!!

This was the only game my cousin and I could agree on playing when we visited his family for the holidays back when I was in grade school. Ah memories...
I always use this game first on equipment to see if it works. Gotta have my original NES functionality.

The cover for contra (and the characters) are thinly veiled ripoffs of Schwarzanegger and Stalone from Predator and Rambo. And the Aliens in the game in the end stage are basically the Xenomorphs from the Alien movies.
My cousin had that game. I sucked at NES because I didn't have one. But when I visited my cousin (Like, 2 or 3 times a year) I always wanted to play this game. I couldn't beat the 1st level but I still wanted to play.

Mississippi Dave the muaic plays in my mind while playing airsoft and sometimes humming it and myghad it was a lot of fun.
My older sister and I played the crap outta this game on our NES with a friend we lived with in the neighborhood we were in back in the early 1990s who had introduced us to this game. I didn't even know about the Konami Code which would give you thirty lives in the game back then, but I later learned about it when I was in my 20s. Thanks to Contra, the ever so famous Konami Code is burned into my mind.

I'd say it's the most fitting and blood-pumping NES boss theme, it really conveys the fragile one-man army versus an alien invasion feel nicely.
Maybe the best video game soundtrack of the 8bit era... it is simply flawless....

Contra has an introduction?? o.00000 I was always too busy putting in the code to bother....
The Japanese version of Contra actually had a plot in the game. There was a real intro, there were little 'Stage Clear' images every level you finished and I believe there were other cutscenes, too. The 'Cleared Game' jingle was also different as I'm sure you noticed in the video description.

I got so excited when I heard this because I haven't listen to it in such a long time but some other memorable tunes for me would include: Castlevania 2 bloody tears, Ninja Gaiden 1 Seeking Truth, Captain Tsubasa Kojiro Hyuga's Theme, Super Spike V'Ball Daytona Match, Mega Man 2 Dr. Wily's Castle and Ninja Gaiden 2 Tower of Lahja...man the memories
