00:03 Most badass explosion sound in the universe.
You know a game's gonna be badass when the intro tune has an explosion.
It even echoes in greatness.

This game is when gamer life start.
Damn right!
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
Wow right damn
Daaaaamn!!!!!
I want to get out of this...
Actually, my dad owned this game when it first came out and played it a lot way before I was even born. I remember him coming home from work when I was around 5-6 years old and he would put the 30 lives or something cheat and we would play until we got up to the ice level and couldn't beat it for the life of us lol. Years later (around 14), after not playing for ages, I rebooted the game up on my own time and beat it in one shot and my dad, who never saw the ending before in his life, was so amazed that I could. Definitely an awesome moment of my life as a kid
Amazingly cool story, bro. Beating Contra for the first time was a tremendous moment for me as a kid
Yeah my dad had this game emulated on our computers and me and my younger brother played this and a lot of old games a lot. So despite still being kinda young this is nostalgia for me .
awesome buddy. god bless u both :)
That’s a wholesome story you can share with your children too. Life is dope🤘🏽
Used to play with my mom, we'd fight over who got the spread gun
Can you feel this nostalgia?
Eh noiz
Gabriel Romano Cant feel nostalgia of you didnt stop playing it to this day like me :)
Downloaded the NES Emulator, can't take this nostalgia anymore -_-
I am feeling Cruzeiro dont have the mundial kkkk Brincadeiras a parte, também sempre comento em ingles nos videos desse tipo, principalmente retro gaming hehe abraço
Gabriel Romano Yes sure ! ❤
2024 anyone?

@shadowdragoon6 amazing.. it's 2019 and normalfags still can't figure out how to download a fucking emulator
@@desktorp i'm using J nes emulator and it works for me
@@desktorp haha it's 2019 , We are not kids so we can play the game but won't feel the adrenaline which we felt when we were kids. I'm sure if anyone says they want to go back being kids doesn't just mean to play the game. And playing with a joystick feels way different than in phone.
These 8bit games had some of the most metal soundtracks for games. You just don't get this genre of music as much in games anymore. xD
EssCee96 contra 3 on snes had the livest tracks ive ever heard on that system
It's Konami style. Konami 8 bit music is instantly recognizable.
When i was younger i always thought that these 8 bit soundtracks were meant for a metal band. Now on CZcams metal covers of these songs are everywhere. Proving my theory lol
Guess you’ve never heard the Mick Gordon Doom music
80's and early 90's was metal terrain.
Arnold schwarzenegger & Sylvester Stallone
They're not Russian bro.
Lol its true
thats what I always thought too, lol
Bill and Lance!
I cannot imagine this tracks without Bruce Willis( the early Bruce)

Thumbs up if you bonded with your older/younger brother with this game.
KX5Kat Heh, it was with my father.
KX5Kat With me it was my uncle
Damn, your dad is the real MVP
With younger sister :)

I think the most beautiful part of this game is that it is hard enough to be fun, good enough to replay, but short enough to beat in one sitting if you try
That's a very hard trifecta to perfect: Challenging, Fun, and Repayable.
You don't see short games much anymore. It seems like modern video games never end and there's always something more to do.
old-school Konami music hit way above what it needed to do, it was so great
Old school Konami games hit way above what they needed to, it's a shame what they've become
best soundtracks ever. 8 bit forever
Agreed. How about Metroid. Tough to beat Brinstar, Norfair and Kraids lair
Super C is better
Excelent soundtrack, but that Tittle is for Captain Tsubasa, Super Striker ll, and Megaman 3 second place
@@coorhagon7236 that bullshit? This contra is better.

That's because you never got a chance to play the original version which had the introduction. :-)

There's no way I can listen 2 Snowfield without hearing the bombs in my head. Epic!!!

Aren't you the guy who made japanese goblin?
9:42 the best
I was happy when I was twelve. Everything went down hill after seven-teen. This made me remember happiness again. Or is it happy NES. thank you.
Dunno why, but I love when 8-bit tracks have a bit of that echo.
Hey, sometimes it adds to the impact. /:^)
Kiba Fox Funny thing is, it's not hard to produce the echo-ey sound that you find in Konami games, it's really just one dominant sounding pulse channel and a much quieter and slightly different echoing pulse channel working together to produce this echo-ey sounding lead.
You like it cause u listening to the Japanese version if hte songs!
Listen to the American or European and u wont love them so much!
me la The American and European soundtracks for Contra are the exact same as the Japanese, they just lack the introduction themes. The guy added reverb himself here.
@@Ognyan397Both the NES and Famicom sounds identically the same on 2A03 sound hardware. The only difference in the NES compared to the Famicom is the lack of a VRC2 mapper chip included on the Famicom cart which adds an intro cutscene and sprite improvement on environmental backgrounds which makes the NES Contra a downgraded version of the original Famicom Contra but they still share the same gameplay and sound.
Gracias
Excelente experiencia amigo.

i never beated mario as a kid but beated contra... i still wonder why
Tanta nostalgia.
Remember playing this back in 2006, hehe. My dad had bags full of classic video game emulators and I would play them all. I would like to thank all the parents out there who introduced Gen Z to these awesome video games of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Thank you, dad!
07:31 Area 5 SNOW FIELD,
THIS ONE IS EVEN BEAUTIFUL THAN AN ORCHESTRA.
The ending theme brings tears man. These NES games was such an accomplishment to complete especially when it said "Thank you for playing"
2019 Still strong.
09:42 best, ever. The rebirth version is also sensational
nostalgia ❤
::takes a knee, bows head:: "up up, down down, left right, left right...." a prayer to honor the days when games were hard.
Even though I was born in the early 2000’s I was raised with these games. I remember being really bad at it and just sitting and watching my father and older brother play it. I remember watching my brother literally beat it in 5h and maybe even less. My dad and him always remembered every part of the level, I was always so surprised how they knew everything. I absolutely still love this game
A real gamer should play Contra
*Contra Is For Legends !*
A REAL gamer should pass Contra up to the end
First game I ever beat when I was a kid and it was with my dad. We got to see the helicopter scene together and hear the music.
Really this music gives childhood memories...😌😌
Awww...this gives back a lot of memory back at my childhood...it's quite a good game tho!😎
Unbeatable game. No modern game can beat this masterpiece

I love CONTRA
This game was a milestone.

Introduction???? Contra has one???..........I imagine that is in the Japanese version
+Joistikero23 Yep. There were intro and between-level cutscenes in the original Japanese Famicom release, along with other enhancements like better animation. (The palm trees in the first level move in the breeze.)

A while back a string of four musical notes popped into my head and wouldn't stop looping. It took me four or five minutes to get the rest of the tune and figure out what it was from. It was a tiny portion of music from the Snow Field level. Damn, 1989 and 1990 was such a badass time for video games. :D

The Jungle theme seems to have this helicopter chopping sound as percussion. It must be Arnie saying "get to da choppa!"
This game must be the only time Arnie and Stallone had a full crossover.
I really wish Arnie and Stallone made a live-action movie of Contra back in the 90s. It would have been a sure blockbuster.
@@bumbayker FUCK YEAH!!!
Japanese version has an ending like this.
After defeating the Alien, thanks to VRC6 chip in Japanese NES cartridge circuits, they show the ending. US release and also Probotector didn't have this.

I can hear this 24/7. Fond memories as this was the first game I finished on the NES.
Una lágrima.
Miles de emociones
¡Skillz Flav'! Y muchos buenos Recuerdos
In 90s everything was in it's finest...what a lucky gen 70s and 80s gen were to experienced that unique decade...
the downside is that it makes living in this current shitshow of a generation that much harder to tolerate... growing up in the 80s and being taught "sticks and stones" and not having social media was a glorious time!
Kids weren't sensitive little pussies, some kid said something you didn't like it was settled after school not online, and kids didn't shoot up schools. We watched rated R movies with gore and tits, played violent video games, and rode our bikes everywhere! We weren't fat, lazy, out of shape, whiny brats who sat at home snacking and gaming all day. There was no negotiation or bartering with our parents, their word was the law and we got our asses beat with a belt if we disrespected them or disobeyed the rules, and somehow everyone I grew up with turned out just fine. This shit today with parents bartering with their kids or just throwing the ipad at them instead of parenting is the reason kids are so fucked up today and the reason this generation sucks so bad.
Nostalgia is forever.
Contra's soundtrack is pure fire!
Life was so simple as a kid..
