Revamp time makes its way to another Sunsoft classic, the game that really showcased how amazing Sunsoft was at making games, with Blaster Master! Known for its tough difficulty, this game provides a classic NES Hard challenge, along with superb graphics, animations, and gameplay for 1988 that has still stood the test of time. But of course, the soundtrack takes the cake for the most memorable and beloved part of this game, so many great tracks and an excellent sound with catchy vibes and atmospheric tracks that capture this game. Naoki Kodaka providing some of the best tunes he has ever composed for the NES, and a switch up for the sound programming and driver, as Naohisa Morota was in charge of the music programming and Shinichi Seya worked and provided the Sound Driver on this game, one of the only times that was done for Sunsoft games on the NES. But the Sunsoft sound team nails it so good with a soundtrack that will always be loved and praised!

Sad fact: I got this game when it was released and I was just five years old and it scared the crud out of me. Seriously! The cutscene with the frog mutating into a large monster horrified me. I begged my folks to return the game. I didn't want it at all.
I look at it now and think 'How in the heck did my brain let this happen?'.

hey, it's alright. You were a kid, those things happen. If you really want to play Blaster Master through legal means again, just pay for an Nintendo Account on the Switch and you'll be able to play it and a bunch of other NES games for free.
Either way, don't beat yourself up over it!

I did something similar; we were in Vegas (which is where I live now lol) and I remember my parents showing me a cool Sega VR thing (it was early 90s), and they told me it's just like a video game and if I wanted to try it. I remember being scared and saying no.
Looking back I wish I gave it a shot; I'm sure I would've loved it.

I did a similar type thing as a kid. I bought a scary tales story book at the book fair. The front cover had a rat with red eyes on it. Scared the shit outta me. It's mere presence in my room was bothering me, as if it would come to life; so I threw the book away. What a waste of money. lol.

Amazing soundtrack...but man what a tough game. Even with the pause trick for some bosses it took me a while to beat it back in the day. It's definitely on my top ten list of the most challenging NES titles. And it was quite snarky of them to put one of the late game bosses on the box which I originally assumed wasn't even in the game.

  • @Heyadodin1

Well good news for ya, it is here! But it's known as Area 7 as the Final Boss reuses that theme for it. As far as not being played again I can get your critique on that, but that's a bit redundant to add it again, and I could label the track as "Area 7: Lava Caves / Final Boss", but for the most part, most only care that its the Area 7 theme and enjoy the naming consistency with each Area name :)
