I never liked Yoga until I developed a home Yoga practice. It has been the best thing I've ever found to help me drop self judgment, but it took a while to reach that point. Diagnosed ADHDer here, suspected AuDHD.
Editing to add, I developed consistency by having an accountability buddy I didn't want to let down, and then eventually got to the point my body demanded daily practice, even if it's sometimes only a 10-20 minute session. I feel so much better after it's hard to imagine not doing it now.

That’s brilliant! Home practice for 10-20 minutes more often is way more beneficial for your brain than an hour once a week. And yes, accountability buddies or a group are such lovely ways to create the appropriate support to stay consistent. ❤❤❤

I find I like Yin yoga because it takes me time to register where my body is and feel my way into position/alignment. I need to get into what seems close to the position and then be able to stretch and wiggle and breathe through my whole body to get everything to connect and release together. I'm so tensed up and disconnected from my body it's like the gears need to all work loose and click into place individually and intuitively before the whole machine fits together and runs fully connected. But it's also a trauma release so it can be really overwhelming and exhausting, so it's hard to motivate to get on the floor knowing there's even odds of feeling amazing and sobbing by the end.

This makes so much sense! I love yin for similar reasons. I can feel the meridians. And I actually love the emotional release 😂 but I do get that it can be a lot, especially if you don’t know what’s going to come up.

I feel like kundalini is like ritualistic stimming...

Relatable! I don’t do it anymore but it was a fast track to nervous system regulation.
