Arsenal vs Utd rivalry from round 97 till 05 will never be beat, don't get games like that anymore!
Agreed. There’s really no teams that hate each other anymore besides spurs and arsenal and maybe the el Classico. Apart from that every game is full of hugs and kisses before the match etc.
Utter bollocks,City v Liverpool at the moment is of a far higher standard then anything Utd & Arsenal served up.
The speed, the intensity, the entertainment, the ferocity is on a different planet to Arsenal v Utd games(a lot of which flattered to deceive or were 1 sided)
Look at City and Liverpool, consistently making it to the latter stages of the CL,Utd from '97-2004 made 1 final and mostly went out in the quarters.
Tottenham vs Arsenal is comparable
@@benitezsucks8625 actually made a Semi too.
And the quality was still great.
The modern. Rivalries have no where near that big game feel I remember from keane v vieraa as a kid. What are the personAl battles now, silva v henderson? Milner v de bruyne? It literally does not compare
It's moments like these that made the Arsenal vs United rivalry so beautiful. Only passionate footballers could create moments like these lol. Whether you're a United or Arsenal fan you'd certainly miss that era of football.
And now both clubs are fighting for who will finish 4th and who is the banter club
Arpandeep Singh None of them are banter clubs, you’ve been watching too much of goldbridge. The only banter club here is the one who haven’t won the league in over 30 years.
Im not just saying this cause im a United fan, but Arsenal v United in those days has to be the greatest premier league rivalry ever , every match was explosive and a lot was on the line
It's never going to be the same when hollow clubs like Chelsea and city are up near the top the passion is gone in that sense
Arpandeep Singh stick to munching popadoms football is to complicated for third worlders
That act alone from Keane, taking on Vieira face to face was pivotal. Imagine seeing your captain square up to the opposition's skipper and putting him in his place, does wonders for your mentality and togetherness.
Louie M Amen. Seeing that would’ve put fire in their blood, which could easily add up to extra yards on the pitch when it matters. Animosity makes competitors hungry to win.
That’s what won us the game before it actually started. Keane was on a madness 💯
Keane’s the sort of guy that if you worked on a conveyor belt with him at Jaguar Land Rover he would stick up for you if you went missing and the gaffer was looking for you.
Roy "I don't think it was as bad as that"Keane 😄
He's right. Blokes do that and it isn't a big deal.
@ShiftCtrl85 Whose career did he end? And please, don't say Alfie Haaland!
Roy is a legend. I can understand why him are Graham Souness being very good friends. Ive got a lot of respect for Nev and Roy. & im a Lfc supporter
Yeah I’d like to see his version of bad!
@wildebest harland played a game internationally after the tackle, got injured then, and played it off like Keane was the reason.

Joel Adu-Poku I’m an Arsenal fan and despite us being rivals with him I have an incredible amount of respect for Roy Keane.

Players now are hugging each other in the tunnels. Miss the old days of getting ready for a match and not being so lovey dovey with the Opposition.
As a lifelong pacifist SO DO I !!!!!!!!
I hate players shaking hands b4 the game and teams coming out together. I used to love the opposition coming out at The OLD DEN,Millwall to a crescendo of cat-calls and boos and the "Hometown Good Guys" then emerging to the Lions roar and the players going to the opposite end of the pitch. AFTER the game it's totally different but not before...
Because they're all mates on bloody instagram.
@@Isleofskye if I remember rightly, mascherano asked why he has to shake hands before the game and said it doesn't make sense at that time. He got fined by the FA for it.
Just seen an hilarious variation on this when one Premiership player yesterday carried his child whilst shaking hands...
Isleofskye, no one is a pacifist, all it take is the right situation and you're not a pacifist any longer.
As a staunch gunners supporter, I always looked forward to the battles of old between Arsenal & United. Even though he was captain of our biggest rivals, Roy Keane along with many other brilliant United players deserved so much respect and admiration for how they played and how much they achieved.
We should all remember that when Roy turned professional he applied to all 92 football league clubs, as they existed at the time and was rejected by all of them. Just let that sink in for a minute! He had to work for everything he achieved. Never a bluffer, always a legend!
So he wasnt playing in Ireland first?
It's all explained very well, in his autobiography! Well worth a read!
He never wrote to United!
@@liammellowes6172 lmao again was he or was he not playing football in Ireland?
John there were 92 league clubs in England and Wales he wrote to all of them as I explained! He was rejected by them all. He had turned professional in Ireland and applied to all the league clubs including the 4 in Wales!
This is Gold. Two great players and pundits together.
"It's all a lot of nonsense" - Roy Keane
Fascinating looking at Keane's face from around 6:50 onwards as Neville recounts Keane's role as the 'mirror of Ferguson' on the pitch. the intensity in his gaze is ridiculous - he's clearly still out there on the pitch in his mind making every tackle and pass. Not many like that around these days.
Miss the days when warriors played the game. Not overpaid overgrown kids
Let the warriors go to war... this is just a game.
As a Liverpool fan, I have always had great admiration & respect for that Man Utd team with such great players, these stories are so good to hear from the horses mouth no less... G Nev & Roy both legends in their own rights
There will never be another Keano ever, the last of a generation of CM's who played a complete different game to modern day football.

There's only one Keano.
Lifelong Arsenal fan here. I seriously miss this rivalry.
I'm love the whole interview with these pair. I'm not a United fan but that team was incredible.
Fascinating interview. When Keano talks you listen!
Best thing about Keane Vierra tunnel incident was when referee almost asked Roy for permission to carry on. Keane just gives facial nod. Superb
These interviews are OUTSTANDING!!! It’s the only time I feel as if all the BS packaging of players by promoters has been stripped off and the result is everything a football fan wants to witness 👏👏👏 Absolute respect ✊ Now all I want is an Eric Cantona interview so I can ask him the real reason he left Leeds 😂😂😂
Keane's humour certainly comes across in these videos and can see what Neville means about him being a funny character behind the ranting and intense imagine
I'm sure most of it goes straight over Nev's head. He just laughs at everything to make it look like he knows what's going on.
Keano a real character and leader. No where near the standards that we have in our current squad. Think roy should pay them a visit to Carrington and show them how to be men & play for the shirt. Blood sweat & tears.
Honestly, I look at these guys, and then back to that clip, and I get teary eyed. That rivalry, between Arsenal and United, you can't explain it... It was special and we will never see it again.

Keane puts it all on the line when he steps onto the pitch. I was heartbroken when he left. Neville did a great job carrying on the captaincy after Roy. He carried the fire Roy had on that arm band. Love them both.

If Keane was in the United team now, no way would his team mates get away not trying 100% like we have now.
beach life I 100% agree, pogba would be launched out the team bus window on the way to the game. But my all all time Man. United hero is Bryan Robson. I've had a season ticket in K stand for 30yrs and I absolutely love Robbo. Captain Marvel...The Best I've ever seen. But in saying that The man who's had the biggest influence on the pitch when he arrived....Le God....Mr. Eric Cantona. Oh my days I've been so blessed throughout my life by the magic that is Manchester United football club. We'll never die ❤
Keane wouldn't work in modern football. He'd be isolated and pushed out by snowflakes who couldn't hack his style. He'd be moved on.
@@rivolinho True, too much player power now with the obscene money they are paid. If you are getting like £300k a week it kind of takes the winning hunger away. The reason United are not winning is Fergie isn't there anymore. He instilled that winning mentality and Keane demanded the same as a player which made the other players die for the club and not winning a game was unacceptable. Liverpool have that in their manager at the moment. It's not necessarily about how good the players are but their desire to win and that is proved by leicester city winning the league.
Pogba would not be at the club if Fergie was still manage, simple.
@@beachlife2968 Yeah but it's more than just players and manager selections. The culture has changed completely since Keane was playing. Players used to feel lucky to be footballers and were worried about staying in football as long as possible.
Now they are more powerful than the managers and they're set for life before they're 21. Why would you break your back in that situation. Turn up, give 70% effort, collect your fortune, move to another club for big fee, rinse repeat.
@@rivolinho There is a quick turn around of managers if they don't get quick results instead of them being given time, that's one problem. Another problem is if a strict manager comes in then the players simply put less effort in to get him sacked. They want a weak manager so they can do what they want but what you want is not what you need. I can't see this changing anytime soon because of the player power. It's normal now for just average players to go for around £50m and ultimately it's the fans that are paying for this madness.
Being an Irish Arsenal fan you could imagine my conflict when it came to Keane and Vieira

dolimi jotoo wtf has that got to do with my comment
We had men in the squad in Roy's era and now we have boys in the team, that's the difference between now and then, I wish Roy could insert some sense in the squad now.
Fast forward to Manchester derby, Roy visited Carrington and United thrashed City in their own backyard 🤗
true
I enjoyed the interview, I must say. Man Utd had some very talented players (Ronaldo, Kanchelskis, Cantona, Van Nistelrooy, Giggs and Scholes) and some fit, talented, unbelievably competitive players, with great characters (Keane, Paul Ince, Bruce, Pallister, Vidic, Schmeichel, Butt, Beckham, Neville, Solksjear, Stam...)... and don't forget Clayton Blackmore!!! Ferguson would, shall we say, "lean" on the refs, though, and he had a lot of allies (ex-players, or just allies) who were managers at the time - McLeish, Bruce, Hughes, Robson among others. Guys like Martinez and Moyes wouldn't really oppose Sir Alex, although he was a Great Manager, no doubt.
Best captain utd ever had never backed down from anyone always put the team first a utd legend.
Still my favourite premier league game ever. That incident only added to what ended up being such a dramatic night at Highbury.
That 4-2 was BY FAR my favourite United vs Arsenal game, one of my favourite games of all time. The football on both sides was electric, and then the O'Shea chip? Unreal

People don't realise just how good Roy was. Not just with his feet but with his words as well. When the chips are down you need someone like Roy to pull you up and get the team through.
We talk about the winning mentality of SAF and how the team never backed down and getting late goals and all that and I think one of the most crucial aspects of that was Roy Keane.

tbf to the Arsenal players, they had good cause to be enraged after the previous game vs Utd. Never mind the all the noise about ending the 50 game unbeaten, Rooney's dive and the corruption from the referee and officials allowing anything goes against Arsenal, that's separate issues. The key reason why Vieira & Co were fuming in the tunnel was because Utd back in the October that season were pure Tony Pulis' Stoke flying in with the horror tackles. It is pure luck that no one got badly injured like Ramsey, Diaby & Eduardo did. Neville makes light of it but he is lying through his teeth when he says Utd didn't target Jose Antonio Reyes. They did kick him & the other not so hard Arsenal players off the pitch. They stayed away from Vieira, Keown, Bergkamp, etc... but they definitely went after the ''softer'' players like Reyes. Keane & the narrative from the Utd side talks about ''bullying'' in the tunnel but as far as I can see, it was the Utd players who were the real cowardly bullies because they couldn't beat Arsenal at playing football on the pitch so they targeted their not so hard, flashy players with brutal thug tactics to disrupt them because Arsenal were a better team at that moment on pure footballing talent and ability.
Ok
Been a Gooner 30 years and I love Roy. Back then in the 90’s I hated him but he’s a bit of legend. Arsenal and United challenged for the title regularly, these days we’ve both fallen off a bit.
