@@link_junior Except that's not the reason at all. Germany is a Christian and Humanist society, those are the values it was founded on and they've been the focus since long before the world wars. They place significant focus on altruism (doing things for the benefit of other, less fortunate people) and the universal, inherent dignity of every human (meaning you don't create - or ignore - situations in which said human dignity is threatened, and that applies to ALL humans, not just your own citizens). No one will forget what Germany did in WW2. Germany itself specifically doesn't WANT it to be forgotten, that's why there is such a massive focus on remembrance of past atrocities in our education, art and collective culture in general. They mostly go to germany if they make it to switzerland because there they get anything they want. Not our problem.
Poland avoided it with Eastern European kind of style. They just let in lots of Ukrainians and Belarusians. Cultural difference are really small and they look the same. Almost nothing has changed for them and they always can tell “we have a lot of immigrants”. lol

More than a third of the refugees are hosted in Southeastern Turkey, near the Syria-Turkey border. Turkey allocated 30 billion between 2011-2018 on refugee assistance. Over 13 million Syrians received aid from the Turkish Aid Agency (AFAD). Turkey has spent more than any other country on Syrian refugee aid, and has also been subject to criticism for opening refugee camps on the Syrian side of the border. Financial aid from other countries to Syrian Refugees has been limited, though €3,200,000,000 was promised by the EU in November 2015. In March 2016, the EU and Turkey agreed on the EU-Turkey Statement, which involved a number of political concessions as well as 'another €3 billion in aid, if Turkey agreed to a readmission of Syrians arriving in Greece and tighter border controls.'

@haneefm7020 Here in switzerland refugees must pay for their stay if they have more than 2'000 Euros. Its not a joke. We also take their possessions if they can't pay. Despite race and religion , we took many refugees from the christian caucasians , notably Armenians and also Circassians, armenians have churches anr schools and their own neighbourhoods , there are also parts in Damascus named after immigrants from the balkans (greece , bosnia and albania).
During the war in iraq and lebanon we also took many of them in .
I remember as a kid the newspaper ads for donating to war refugees .
And now when Syria is at war , we are called terrorists and invaders for fleeing a civil war .

After World war II Germany and Poland agreed on not paying war reparations.

I was thinking Turkey will pop up at the end and say "just give me money, I'll keep the refuges" :)
And fyi, as far as i know Turkey has spent over 8 billion euros on refugees while Europe gave them only 2 billion. Turkey already struggels with their economy but they keep spending money on refugees. Europe just doesnt care about refugees or in what situation Turkey is as far as Turkey keeps stopping them from going into Europe. I mean, Turkey has the most refugees ( more than 4 million) but still is the one who get criticised the most. Why?
This is from Wikipedia:
As part of Turkey's migrant crisis, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in 2018 Turkey was hosting 63% of all the refugees in the world, that is over 3.5 million registered refugees from Africa and the Middle East in total.
