- It has been awhile since I posted. I know that many of you share my passion for miniature dioramas, so I thought I would walk you guys through my current diorama. Sorry about the video quality and the very shaky camera work. I am certainly no Nate Taylor(i.e., the outstanding videographer of Dwarven Forge)! Feel free to mute the volume if you are not interested in hearing my rambling narrative.
Miniatures are from Otherworld Miniatures, Mierce Miniatures, Red-Box Games miniatures, a few reaper models, Lead Adventure miniatures, Fenryll miniatures, and wargames Foundry. - Hry
This might be the greatest privately owned D&D mini diorama ever made?
I still look at this whenever i need inspiration, or just to feel good, it literally has that much of an impact on me. Youre too good sir!!!
This is the greatest video of all time. Love this.
Thank you! It is so nice to see others that have the same appreciation for this type of art as I do.
@@MrRyanDevo Hey if you still visit youtube check out my 3 vids on my channel. I took a lot of inspiration from you over the years you posted youtube vids and eventually created some content to give back!
Those mini paint jobs are REALLY GOOD.
I've built a vampire castle that's huge out of card, which is unfinished and plan to D&D with when is.
I love this and your town it's so inspiring
I too have old and new models, lots of Grenadier from my old D&D days that i just keep for memories :)
This is incredibly impressive! Must be 100K worth of stuff there! And clearly many hundreds of hours of crafting, painting, and work. Very nice.
Unbelievably epic! No words. I keep coming back watching this and get inspired. :) Please shoot more videos. This is friggin art!
Man I love this setup, I wish MrRyanDevo would post a update video on his current D&D setup.
I love the old school idol from the Advanced Dungeon & Dragons player handbook. Brought back some memories for sure.
That is an insane Dwarven Forge dungeon set up. I knew you had a big collection, but seeing it out on the table all at once really staggers the mind. :)
The banners for the different sections are a fun touch. And setting up such cinematic moments with the figures adds so much to the entire table. Lots of Easter eggs for a viewer to find.
I love seeing the ocean with all the ships on it - very rewarding. I can't think of a better set of complimentary elements for the boards. And thank you for the compliments on the boards. It's really appreciated.
I'll make sure to send some viewers your way, and perhaps but up a clip of the video on my site. Thanks for taking the time to put this truly 'eye candy' video. :) I think it's the best setup you have shown to date.
Thanks, Mike! You know I love your work - which is why I have been such a loyal customer for so many years.
i want to cry now.
I cant stop rewatching your videos of your dioramas. My dream set up!
wow what a collection the work is astounding, every detail.
This is freakin incredible. Thank you for posting
An amazing setup. I love painting and gaming with Otherworld's stunning models and this insane dwarven forge setup puts it over the top. Wow.
That keep is amazing- I have been looking for it all day! Had to find the video of it that I had seen a couple years ago, found that! Here I am! Google searching for that keep! So cool! I love seeing your stuff on facebook especially when the Dwarvenaut himself posts your builds!
Ryan this is beyond Amazing !
Well done on this awesome collection and fantastic build.
I would never leave my game board. This is a work of art, truly fantastic. I've always dreamed of putting something like this together. Great job brother!
I recently found this video, thanks so much for sharing! It’s fantastic!
This is absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you for such an in depth share of this!!! So envious.
Much appreciated! Thanks!
Love all the natural limestone caves you have modeled!
Kindred soul here! Loved first edition and love love love your setup! Just blown away by your resources and love for the game. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
You, sir, put on your table all the artists i love and follow. On one epic table ! Just fantastic...
I hope you play (or let others play) on it. :-)
Holy shit, everything is so detailed colourful and eye catching. This really makes me want to get immersed and play
Fantastic thank you for sharing this masterpiece!
That was well worth the wait!! Thanks, and beyond legendary as always!!
Thanks for the kind words, Rick!
insane, amazing and so inspiring. well done, thanks for sharing
this is just amazing and cool to see terranscapes ocean board in use. I'm in awe of all of it! amazing!!!
Yes, I was extremely pleased with Mike's work. I commissioned the ocean boards (giving him the tile composition that I wanted, including coasts and island boards) about two and a half years ago. I had to wait over a year and a half to get the boards, but it was worth it. Mike outdid himself with the boards. Unfortunately, he worked so hard on them that he got burned out (see his videos), so he is unlikely to want to make any more boards like this in the near future.
Thank you so much for sharing that, its just amazing. Those are award winning paint jobs on every model and after watching terranscapes amazing work its nice to see how alot of it came together. Wow just wow, thank you.
Thank you, Barret! Glad you like the video.
Gotta love the Otherworld Minis...it's like the original AD&D Monster Manual came to life. I'd like to start collecting them but could only afford a couple at a time. I hope they'll stay in business for years and keep the basic creatures (kobolds, orcs, hobgoblins, etc.) in stock long enough for me to afford them over time.
Thank you so much for posting these, keep posting them! Inspiring and mind blowing (and by showing my wife these videos my own hobby spending suddenly seems less insane :P).
Thanks. I will keep posting as often as I can, but, unfortunately, the dioramas take awhile to develop and the videos also take a long time. And, as I suspect you know, life is busy...
How fortunate for you to have these wonderful creations.
Yes, I am fortunate. And I am happy that I can share my dioramas with so many kindred souls with similar passions.
Wouahou!! sublime!!! magnifique!!!
Huzzah! the best diorama for fantasy I've ever seen. there must be two grand just in trees.
thank you thank you, be safe.
Please post more of you're stuff, your gaming room looks incredible.
Stunning set-up.
Congratulations Sorn, we have wait a long time to see such a table. But what an unbelivable table and minis. Waohhh!!! Best table ever. I would love to get photos of the whole table and some of the differents parts of table to put in my web site.
You must show to everyone this table of our dreams.
Thanks, Tom! As you know, I am posting more pictures on my facebook page - Ryan Devoto
Oh my god, i love your stuff. Looks sooo great
Thank you! Glad you like it!
I love it
Awesome!!! Fantastic!!! Godlike!
Very awesome. I would like to say the only thing missing is livestock. Horses, chickens, pigs, dogs etc.
Wow...outstanding There's a lot of loot in your diorama room, thx for sharing
Thanks!
Wow, this is super impressive! Thank you for sharing. I am a big fan of the Otherworld Miniatures too. I just wish they were easier to get.
This really is quite impressive. I've been doing miniatures and terrain for games for over 30 years now and while I just do it now for myself, I have given a go at trying it professionally at one time. The amount of work and effort that has gone into this is outstanding. I am stunned at the level of completeness, artistry and composition on this diorama. Congratulations! You have helped to give us all something to work towards! Many thanks for sharing this with us!!! Mike @ Terranscapes - this is certainly the best advertisement you could have for your work, that I often peruse and appreciate.... Please make sure others see this! It's an outstanding showcase of what you do!
Thanks, and yes, Mike did a fantastic job!
Fantastic!
1. That is an amazing collection.
2. How long does it take to amass something like that?
3. Fellow wargamers must be drooling to battle across that terrainscape.
we are
WTF?! Mind Blown! Where is this? I need to see it in person...
Absolutely Un-ba-lievable! That's insane! I gibber...
Now I understand why most of the sets are always sold out on the site.... you're the one buying them all. :P Looks amazing!
Incredible!
Awesome stuff. Love it.
Thanks, Jolly. And thanks for the boats. You made the smaller boats, and I commissioned a wood ship builder named Jeff Wefel to put together the larger boats. Oh, and I love Knights of the Dinner Table. Keep up the good work! And, as I noted in the video, I am also a big fan of Hackmaster.
Awesome... thanks for sharing.
:) You are very welcome!
How in the world did you make this, absolutely breathtaking!
Thanks! It took a long time and a lot of work from many different artists.
Epic, well done.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are obviously blessed with significant disposable income!!! Congratulations and well done!!!
AWESOME!!!
pretty amazing. watched mike build that the whole way through for the last several months. now i know where it went haha
Yeah, he did a fantastic job!
Sorn, I love your minis! -Kradlo
Thanks, Krado! I love your work as well. The dioramas you post in the Dwarven Forge forums are awesome!
Mine don't hold a candle to yours, but I'll do my best every time!
WOW!!! very nice!
this is amazing
wow awesome job
This. Is. Amazing.
Thanks. The beauty is from all of the talented artists that contributed to this diorama.
That is most incredible setup I have ever seen.... You should sell admission tickets. By the way I now feel absolutely inadequate with my collection.
thanks for sharing MrRyanDevo
Dude, How about some links in the description... To the source for the various terrain and minis? and artists! I would love to peruse more of their work.
I recommend checking out the Cool mini or not website. You can find all of the painters I noted there.
Yeah! And you should buy all the ones I want and ship them to me as well! Painted too, the way I want. Can't go 'round showing people things without paying us at least. The nerve of some people.
Holy shit this is awesome!
Quite an investment... Bravo!
Indeed and thank you kindly!
Great job! After drooling over Dwarven Forges' castle Kickstarter and homepage, plus Dungeon Crawl Classic rules from Goodman Games, this video was the the best in my browsing the Internet day! I sat through the whole thing, while slowly turning green with envy😀 How many years to assemble your collection? and would you mind throwing out a ballpark figure on the price of all the pieces and commissions combined?! just wanna know how many years before I can retire to have a similar setup😭 or should I put my kids through collage instead? Thanks for the tour, when you start charging to see it in person let us know!😃
It has taken me 4-5 years to put this together. I never kept track of the price for this diorama as I commission pieces and terrain individually. But it certainly is not cheap.
Thank you
If my DM introduces a troll and the mini isn't a classic 1e troll, I sweep off the table in disgust and tip it over.
where did you get the adventurer minis from? the bard and fighter they all look so good! awesome diorama my dude
Looks great and makes for an awsome diorama I can't imagine how much you have wrapped up in it all. Hope you never get a divorce and have to figure that out, treat her like a queen eh. The only thing I don't like about it is if playing actual D&D games on it's hard to see move around for players on it. A camera mounted on a stick to get right down at a figures eye level and take a trip through would make for a killer video add sounds to complete the ambience.
What a marvel!
Thank you for sharing.
You really should video one of your games and post it.
Yeah, that would be nice, but alas, unlikely to happen anytime soon as I have not been gaming much lately, and watching a video of my buddies and me playing probably sounds more interesting than it is. We are certainly no Critical Role, and after some wine/beers, we get a bit rowdy with our gaming.
No probs. Enjoy and get as rowdy as you want.
Oh, I see that you mention the shaky cam. You might look into a shoulder rig to mount the cam. It really helps to steady it. If you are not sure what I mean, let me know and I can send you to some examples on Amazon. :)
+Terranscapes Amazing work as usual. Great to see where those pieces were used. Seeing them combined with all the other amazing figs and accessories is jaw dropping.
wow amazing... would love to see it in real :)))
just amazing, i don't know if you answered this question but the castle where did it come from?
That has got to be thousands of dollars of figures and modular terrain.
@MrRyanDevo, Could you tell me where you got the Drow mini you show at 4:20? I'd love to add it to a campaign I'm planning currently I took a look at the sites you listed, but I wasn't able to find it
It's Yvander Halfblood from Red Box Mini.
Amazing really.
Is the castle made with a mixture of those makers or are all it's parts from 1 of them? (Dwarven forge, etc)
2 questions! how long did it take to make this? and do you just have it to look at or do you actually wargame on it?
Hi Ryan! Listened and scrolled through the comments but the question of "Who made the castle?" was never answered and I NEED an answer ;) also, this is MOST impressive
Very nice work ! Now you need a good story board, more 5s fixed vues and a traveling stand to stabilise the image. :)
wow
Gotta love Otherworld minis. Unfortuantly they sell most of them as single minis and they are expensive as hell :/
Would you be kind to let us know who some of the miniature makers are for the village scenes. I recognize (and have) the Otherworld minis, but many others you have I've not seen and would love to own and paint! Thanks!
Wow I love it! So did you get upset when they released Caverns Deep or did you go nuts? I started buying with Caverns Deep and I fell in love with terrain art. It's become a passion and definitely understand the drive and love to create such a large piece.
Amazing!!!!!! did you make the castle?
Beauty beyond words, amazing collection and set up. kudos! You looking for any players?
+Lost Aesthetic I 'd like to get in on that! haha
I have been playing D&D with my dioramas, but, unfortunately, between my job, my wife, and my kids, I find that I can only find time to futz around every now and then at night building and assembling my dioramas after I finish work and the kids are in bed. As for playing D&D, unfortunately, I can only find time to play once every 3-5 months, which is quite sad. Life is so damn busy right now...
Congratulations from Spain. Where I can buy the walls and fences? Chapter "Farmland on outskirt of
Town". Thank you
Adrian's Walls terrain
Awesome, what camera did you use?
Canon XA20 camcorder
I really wish I had a collection like this. Like seriously... This must have cost you tons of money....
It was not cheap :) But this is my hobby and my passion. And, as a side benefit, I can be a patron of many fine artists.
Who did the larger boats? Great work.
Jeff Wefel did the large boats. They are custom boats made of wood. Jolly Blackburn made the small boats, which are made of painted resin.
Can you put a campaign for this massive terrain its awesome
Where do you get your trees?
Completely drool worthy.
Thanks!
What's the size of your base/table?
Did you have Bohun paint the Otherworld hob goblin things?
Yes
How much did that run you if you don't mind me asking?
You will have to ask Bohun about that as I do not want to advertise his prices. If you are interested in commissioning him, you can try to reach out to him. You can find him on Cool Mini Or Not and send him a message there.
Who made the castle?
So is this what you play on or something? What am i looking at?
It is a diorama. And yes, I sometimes use my dioramas for gaming (D&D, Hackmaster, etc.) You can check out my other videos for other dioramas that I put together, including a WH40k diorama.
Hi, I would like to first say that this is the most amazing D&D collection and set up I have ever seen and it is absolutely breath taking, now I was wondering if you could answer a question of mine? I'm trying to use the coupons for the otherworld's miniatures website but sadly they aren't working, do you know how to use them by any chance? Thank you.
Dude, that was incredible. Your earlier videos inspired/encouraged me to back the Dwarven Forge City Builder Kickstarter, and then to pursue terrain crafting. Thanks for sharing your creativity and amazing collection!
Here's the link to the first unboxing video for the City Builder stuff if you're interested:

Thanks, Bill! I am happy you liked it. And welcome to the Dwarven Forge addiction. Love their terrain!
where are the boats from?
See above. I answered this question twice above.
