  • The Shop Truck seemed to be using some oil between changes. I knew that the intake manifold had been sucking some oil at the base so it was time to get it fixed. I ordered a kit from Hughes Engines and spent the afternoon getting the old girl back in shape.
    Enjoy!

    Did Hughes have the plenum kit in stock ? When did you purchase the kit jus very recently or back a while ago ?Or did you have to order an wait for it to come in ? I checked there online stock an it said they had none in stock an didn’t know when they have more plenum kits back in . If that have them in I better give them a call an get the kit I need one bad for my cousins truck ! Let me know I appreciate an that was a good video 👍

    Is it recommended to put silicone gasket maker when installing the intake manifold gaskets

    • @Chuck_House_of_Mopar
      @Chuck_House_of_Mopar  Před 6 měsíci +1

      That Permatex Ultra Black is the real ticket. You'll use that on each of the 4 corners where the rubber gasket sits. Where the head and China wall meet and that's about it. It's not a bad idea to maybe put just a couple of small dime sized squirts of permatex just to hold the paper gasket in place so that it doesn't move when you put the intake on.
      Does that make any sense?

    • @Chuck_House_of_Mopar
      @Chuck_House_of_Mopar  Před rokem +1

      I don't think that you can expect a coolant leak from the plenum gasket. It could be from the intake manifold gasket itself. I don't need to tell you this, I'm sure, but try to trace the leak back up to the top of the motor if you can.

      @@tinohurtado9471 As long as you have that intake off, you really should replace the plenum gasket. I promise you that it is sucking some oil.
      You don't have to get "stupid" like I did and by the kit from Hughes. Just get a new gasket from the same place that you're buying your intake gaskets from.
