    I once stood on the Tee of a 550 yard, down hill, in a canyon, the wind behind me, and very dry ground, hole in a canyon in Utah. I never played the course before, and couldn't see more than 250 yards down the fairway due to it sloping down out of sight. I was told there was a 30 yard gap to cross that was over 300 yards out. I asked, "where is the bridge?" They said, "Just left of the fairway... We spent 10 mins looking for it near the gap (and a little in the gap) then I dropped a provisional in front of the gap and hit it to the green (it should always be called a provisional just incase you find it further than you thought). We headed off towards the still un-seeable green and... well, It turns out I did hit the bridge! It bounced further down the fairway than we had looked... down in to the middle of the fairway sitting on the 100 yard "plastic ball" marker dead center of the fairway...
    450 yards! Thank God I had 3 witnesses!!!! But, it was in the 90's, so no camera phone.... Yeah, I'll never forget that...

    My friend did something similar - we were on a par 5 that curved downhill and to the right, with a small road alongside the left side. He hit the ball left, but it had a sufficient slice on it to land on the road and bouncing down the road.
    The ball proceeded to bounce along the shoulder, maintaining a perfect trajectory next to the entire fairway, and then rolled right onto the green. It was incredible.
    The icing on the cake was the finish... he three-putt for a birdie.

I hit a 4 wood that the one player in our 4 some could follow (we are all in our 60's, eyes not so good anymore). He is watching the shot and then shouts it hit the cart path on the fly, bounded way up in the air and he lost it. As we get close to the green, we see a white spec right by the hole. Was my ball, 2 1/2 feet from the pin. Quite the eagle. Did not win the tournament though as there were some ringers playing whose 4 some finished 12 under par. I think we finished 1 or 2 under.

    One time, after my buddy and I finished the 18th, we were standing on the side of the green getting ready to go. The next group was in the fairway and was hitting. We stayed to watch one guy hit so we did not get clobbered. The ball sailed over both our heads into the parking lot, bouncing, bouncing, bouncing towards the golf course entrance, where a car had to swerve violently to avoid being struck. It went across the street, down a driveway, into a back yard. We waited for the guy to come up and I asked what he hit. " 5 iron." Well, you just hit a 400 yard 5 iron. He couldn't believe where the ball ended up.

    Funny video. Now for a true story... the story of me, a true two time loser. I went with friends to Myrtle Beach one year and on a long par five I hit the cart path and bounced all the way down to the green. I chipped off the cart path to about two feet and missed the eagle. Loser! The very next year, same friends, same course, same hole and ... I did it again. All the way down the cart path, chipped on to about 4 feet. Missed the eagle again and thus... the two time loser!

    • @BourneAccident
      @BourneAccident Před 8 lety +2

      EnderDj Minecraft Yes, but the ball, on both occasions, was on the left side of the path (it leans that way) and the drop (no closer to the hole) would have put me on a downhill lie for a fairly short chip. That scared me, so off the cart path was a better choice. Thanks for your comment.

      @BourneAccident Před 8 lety +1

      ***** I did not make this up. I am adequately familiar with the rules of golf. I was a single digit in my younger days. The story is accurate. But I am curious. What rules do you think I am unaware of?

    • @BourneAccident
      @BourneAccident Před 8 lety +1

      ***** Oh...obviously you made an impulsive assumption and didn't read the comments. I had mentioned that the cart path was on sloping topography and the drop (on both occasions) would have put me on a downhill lie for a short chip. The proper decision (on both occasions) was to chip from the level cart path, of which I did successfully (on both occasions).

    I did that one night playing after work. It was getting dark, I hit one pretty well but pulled it a bit left. On the left of the hole was the cart path and then OB. We couldn't really see the ball when I teed off, but we heard it hit the cart path. Then heard it bounce, and bounce, and bounce and bounce......the whole foursome stood there silently listening to it. The hole was about 550 yards with a big left turn at the end. My ball had rolled to less than 100 yards out right at the corner. Pitch and a putt and I had an easy Eagle. Except I two putted for a not so easy birdie. :)

    I once hit a 6 iron toward a 160 yd par 3, and pushed it onto the cart path short of the green. The ball rolled 300 yds past the hole. I made a 7.

    The very first full 18 holes of golf I played with my uncle when I was 17, I hit a tee shot on a par-5 right off the end of the toe. Hit our golf cart parked next to the tee box, then proceeded to roll down the car path much like this. When it finally stopped it was about 30' from the green. First par I ever made.
