Thanks! I'm just learning guitar.
congratulations, you rocked👏👏👏👏🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤩
Like you did, I really struggle with sweep picking because it always seems like you have to have reached a basic speed before you're able to perform it, but the drag-stop-drag technique you talked about makes sense, and is a very good way to be able to build up speed and coordination with both hands. Thank you!

Don't call my name don't call my name, Roberto. Hello to Spain or Mexico? Answer me please
Thank you for this. I'm 50 years old. Just bought a Schecter. I briefly played guitar from 16 to 21. I wasn't really good. I sold my Charvel and haven't played in 28 years. Just started playing again and I absolutely love it. I'm hooked and getting pretty good fairly fast in comparison to how I use to play. What a difference it makes when you become passionate about it. I have to say about 6 months ago I came across. Your short of you playing november rain solo. And I was watching you. Feel the music and it really intrigued me to want to start playing guitar again. Because I can feel music too. And I know if I could put that into my guitar playing. I could be pretty amazing Someday. So I have to say it is you. Who first inspired we do pick the guitar up again so thank you so much. I absolutely love seeing beautiful young women Thriving in their creative expression of whatever it is they are passionate about
Way better exercises than the usual spider-walk variations.
Even as a beginner, I can see the logic and additional power of breaking away from the standard scales, but still using them as a base to make it more understandable.
Thanks.
I expect I'll be annoying my family with some of these exercises too.
?
I appreciate you offering informative and critical building blocks to help others learn guitar. All of your music is enjoyable and we are fortunate that you make your musical talents accessible.
Love the clarity and thoroughness of your instruction as well as your skills. Very informative and inspiring.
I've been following your channel for a while and I really appreciate that you offer these kinds of tutorials. As a novice player that's been dabbling for a long time; these kinds of exercises really just bridge the gap to help me to change things up
Excellent exercises explained beautifully! Thank you!
Nice to see you teaching mate. 🙌🏻 Might have a go at a few of these.
Amazing exercises, I will definitely try them all! Thanks a million for the video 😊🖤
Awesome video Sophie!! The 3rd one was super cool!! Much love to you!!🎶🎶🧡🧡🎶🎶
Sooo lovely, Thanks for the help!
These are the ones I treasure the most! Awesome playing. Please do some more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks so much for this Sophie.
This is going to be absolutely invaluable to me.
Exercises as you say but so much fun to play.
Absolutely brilliant.
Legato probably will be my favourite. But they all deserve to be here. Many many thanks.
Execellent guitar instructional video. There are so many amazing guitarists these days and more learning every day.
Great technique ! I'll work on that, Thanks Sophie !
I used to practice the Talk dirty to me solo when i was first learning ,and i’d just do the pull off run at the end as an exorcize.
It really is a simple but mind blowing way of realizing how easy, yet complicated sounding runs can really take you to the next level! I’d encourage anyone to learn it!
Sophie, you are a very good teacher and I thank you so much for sharing your talent and time. 👏👏🎶🎸🎶👏👏
Thank you Sophie Burrell ! Great lesson.
I loved these exercises, they are fun to practice and cover a lot of techniques!
Thanks a lot, I'm a new member and I'm enjoying your lessons and your covers!

Very cool! I will try all of them! Thank you very much!
Thank you Sophie 🙏
Nice. Love those types of exercises as a warm up and shreds between harmonics! Awesome videos BTW :)
Dude your hair is perfect. Also exercise 3 is dividing the scale in fours and starting on the next note each time. I do that exercise all the time with different scales. Doing it in 3s is awesome too !
You're great, in playing and teaching! I discovered your channel having seen you performing the Beat It solo. Your execution is awesome! Couldn't stop watching! 🔝
Cheers! 😉👍
Awesome lesson Thank you so much x
Thank You very much, Sophie !
I've heard the Sweet Child O Mine intro originated from Slash's string skipping excersise. You are absolutelly brilliant, Sofie. Young girl playing and teaching rock guitar in the times of electronic music total domination. Maybe there is still hope for rock.
Woow ... Woow ... Teaching no ITS a bad men.....🎤👫💏💃🧗🧗competitivo.
@@alonsoflorescenceandalive3350 are you alright?
I love you Sophie 🥰your exercises the bestttttt
Very nice lesson thanks.
Absolutely awesome ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love the little string skipping exercise, reminds me of Vito Bratta's solos
These are amazing thanks very much for sharing and love your PRS great looking and sounding guitar 😊👌🎸🤘
Awesome thank you
This is magic I’m away to practice them….. would love to see some more of these 🤘🏻
Thank you a lot for this Sophie :)
Thank you 👍 looks like a fun lesson 😊
Very, very nice set of exercises. I like them all. 3 is a variation on a concept I already use in playing scales, that of breaking them up in sequences and working up and down. I've mostly done this in triplets, but I'm starting to do more 4's, 5's and 6's. I like the way you organize the pent 4's in your head, alternating sides of the pattern like that.
The others are all new to me. I love the drill for linking pentatonic positions. I can make immediate use of that, as I am just getting to the stage of trying to move fluidly about the fretboard in pentatonic positions.
But I think my absolute favourite is 4, the hammer-on/pull-off strengthening drill. I like using legato, but my 4th finger is weak, and my hammer-ons on any finger aren't as good as my pull-offs. This will help.
My preference for more technical info or drills-exercises, if you do them, would be ones pitched like this, to the early-to-mid stages of intermediate playing, or to the more ambitious advanced beginner. That early-mid intermediate spot is were I am right now, and anything that helps me develop through that is grist for the mill. These will help! I can tell already. Many thanks.
I love your guitar so much
Thanks so much for this video Sohpie, I'm not quite good enough yet to get through all fo these but i'm gunna be spending some time getting these down cause they sound great and looks kinda fun as a form of practice.
I liked!
Very cool..
Thank you🙂🤘
Excellent... thank you
Thank you for the tips 🙏😊 I'm just an old dog trying to learn new tricks and your videos are truly very helpful ❤😊
you play very well!
Thanks for including the tab
Hi Sophie,,I'm not sure how i found you but I'm glad I did,,You are BRILLIANT!!!! I'm a 63 year old player from New York ,,playing over 50 years ,,my roots are in blues but I like tearin it up a bit on the metal side too. As a result ,no one knows where to put me ,,shredders see me as an old blues guy but old blues guys see me as a shredder. Anyway ..i like your style ALOT and I'm finding these exercises somewhat useful. Playing as long as I have its too easy to stagnate so fresh material is ALWAYS good !!! Thank you!!!!!
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks!!!
Good video..will give these a go - cheers
Thanks Sophie.! As a beginner / aspiring intermediate player, this is really helpful. No idea when I’ll find the motivation to keep at it, but very logical ideas and approaches. :-) I’ve been binging on loads of your channel content. You rock! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Sophie.
The last exercise is found very much lovely to play and I enjoy like playing music while exercise this. Thanks a lot.
thnks Sophie :) superusefull
Wow nice tutorial
Thanks for that love it
Muahhh 😘
Congratulations on your ability...I tried to play..when I was17 and was diagnosed with a type of arthritis 😢 So I admire your work.
Yo Sophie! This is such a great great video... I am so incredibly lazy with exercises and have some really, really bad habits. It's stuff like this that totally changes my playing when i get lazy and doodle around, making some nice tunes but at the same hanging on to bad habits and not at all expanding on leads and good habits. So, thank you :)
Just one thing: I had to watch the sweep exercise in slow mo quite a few times to figure out the actual 'picking' side of things. As for as I understand (and actually as per the tab itself): down pick all the ascending notes (up to the 7th fret on high E), up pick the 2nd note on the high E (10th fret) followed by the slide up to 14th and pull off to 10th. Initially on the first high E phrase I was playing: down pick 7th fret, hammer on to 10th, slide to 14th and pick it, pull off to 10th. When you played that section by itself you also picked the 14th fret, for the purpose of the video of course as to be heard. If you see this, please can clarify that is correct as my OCD is going nuts :D Cheers alot alot
Beautiful lady with confidence and great playing.
What a lovely human being!
Thank u!
You are Master of Masters
I like practicing as much as playing music. It’s like a game to me as I work harder to get good at all the different techniques. There are so many to learn and get good at. You have a real talent for learning very quickly or you spend many hours at your craft. Or both. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing these exercises. I just have to get it into my head to practice with the metronome all the time.
Thank u a lot
Love your accent (especially when you say 'pattern')! Very clear easy to follow exercises, extremely useful for me (I'm 72).
I bought my prs more than 30 years ago, and still loving it. It sounds just as beautiful playing Los Indios Tabajaras guitar music.
Back to practice your tutorials. 🙏🙏🙏
Love the licks Sophie I'll woodshed the hell out of them
Killer exercises, really enjoyed the sweep and string skip ones but all area extremely useful
"Dust in the wind" started out as an exercise but he turned it into a riff.
Pretty much addicted to the first exercise, I can see how she would just play on it for a while. It’s like when you learn the extended pentatonic scale, you just keep running with it. Great exercises
This was the type tutorial I was looking for thanks 🙏 if possible would love to see a video on the topic : 5 songs that changed my playing.
Really neat ideas! :)
thanks
Love you ❤
Congratulations Sophie, for this great class!! .. I have been a Guitarist for over 10 years and is helping me a lot! ..I'm sorry, I used a translator.
Great stuff! Thanks

My favorite is the single sweep pick part. Double sweeps and triple sweeps take a lot of picking speed in downward strokes and upward strokes on the reverse
Awesome
True!
