- I took a genetic test to figure out which antidepressants I should avoid and which would work well for me. To help me understand my results, I sat down with my friend, psychiatrist Dr. Laura Briz, to dig into the details with an actual professional!!

loved how informative this was! I've been subscribed for you for a while and just the title of this video sparked my interest. So dope that you brought in someone that is educated on this!
This is amazing! Very very helpful to those who have questions about medication! Please make more videos like this or more about anxiety for sure.
Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been looking into it and I found this video super helpful.
Thanks for sharing your treatment journey.
Thanks for clarifying this.
Great job ladies! 👏🏻
Thanks for all this info
😊
Your eyes are gorgeous!!! Both of y’all are gorgeous! 😊
This is great. My test could not have been more wrong.
The first two recommended meds we’re actually dangerous for me. I went to the hospital with Seritonin toxicity (Zoloft) for one, and the second put me in a manic tailspin after taking a baby dosage for 2 day (Abilify).
The third(Prozac) did absolutely nothing.
The fourth (Lexapto) was stopped because my blood pressure skyrocketed, but was recommended.
That was the GeneSight test. $50.
My doctor was also very disappointing.
To note, I’ve been on 22 SSRIs and SNRIs since 2000 and, and two a few years before that.
could genetic dna testing for antidepressants help prevent going on a medication to make you gain weight?
I had a pgx test and found that some of the meds are ones I had reactions to. And the test say they were OK genetically. Unfortunately these test do not take into account organ function that may play a predominantl role in how these meds metabolize.
I have to change meds every 3 years because they stop working. It’s exhausting.
I have tried 2 medications zoloft for 5 weeks and prozac for 13 days for anxiety. I had super horrible anxiety and I have had a bad time with these meds. This meds made me have no motivation, less hungry, crying all the time, very sad, wanted to be isolated, so sick i hate it. I want to get this done because I want to get the right meds for me but it seems like these meds just made me so way different almost worse than I was before the meds. I was never depressed now I feel like I am.
Are you better now?
@@archk6791 ehh I'm getting there
@@danikacortez691 did you get the test?
hope you're still doing ok :)
Anna nice of you to bring you friend who seems intelligent
I can tell you my experience
I had depression and anxiety
Gladly depression has gone
Just some anxiety
It’s strange
I never had anxiety before
When I had depression I took lexapro
I don’t think it really made me human again
Maybe less thoughts that all
But not happy go lucky
So I stopped them
Due to side effect
I started taking tramadol and wow
Depression gone
But suffer anxiety if I don’t take tramadol
With it I’m super man
I feel lexapro caused me anxiety
But I suppose it’s better than depression
I also want to say
Doctors do not know anything about depression and anxiety other than wrong a prescription
I can say I take cbd oil as well
I feel it’s good for sleep
But not sure if it’s helping anxiety just yet
Mick Hal did u stop taking meds
Mario Avila
Yes I stopped lexapro
I started taking tramadol or Kratom
They work much better
They also gave me energy to go out in the sun and enjoy life again
Mick Hal in how long did you see changes
Mario Avila
1 hour
Mick Hal did u do the testing
citalopram is not lexapro. citalopram is Celexa. She should have spoken up.
Celexa is Lexapro's "mother" if you will. Lexapro is it's baby on steroids lol.
Citaoplram has extra isomer cause me worse side effects the escitalopram that only has the one isomer
