The Echidna....'The most Australian reason for a Safety Car'
Sneaked in to get a better - and free - view of the race.
Still remember that one as clear as if it was yesterday.
I thought Knuckles liked speed?
@@juim1j 🔥🔥🔥
@@juim1j He love speed so he trying to watch inside the track 🤣
That 2005 Bathurst had absolutely EVERYTHING
Yeah, everything from a loose toe link on the Triple 8 Falcon, the errant wheel off Paul Dumbrell's car, the balaclava that Ambrose forgot to wear and the verbal spat with Greg Murphy.
Bloody frostbite
The 2014 race had even more of absolutely EVERYTHING
@@lordracer7743 The 2014 race was in a league of it's own as far as drama & action is concerned. The only thing that didn't mess up the race was rain. There will never be another one like it!
I will never EVER get over Coulthard holding the field up, I can't explain how furious I was at the time.
Yeah, that was a sorry piece of strategy. Love how in the interview the team member claims overheating under the SC. Umm, speed up and get some air moving through the rad, duh. What cheek.
I'll never get over that Ambrose didn't flatten that piece of crap,he should have given the bonehead a nap, Coulthard or his race engineer just didn't want to double stack
"I don't know where the accident is"
Brother, it's 150m from your pit garage. You can see pit lane in the shot.
DJR and 888 are both guilty of destroying everyone else's races and the fairness of the series for their own gain
well penske is the biggest cheats in motorsports
This is why the Bathurst 1000 is the greatest race, anything can and will happen, even things you never even thought could happen, ever year something absolutely bizarre happens, gotta love it
Expect the least expected?
There is something about that Mountain that no other track has.
3:23 iconic Murphy moment
HOLY COW! How on earth did Lowndes survive a high speed collision with the errant front tyre?
Roll Cage holding strong
The Larry Bar ironically.
@@Preso_ Yes, I heard Craig Lowndes say to Cromley during an interview in 2012 that the diagonal bar saved him from serious head injuries.
I think they took the front and rear glass out and let him finish the race from memory.
@@scubametalhippy Yeah I noticed
0:54 Not only hit his teammate, but pushed his teammate into Percat, who's also part of the team.
He was a Walkinshaw driver at the time.
To this day, I will maintain the Larry bar saved Lowndesy's life.
Too right. If that wheel had of gotten inside the cabin it eould have been game over for Lowndes.
Who is that bar named after?
@@FlashoftheBlades Larry Perkins, who first brought it in.
@@walover165 Ah, that name sounds familiar.
@@FlashoftheBlades
Larry Perkins
That echidna was just minding his own business
"How do you know it's a he?"
Well what is it then?
@@rjskillz92 just saying that cause the commentators said it was a he
@@bentsgreen3704 and I'm literally just repeating what Skaifey said.
looking for master emerald
3:57 it’s crazy after this, and starting at the back of the grid PM and CM still won Bathurst
And Moffat & Douglas after being in the fence twice somehow still finished 2nd. The 2014 Bathurst 1000 will forever be the greatest Motorsport race in history!
@Jack Stevens is my favourite 1000 for sure, it was so filled with drama and a result no one expected.
2006 was special for sure as we all know but 2014 absolutely popped off
I still find it crazy that the cars involved in the turn two incidents between 3:51 and 4:01 went on to finish 1st and 2nd that year.
What a great compilation on this iconic race!
2005 was the coldest I've ever been in my life! I'll never forget being there.
“One of those things” he says with a grin
😃 one of those things
It's a classic "I've found a loophole in the rules and used it to perfection" kind of smile
So many crazy moments there.. amped for next weekend!!
my favourite is the 2005 controversy i mean it's head-to-head like very insane
What a lucky little critter, glad it made it unharmed, respect to the drivers for avoiding it!. 😊
This is such an incredible track, i absolutely love it.
“Race control have not told us where the safety car is, go very slowly use extreme caution”
Absolute genius. Did they get a penalty for backing the pack up there? Penalty or no, still genius.
Yes, they were penalized
At 8:45 where he says it’s one of those things isn’t it with that smirk on his face is what happens when an honest person gets caught red handed with whatever they’re doing that they know is wrong and dishonest
2019 was some of the worst sportsmanship I’ve ever seen
Why?
@@KingL1berty fabain coultard dropping back massively under safety car to limit the effect of the double stack
Agreed that was, and still is disgusting. Ruined so many peoples races, Surprised DJR wasn't disqualified from the whole event
Yes mate there's totally true
Utter filth by Fabian and Penske.
Just awesome 🤟There's something captivating about Supercars
5:06 Thought the commentator was going to drop the f-bomb for a second there.
Even today that five minute penalty for Murphy seems very harsh.
Almost as bad as stripping a win away.
Never a Murphy fan but that was totally unjustified
Winterbottom's rear is on FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥
Good old days when we're still manufacturing cars.
2:30 Good work from the fireys, that could've ended a whole lot worse.
2:00 barely holden together huh
3:28 More context for the Whincup 2015 safety car incident: there's a longer onboard from Whincup's car which shows that the green lights on the SC were indeed being displayed (they flashed three times as he approached). This wasn't shown on the official broadcast, and isn't in this edit, but it can be viewed by searching for the clip titled "Jamie Whincup interview with Mark Skaife - 2015 Bathurst". The rules stated that you were allowed to pass the SC when given a signal (the green light), so he was obviously hoping to capitalise on the mistake of the SC operators.
Wrong. Was just Whincup and T8 doing what they always did and trying to get away with flouting the rules
@@sdstewart87 There's literally video evidence showing the green lights in the video I mentioned.
You're correct. The first flash over the crest on Mountain Straight was green! Whincup was hard done by that day, you can't expect to change the lights on a car approaching at 255kph it's ridiculous to expect it to slow up in time.
Poor form for that to be left out in the edit. Clearly not wholly or predominantly the fault of the driver & felt like the driver was scape goated to try to mitigate damage to the institutions reputation. It's water under the bridge now you'd hope with the benefit of hindsight people could admit that he was definitely shown the green lights. Also fun fact, our peripheral colour vision is terrible, our eyes are much worse than cameras but our brain makes us think they work like cameras.
@@_j_j Indeed.
Proper motor racing ❤️
2014 Bathurst was just something else...
Yeah the poor road surface quality if I remember correctly. If that's the one I'm thinking of where part of the track was breaking up. That was horrible.
@Blair Sauer yeah that's the race, but it was the "road breaking up" part that made it a brilliant race, there were SO many things that happened before, after and because of the red flag to fix T2. Definitely worthy of "the great race" title
THAT is crazy drivers 😎🤠
Knuckles almost got run over.
There were no Roos or water hazards featured. Come on guys
The one where he pulled off with the gas hose connected, those guys were ready they were spraying fire suppressant on there immediately.
1:12 look at the back of the ford it’s got it’s tail on fire at this Bathurst circuit of 2009 coming in the pits
Hands down best race in the world....leaps ahead
Never ending action,I love it,
2:23 Greg Murphy received a 5 minute penalty for this incident in 2002
They didn't show the kangaroo , the dog or the horse, but then again I'm old so I've seen a lot. Also Brock getting shunted from behind as he crossed the line in 84, by his team mate (he was blinded by the setting sun) or Wincup lining up Tander
Bruh, they did get Knuckles on the event
nice complation
I don’t think many people know this but when the echidna was there, there was also a albino Kangaroo
What was the "controversial" bit about Skaife/Jason Richards 2002 win??
R.I.P commodore you went out the champion
I love the Echidna lmao
1:57 door 😂😂😂
FAF that was. I vaguely remember that one.
Ambrose versus Murphy, 2 angry men
My boy knuckles brought out the safety
Is there any context to the "Plastic Bag Conspiracy" at 11:14, from the 2002 race?
They were expecting the car to overheat and from memory he slowed his pace slightly, and everyone though it wouldn’t make it.
@@thesausage351plus lowndes had to stop because a plastic bag aswell
@@KBEXAU yeah, that’s right. Not like Moffats GTHO screaming with a cardboard box over the grille. (Also happy 84th birthday to Allan Moffat today 10/11)
Very suspicious, the car that caught fire immediately followed by the KFC ad for the flaming sizzlers
i don't get it. What was with the 2002 plastic bag controvercy? I did not see anyhing that seemed strange.
Gusts of wind was the reason why Craig Lowndes retired from the race although Skaife soldiered on with a plastic bag stuck on the radiator in which the oil and coolant temperature went off the scale.
@@F1Kamel_1992 aha. I get it.
Yes 2014 was a crazy year
Whats the story behind the bag one?
Gusts of wind was the reason why Craig Lowndes retired from the race although Skaife soldiered on with a plastic bag stuck on the radiator in which the oil and coolant temperature went off the scale.
We need these cars in acc looks like fun espacially that volvo
What are those LED lights on the right side of the front windows?
I think that shows if either the main driver or co-driver is in the car. Idk for sure tho
Murphy hit him with full throttle. NO backing off for the corner..WHAM..
Ross Britton. What do you expect when Ambrose turned in front of Murphy
@@peterbarber7613 Accident was completely Murphy's fault. Ambrose would have easily put that 2lb sook Murphy's lights out and I wish he did.
@@bogged2theeyeballs695And I wish that Skaife had done the same thing to Ingall at Eastern Creek in 2003.
Aunque son extractos de vídeos ya vistos interesa volverlos a ver. 👍👍🇪🇦🇦🇷
That's really funny the Chrysler 300 failing apart as it drove down the road. Welcome to reality
Can you add the bathurst 1000 2010 please
greg murphy might be the biggest baby in australian motorsport history
1:10 I think he needs to be renamed Mark Firebottom after that
Yeah he wasn't very "frosty" that day.
I expected more aggressiveness in this
02:22 awesome fore sight by the Marshalls 🫡
03:28 - What’s a “SAFTEY CAR”?
3:19 5 MINUTES!
I wonder if Marcos wasn’t the only one who wasn’t wearing one
Mate, Marcos was a target back then, they wouldn’t have even looked at anyone else.
you could fill this with 2014 stuff
Didn't Skaife have a drive through for his rear door being open
Best time in v8z
Supercars. What was so bizarre and controversial about the Scaife drive at the 12 minute mark of this video??
3:28.....Saftey Car?
Supercars needs a proof-reader
13:36 So thrilling to watch 🤣
The organizers should introduce an "Animal on track" hazard flag.
Thats what Yellow/ Red and Yellow is for, but if Supercars does it like that idk
@@dukedragon28Yellow flag with an animal silhouette on the flag, perhaps?
Look at all them V8 Vectras...
Ford Mustang!!
As soon as Fabian went stupidly slow, we all knew the pressure was off car 17s pitstop.
120+ laps of good racing went down the drain for every other team and driver.
Didn't really change the pressure on 17 much, they were racing triple eight for the lead in that stop, would have had a couple of seconds buffer behind them too regardless. It was purely to benefit Coulthard because the double stack would have sent him tumbling. It did up the pressure on the rest of the field though, and kind of all for nothing as the penalty they got negated any gains they got (and then some).
KFC Zinger replay lol
7:45 - The exact reason teams shouldn't be allowed. Absolute opposite of sportsmanship.
Yeah, pretty disgusting, I was told after that this happened and why. And then told the leader is known for doing dodgy and shady things.
Hahaha knuckles
1992?
what a robbery in 2019
what Crazy Bizarre in Bathurst these days.
Are 2023 supercars all V8?
yes
van ginsbergin. dude just change your name as the commentator cant pronounce it.
SVG!?!
I'm sure a few commentators have used that?
"I dont know where the incident is" ..."I don't know where the incident is"..."I don't know where the indident is..."I don't know...." really dude? You think he got it?
BATHURST IS RUINED WITHOUT AN AUSTRALIAN CAR AT ALL ! R.I.P THE KING HOLDEN 🌹
Yeah, they don't even have an Australian market only model for a non-Aussie brand like the old Ford Falcon, would be like if Nascar only had foreign cars and no Chevys or Fords.
15:04 “carbon fibre”🤣
Yeah the carbon fibre is brutal. I remember at 2005 Oran Park, as they were clearing debris a marshal tried to pick up a broken carbon fibre airbox, it sliced right through the glove. When you see a horrific crash that's the least likely way you think someone is going to get hurt haha
@@bartonez123 it is like fibreglass, but made of directionally woven carbon, fibreglass can cut you just as easily and embed fibres in your skin that cause irritation and pain until they come out or get removed, which makes it even worse than carbon fibre
No 'jeez is that a tent'??
Greg Murphy is by far the biggest W⚓ in Supercars history
Maybe but dude can drive
Well said
Bathurst race is mad, and way to many rubbish drivers, drive like their at the track when on public roads.
I'm surprised the incident between Mark Skaife and Russell Ingall wasn't included in this. The one where Skaife had the collision with the wall coming down conrod straight and for whatever reason may have had help from behind, he then gets out of the car with rage and walks out towards the track and Russel Ingall was coming out of Forrest elbow onto conrod. Skaife points the finger at Ingall as he approached where Skaife had crashed, Skaife by now is on the edge of the track and Russell Ingall swerved at Skaife and Skaife walk off and climbs over the wall off the track. You know the incident I'm talking about. 2005 Bathurst 1000 for memory.
That was at Eastern creek, not Bathurst
@@soarer43 oh ok. I thought it was Bathurst but anyhow.
@@soarer43 Eastern Creek 2003
OH DEAR !!!!! There is a bag of prickles on the race track. TYRE ALERT !!!!!!
Echidna? the fug is that :)
looks like hedgehog and mole hybrid.
great driving
Wanna hear something really mad? They lay eggs. One of only two mammals that do this (the other one is the platypus). They're called monotremes. Australian wildlife is wild man.
Murphy really was an arsehole when he was driving 😂
Really? I didn't think he was that bad.
Yep Always
My god people still get salty over 2019. Still lives rent free in peoples mind.
Just show the cheating in so called professional sport.............pppfffftttt
Ambrose is a PoS
5:39 one of the dumbest observations ever by Neil Crompton. No damage when Lowndes went out of shot then suddenly damage when he is back in shot is a dead giveaway that the wheel hit him, not to mention the in-car footage of the wheel hitting him and he still says “he is a very lucky man not to have copped that wheel!”
He meant "in the head" he knew the car was hit
@@ukLeeham720 that makes sense. Lowndes was thankful for that Larry bar that race control tried to outlaw…
Even the animals in Oz are backward lol
A great video on why I have no interest in supporting this category. It's not racing, it's entertainment with the sponsor's needs taking priority.
How is it not racing? Incidents occur in racing, and the majority of this video is either driver error or team error.
