7:40 gotta admit, it looks mad how their spins were synchronised
tandem 😂
🤣
As soon as I saw that part I went straight towards the comments lmao
For me, in racing games, this is why I fear the mountain. Because if you make a mistake, the track will make you pay dearly.
True. Even in iracing i break out in sweat every year once its freen flag and the race starts. I cant even imagine what it feels like to actually drive this track, let alone in a supercar.
Oh please. Get your CAMS licence and start racing for real.
@@emojack You sweat playing a game?
If you make a mistake, you pay dearly. If someone near you makes a mistake, you might pay dearly too!
There is a saying of one of the places i race at and it it Hampton bites ( for context Hampton is the place i race at and it is very narrow dirt tracks )
@1:45.
The car catching on fire. When you see this and realise how dangerous the job of a marshall actually is. It is like a firefighter. Always going into the the fire to save somebody. Nothing but respect for them. Thebunsung heroes of any racemeeting ever held
and risk of cars possibly running over or straight up flying into them.
@@donnycorn3086 i think sometimes the racers are safer than the marshalls
@@paulvisage2311 nice argument, paul, why don't you back it up with a source?
@@donnycorn3086 my brother-in-law was a marshall at phakisa raceway here in SA up till about 2008. They had a few moments in the 15 odd years that he did it. A racer's car is fitted with rollcage firesurpesser system(nowawadays) he does wear a fire suit. Marshall's have a suit and a helmet and barriers. That is it. He could tell of the near misses they had when carparts flew past them. Or nearly came over the barrier. I remember a few videos on youtube of marshall's being seriuosly injured or even fatally injured on racetracks all over the world
@@paulvisage2311 i apologize. I mistook the safer part as "being a safer person" and not "being in a safer place".
I've been to a race kart once, and i remembered a mechanic marshall nearly got hit by one of the karts driver who mistook the brake pedal for the gas pedal.
Once again, i'm sorry for the misunderstand.
That rollover in the chase just shows how incredibly well built these cars are.
A crash there at wild speed, demolishing the car and within minutes he is out and walking around.
That there are so few bad injuries with some horrific crashes still amazes me.
Without doubt, world leading designs and safety gear, with arguably the best touring car drivers in the world.
Realy saddens me that this year is the last year of a red lion team at bathurst.
Glad they went out with a win.
The crash Mostert had back in 2015 still gives me the shivers, that was horrific and could've got so much worse. Not just for him but for the stewards as well..
totally the one that rattled my cage just watching it... holy cow that was a harrrrd hit, that car was written off before it even came back to earth...
Brutal..
and yeah the stewards would have let drops go... so lucky
It is haunting as it came from nothing but driver error in a place of wonderful partnership of car and driver with flow and control . Out of the blue came the blue Mostert falcon sideways and pin ponging of the walls. It’s haunting our memory’s just think about Chads resolve
5:35 You watch that crash and realise that Paul Weel was very lucky.
two years earlier in the 2nd tier Mark porter was killed in a very similar accident a little further up from where this crash happened.
This crash and the one you mentioned shows just how lucky Ash Walsh was in 2018 for being in a left hand drive car when the same thing happened. Even with the safety improvements 10 years makes, a GT3 car carries so much more speed across the top that if he'd been on the right hand hand side that would've been serious injuries or death. How with two very serious crashes in the same spot, a warning system of sorts wasn't implemented I have no idea
No matter how many times i watch that incident, i'm shocked that Paul survived
What a horrible t-bone crash.
That driver refused to wear new safety kit. It's why they all must wear it now
@@JB-vd8biWhich kit?
12:40 "Paul Weel at the wheel " cracked me up 😅💀
Cracked me up like a Egg ;)
1:14 y,b,Fb,sbnf gf
There's not many crashes that give me the chills, but Chaz's crash does no matter how many times I watch it.
Yeah agreed, it's brutal. Especially considering his injuries.
Also the Volunteers who escaped too if you look closely
@@Suspect333 My god... I watched it again after reading about the injuries and you can see his left wrist and left leg just past the knee are both snapped clean in half.
The onboard clip of that final impact just shows you how unforgiving newtons 3rd law can be, a huge amount of that impact force still translated to his body through the car.
Yeah just figured out which one it is, holy crap, like you can see his leg break. It's brutal.
holdap crime
Back in -05 I shipped my bike from Norway to OZ for a six months walkabout in the Australian outback. Mount Panorama happends to pop up whilst enjoying the Australian hospitality of what to become good friends of mine for years to come. I had the opportunity to take my bike a few laps around the track and man I tell you this - nothing but respect for the drivers, this track is brutal. Comming down from the montain where frightening, My brakes faded out in matter of minutes and the share force pulling the bike towards the fence going down - where huge..
Thank you for posting,
Helge
lucky man...
Watching it on a screen doesn't give a true indication just how steep the climb up the mountain or the descent actually is. Driving it is the only way to really know.
I hope it was while it was track season. This is a public road most days
@philleotardo_o and even then she's a public road
@@JB-vd8bi Mate - no, it was open public road according to the speed signs posted along the track. The track was a handfull for a more than 25 year old bike fully loaded for a 4 month trip. Track is as you statet ( back then it was) open public road where speed limits reside.
An absolute joyride on the old girl.
Decade after decade Bathurst really is the highlight of the Motorsport year...
Jason Bargwanna: Nope.
12:28 a perfect reason why that sandtrap was poorly placed.
1) One car running through it creating a dust cloud.
2) A second car unsighted cannot make the correct turn in into the corner and makes the tyrewall.
3) A third car, again unsighted by the dust crashes in the already stranded car.
4) And as highlighted earlier in this compilation, cars stopped on race line now completely blocks the track. The sandtrap prevents a clean way for drivers to go around.
I'm glad it's a Tarmac runoff now.
True. Sandtraps are to slow down cars before a wall and should NEVER lead back to the track. I wonder who thought that would be a good place for sand...
It's not there anymore, there is a road now here
they could at least have made the sand wet - no dust and better deceleration
Dick Johnson's XE Falcon leaving the track in 1983 is one of the most horrific crashes I can recall. Considering the safety equipment back then was very rudimentry compared to now he was extrordinarily lucky
Apparently he sailed between 2 massive gum trees that would have ended him.
Craig Lowndes must of sent that wheel into orbit hitting it where he did
Seriously! Bad cameraman for not getting the rogue wheel in frame. I mean it's a bouncing wheel on the racing line, why wouldn't you film it?!
Some say it’s still travelling to this day
It's happened at Calder Park thunderdome on the international race track connecting to the drag strip
@@hadrianfry your from the city/suburbs arnt you
@@hadrianfry you tried🤙
Don't worry about replying save the time for paying the bank back what you owe
14:06 A memorable moment that would set up for an amazing race throughout that day
A fellow team mate said he bets ten bucks Skaife doesn’t make turn 1.
8:59 i dont know why i thought this was so funny but the big reveal of them looking almost exactly the same got me
That pinball crash… a friend of mine was a marshall at the corner right before it. Took 3 hours to get hold of him and check he was ok coz they were all so busy after it.
Im glad that those crash barriers worked that day. Crazy speeds!
Mostert crash always makes me wince
The mostert crash is evidence of how unforgiving the mountain is. One tiny mistake destroys a racecar
one of the trackside marshals got really hurt in that accident...I'm kinda shocked they showed it.
Totally agree. The mood in the bunker just after was sickening. The no one said anything but you could read the faces of horror. I couldn’t Concentrate on my job
Ended up with a broken leg if I remember correctly.
@@DreamcrusherNZL correct. And pins
Some real memories of 20 years watching the 1000 in these clips. Some great drivers and fantastic liveries.
This mountain is special. I am from America and not many Americans understand the absolute royalty of this track. They say the greatest track in the world is Daytona, Le mans, Nordschleife, Monaco NO BATHURST is the greatest track in the world!
There is just something about this track for sure - you can win here, but you can never claim to have conquered it. The margin of error is so incredibly thin that even the best of the best and most experienced can fail.
Agreed! (From South America).
@@MLaak86 brock conquered it
Big fan of Supercars from USA... now this is what racing is all about.
I’ve seen this all before on your channel but I’d still love this compilation. Cheers buddy, great to see it all put together in one video👊🏻😁🍻🍻
Anyone else catch the “F*** SAKE” at 3:52mins in?😅
I paused and started scrolling through the comments for this very reason lmao.
a good crash is always a thrill...
but the roar of the crowd when the driver gets out and waives is always the best.
One of the best races in the world, and the action is unbelievable most years.
This is actually a great compilation
I just got done racing this track yesterday and I couldn't help but search how many wrecks have happened on this track...
As it took extreme focus to drive fast and confident on this track!!
Love how red bull is in so many different race formats.
Not just motorsport, they're sponsoring all kinds of sports.
Those were some fantastic crashes. Thank you
Has anyone ever won this race without a single dent in their car ??? These folks are insane !! Love it !
I was a regular viewer of the series from back in the early 2000's when Craig had 'The Green Eye'd Monster' upto the end of the Falcon races. I (edit) 'also' loved the Ute series & the production car series. Thanks largely to MotorsTV. Unfortunately it's not so easy to watch any aussie motorsports anymore.
Hi from the UK from a longtime supporter of the BEST touring cars (and utes) in the world.
Thank's for your time and sharing.
Really love the series where they race classic musclecars, also the stadium trophy truck series.
Was at the 2011 race, we all practically screamed when we saw the smoke and fire, thinking the worst. As for the Tander/Whincup/McLaughlin crash, can remember seeing Tander's wife Leanne crying at the back of the pit bay.
Whincup deserved a massive penalty for that. Forcing Scotty off, then blocking Tander, absolutely grubby driving.
@@And_rew92 He should have let Tander go and let Scotty re-dress.
@@Bartman954 absolutely. But then he knew he would've been left in the dust.
@@And_rew92 👍👍
Still remember feeling numb after the redress incident. So unnecessary
Started watching with that road view as they fly past...then...that one doesnt look right. Hope he was ok.
Cool vid. One of the worlds truly great circuits. Hellish challenging to go fast, then to keep it off the walls.
No doubt about it. This is the most exciting race on earth. No question.
Can't wait till the big race
Thanks for a great video 👍👍
11:46 "The cars on fire"... "No worries" 😆
that murph and ambrose crash ... Murph you will forever be a d head for that... you shouldve owned that one.
Not a car or race guy, but I'm HOOKED on Supercars. I never knew about it until months ago! I hope it gets more fans\coverage\growth! Nascar is a snooze-fest to me but these courses\cars actually hold my interest. Great stuff!
Nascar fans when the drivers go left in a circle for 300 laps straight: 😯😯😲😬😨👍👍👍
My dad was one of the paramedics for the Chaz Mostert crash! Still remember seeing that on TV.
Man remember when the V8 Supercars were awesome.
Amazing compilation 👏🏻
2010 Kevin harvick Flip 0:10
3:10 Jeff Gordon
5:45 mark Martin hard hit
This has to be one of the most entertaining tracks to watch, you could put pedal powered box bars on this track and people would still go nuts😂, crazy how quickly the Bathurst 1000 can turn into the Bathurst demolition derby all because of one cloud of smoke
This video is not only a testimony of how much racing cars have become safer, but also how much racing videography has improved!
I remember the Besnard crash, that was the same year as the Karl Reindler/ Steve Owen crash at Barbagallow/Wannaroo
The cars just get better looking the older they get
I agree
As a new fan born in '05 I still really like the look of the modern dedicated racers and the old ones look off, but the racing looks just as incredible then as it is now
Supercars are so super exciting
Still love the Murphy/Ambrose altercation
Murphy should have decked him
Absolutely agree
I just wish we got a punch up. even if it was just a couple swings and misses.
All that pent up frustration of realising he couldn't beat a far better driver, surprised he didn't swing.
Murphy unloaded Marcus so maybe Marcus should have decked him.
@@ldnwholesale8552 for about 4 years there when murph thought he was elite, he needed a good smack.
That 3rd clip.....David must have been terrified with that fire around him
Holy moly that Mostert Pepsi Max crash was one of the hardest hits ive ever seen taken in any racing series.
They aired the slow mo before they realised you could see his leg break
3:45 - massive punch-up post race..
The sad part is that a lot of times the crashes were provoked by other drivers, making the affected car unusable but the one that provoked continues racing (with maybe a penality)
cannot believe that thumbnail isn't edited to add more fire lol
We need something like this in the states

How Damn Iconic Is The 2005 VZ Red And White HRT Car
That Pither side impact still looks nasty. Just BAM full into the driver side.
Colour me in awe holy shit the thumbnail crash wasn’t edited. There was that much fire.
Even in the video it almost looked photoshopped :o
That's some crazy stuff there
@ 13:51 he looks at the side of the car with the expectation that it will easily buff out, then realizes he may be wrong..
That fuck sakes at 3:52 You can hear the pain in it
With @2:27 what's the yellow thing being tossed into the first set of tires right before ignition of the fire? 😮
love how paul weel is at the wheel, and then the other guy is smashed up and the boss tells him to pit
actually no its paul weel. ok mate gonna have to come in this lap mate
10:30 Must have been tense. Heading straight for that barrier and not thing he could do about it.
The accident involving Fabian Coulthard is an absolute shocker.
WOW! 😨
I remember watching it live on TV and being amazed. It shows you how well designed the safety systems in the cars are. Sure, the car's a write-off, but Fabian not only survived but walked away from a multiple turnover crash at 300kph!
All from a bump on the valve stem
Last one was classic, life saved by the Larry Bar…. Protecting from Larry’s wheel
PS2's V8 Supercars game way back when (2002 or 2003 I think), had the Bundy car flip down pat if you got boxed in and thought a shortcut was in order, you were sadly mistaken. It was a game way ahead of it's time. Adelaide was another difficult track.
Did the intro clip tire just fail?
I didn't look like contact or anything else
Yes.
@@Spyker8921 thanks for letting me know m8
That was mad, the car that crashed and leaked oil all over road, the fire doesn't start under the car but where it start leaking for no apparent reason 😮.
"Press "Y" To Rewind"
scary moment in car racing right here 2:28
Bathurst is one of the best tracks in the world, and its sad seeing all the old Holden's after Holden closed down.
3:10 Watching that leg go is nasty
Spettacolare video 👍
5:27 respectable moment
Amazing

I take my hat off to these racing drivers risking there lifes but have a huge passion for car racing but fingers crossed all driver's are alright and not seriously injured or even killed these look really nasty car crashes 😮😮😮😮😮
10:10 did we ever find out what happend in that accident? did a tyre or something fail?
from where comes the fire!??? 1:44
Driven the mountain on Bathurst in a newish standard Commodore, as a reasonable driver from
age 15 years and could reasonably (sic) safely put my old XT Fairmont with 'HUGE' after market
tyres on two wheels right thru a long tight curve in the Adelaide foothills, very stable maneuver,
was totally unable to get that standard near new Commodore past 60 clicks on the mountain...
So thumbs up to the iron men (And\or women) who do it at 60+ MPH for a living...
1:43 they're still ringing the fire marshals asking questions about the fire.
12:10 - no worries :D:D
5:25 respect ❤️
Indonesia is present.. ❤❤🇮🇩🇮🇩
This years race could have been an entire video in itself.
A track where good marshalling is paramount.
Looks dangerous
Wow 🥺
Ambrose Murphy crash was 1000% the grub Murphys fault
Das sind echt große crashes😮
"Dean is at least out of the car which is good news but the car is on fire"

0:05 Ouch! That cannot have felt good being in there during that rollover.

New strategy, lap at 50 mph, let the rest of the field self destruct, win race by the fact you would be the only car left running.
