- Today, Steven and Zach take their first steps into a larger world with a journey through the history of the Star Wars CCG. In Episode I, they open a box of the first set of the game, Premiere, to experience the game as it was first released. From there, they'll continue on their journey one box at a time, opening a single box from each subsequent set.

I use to judge the game for Decipher. They would send me so many free boxes. It was easy to judge because the players knew the rules better than me at most tournaments.
This game and marvel overpower is where it all started for me. Nothing like the stories this game could build. So fun.
Sorry it took me 3 years to watch, but the series made me check you guys out!
Man, the SW CCG vids are bringing back memories. My cousin and I would simplufy the rules and play marathon games of this with insanely oversized decks (hundreds of cards each). Our longest ran something like 20 hours over a 3 day weekend or school holiday.
That's just incredible.
I remember seeing the commercial for this game when I was in 5th grade! My mom promised me the two player starter for a good report card! Best positive reinforcement ever! Still have and play 20+ years later. Thanks guys!
My brother and I collected these as kids. He took the light side and I took the dark. He eventually passed all the light side cards to me as I continued to finish the collection. I still have them all.
This is great! This touches a perfect era in Star Wars, not bogged down by years of additional lore. The universe is so lush and feels so big back then. Like a good horror movie, sometimes the less you know about something the better it is.
I also love how the games tell a story. That’s really not something you see in modern 1v1 card games.
Love this, really happy you guys are doing this! Can't wait till next Thursday!
Really love this SWCCG content, it really brings me back and anything that promotes the game and helps get others into it is awesome. Thanks for the great content!
Love your live streams, just wish you got more close up cameras rather than over the top as I can never see the text.
It's so interesting that you say this about the SW CCG expanding on the universe. My first exposure to Star Wars (I don't live in the USA) was this card game. Not the movies. And I loved Star Wars because of these cards. And when I got to see the movies many years later, they didn't impress me that much XD But I would still argue to this day that the CCG was the best way to experience Star Wars. So I'm very happy that's how I learned of it.
I love this content! That first SWCCG vid you did in early 2020 inspired me to write several articles about the game.
This is the version of the game I was introduced to tabletop gaming with. A New Hope had just been released when we got into it
Love these videos! This was my intro to CCGs and the next level of tabletop games, so it's great to see it on the table (and not just on GEMP). Some of the moments of misplay and rules were hard to watch, but also super reminiscent of trying to play and figure it out as a kid. Keep it up gentlemen!
Just dropping by to say "happy one year anniversary" to greast series of all time!
Never played this game. Looks great. Thanks for showing it off.
I’m so excited for this. Keep going!
This stream was great. Keep up the SWCCG content! I’m certainly inspired to pull out my old decks and play some games.
Keep up this series, great way to get into the game!
Keep this up! This is awesome! I wish I could open a new pack right now... hahaha
Wedge shot Darth Vader in the Cantina with Luke's Hunting Rifle.
Excellent
You guys should try WARS TCG. It was also made by Decipher and uses the same underlying system of SWCCG. However, it's set in a different universe (very rich as well) and its focus is not as narrative as SWCCG which makes things easier for new players and also increases the interaction between them. Finally, you can find cards for this game dirt cheap.
This is, like, the third time I'm watching through this series 😅I remember coming across various packs of this game when I was a kid. I didn't have anyone to play with and the TCG from Wizards was taking off, so that's where I spent most of my allowance. And yet... This game has always stuck with me for how obscure the lore of the cards were and the, at times, obnoxious attention to detail in the game. Thanks for making this series and allowing all of us to enjoy the immense amount of fun this game had to offer 🙂
Just a pleasure to have you watching! It was a joy to do this.
I still have my binder, mostly light side cards. Thanks for bringing back those memories. Maybe I should find some packs to buy again......
I spent time on ebay wondering if I should buy packs. I love these videos. Makes me a kid again.
We always played with a houserule to discard down to 7 into the Used Pile at the end of one's turn to avoid pile ons of the sort that occurs later on in this stream.
(Edit: Starts at 00:00 now. :P)
Starts at 33:43
We always edit out the intro within 24-48 hrs, but thanks for helping out the early bird crew!
Man back in 95 we use to go in the tech room at lunch and play this game. Everyone ducking the bullies anyway. I wish i knew what became of my cards. This one and magic i played magic in 94 have no idea what happened to my cards. Thanks for posting brings back my childhood.
Best ccg ever made!!
Wow, this takes me WAAAAAY back. Still saved all my cards. Maybe one day I'll rope someone into playing again.
Nostalgia overload
Thanks again for the content. You were moving Kal'Falnl C'ndros around in the speeder, but she can't move in enclosed vehicles. There's so much to remember in this game that little things like that are hard to remember.
Edit: I should have just kept watching, you caught it eventually!
You guys are great, thanks for keeping this game alive.
I wish you'd use plastic sleeves with clear backs so we can see the beautiful card art for the light and dark side tho!
This game was also my first foray into table top card games. I still have all my cards and I completed every set! (Except for the white border and the Japanese sets, although they came close.)
This was the bees knees from about about 1995-1999 for me.
Great great game. Please a reprint
Played on original release the tournament scene was super fun. I feel its a lost Gem for sure!
Just bought myself the ds2 structure decks, one light one dark. My dad used to play when it first came out and I wasn't born yet so I never had the chance to play this fantastic game. Figured I'd surprise him and we could get a few games in
Amazing idea.
Great video. Brings back a lot of memories. Can I ask where you got the sealed box from?
When the cloud city packs came out, I was in heaven
I remember playing this one or two times in late 90s with my friend in a coffee shop. Now so many years later I discover this video and it compels me to go to ebay and buy the Premier 2 player starter deck and A New Hope expansion 2 player starter set. I don't know if I should be excited and happy or annoyed at you guys:)
I got involved with this weeks after I saw empire strikes back for the first time on the sci fi channel in ‘97.. I was 10. Following my older 13 year old brother. Tournaments were held at 2 local card / collectible shops. I think I only won 3 games over 2 years but it holds a special place in my heart.
3:16:54 If I recall you can lose cards from hand, top of force pile, OR top of used force pile so if you had played or seen a card and knew it was there in your used pile you could lose it from there so that you know what you are losing. That's how we played at least.
Can we know where you bought that awesome space mat?
It's an old X-Wing mat, probably from an event series. If you search for X-Wing playmats you'll find a lot of great 3x3 starscapes.

I remember spending$120 I think on a box just hoping for a Darth Vader and I finally got him in the last pack I opened, and I DEFINITELY remember the smell of each pack in the box
Unforgettable moments.
Played it back in middle school (late 90s). I literally could not tell you the rules. Love that these guys played it for 4 hours.
Hey, I believe I have boxes & boxes of unopened premier foil packs. Now, currently at 1am , I have no idea if my boxes are ‘limited or unlimited’ …not even sure if the information I’ve just read about is even correct. Tomorrow, I will shoot a vdo at my parents house and go to my old room as a kid, which has since been changed to my mom’s sewing & computer room and firstly see if my card collection stuff is still there , I strongly believe so and how much of that stuff I actually have.
I always thought the location deck was separate? Like the LoTR CCG? You got to deploy one per turn.
Do you have a link to the first SWCCG stream you talked about in the first minutes of this video?
Let me check!
czcams.com/users/liveDmXUcWzjr9k found it!
I tried to learn how to play this game a while back and it was just baffling. The rules are insane.
Edit: I keep watching this series and I wanna try to play it again now. It still looks like straight madness but I'ma do it.
I’d buy a token set to help streamline the game... just saying.
I hope you have a spare 1300-2000 or know a good place to still buy cause dead ccg are selling for alot
@@mikemarek6243 for tokens? TC pricing for their token sets is much more affordable than that. The cards on the other hand…
I'll be honest there were several times I could have gotten this game. I got the wars ccg because of it, and...... well sadly i couldn't make heads or tails of it, and only played once. Shame that star wars games and I have such a sad history really as the lcg I have now... but only the core set, and I never could afford an expansion...
