    Once you've seen our Star Wars Customizable Card Game (CCG) review, watch the game we played that refreshed our memories. Were our midichlorian levels high enough to understand the 150 page rule book? Will Roo ever remember to force drain? Is Darth Vader really not a nice guy? The answers to these questions and more, in this "Let's Play" from the Clan of the Gray Wolf.

    My brother and I play this game almost nightly. We were seriously addicted to buying the cards back in the late 90's, but never really understood how to CORRECTLY play the game until recently. Sometimes my friend comes over to watch the game and is amazed at the amount of non-verbal ques and moves we make without even needing to speak to each other. Good stuff!

    You know, you're exactly right. I figured this out after looking through the giga-rule book not long after playing through this game.
    Just goes to show that after 14 years, we still can't get all the rules right.

    It's a shame that Decipher was never able to continue their Star Wars and Star Trek CCG's as both were really good.

    FYI: (pocket sized rule book p.25) note: attrition loss incurred by the loser of a battle is NOT in addition to 'battle damage', but it can affect the way he absorbs the battle damage by FORCING forfeiture of cards.) So the guy on the right would only lose 4 force after he satisfied the attrition with his only character present at the first battle. Not the 8 that the guy on the left required.

  • @WarmasterSidious
    @WarmasterSidious Před 13 lety +6

    You satisfied the attrition incorrectly. When you forfeit a character for attrition it simultaneously satisfies weapon hits and battle damage. So if you have a forfeit of 4 and attrition 3 + power 7 you only have to lose 6 force once that character has been forfeited.

  • @Kicker1981
    @Kicker1981 Před 11 lety +3

    Think of attrition as what you "owe" in forfeit value. For example, if your opponent draws a battle destiny of 4, you must forfeit cards with a total forfeit value of 4. If you have two cards in that battle, and one is forfeit 3 and the other is forfeit 5, you must lose the card with the forfeit 5. That 5 satisfies the attrition and can be used to alleviate any battle damage from losing the power aspect of the battle. Hit cards only have a forfeit of 0 if the weapon that hit specifies so.

  • @theumph
    @theumph Před 14 lety +1

    You guys are forfeiting incorrectly. The characters forfeit value also counts towards battle damage regardless of attrition. Example: The Garindan battle. LS power 6 with attrition of 3 to DS power 1 is 5 battle damage with 3 that must be lost from the site due to attrition. But if the character being lost from the site has a forfeit of 3, you only need to lose 2 more cards to satisfy the battle damage. Not 5.

    Aagghh!!! I lived in Harnett county from 2006 to 2009! Why haven't I found fans of SWCCG and NES/SNES until I moved 1500 miles away! I would have loved to bring out my cards that were collecting dust in my closet during those years. The most I was doing with my time was searching for games at the Play N Trade stores in Gardner and Cary. Nerds needed better communication during those years.

  • @tzgardner
    @tzgardner Před 11 lety +1

    The cards are interchangeable between all the sets. The rules are that you must make a 60 card deck though. You could take all the best cards from both the sets and put together a decent 60 card deck for both the lightside and darkside.

    @theumph Před 14 lety

    I don't think they're that arcane. I still find it to be the finest CCG ever made. Part of what made it so great is that your deck is what you used to deploy stuff (cyling through) and it also represented your life. There was a delicate balance. You could have hand of 25 cards which gave you tons of options, but then you wouldn't have the force left to actually deploy them. Also, the cyling gives the advanced players the opporitunity to track destinies for maximum damage in battles.

    Always wanted to get into this. Would be so cool if there was a video game version of this to at least play against the computer with with different levels of difficulty but, with cool Star Wars images and sounds. If they made a portable 3DS/PSP/VITA version where you could link with other players, that would be awesome as well! STAR WARS RULES...

    @WJValente 8 cards, you can mix and match from all the sets that are part of the decipher CCG. You also can have as many cards in your deck as you want as long as your opponent agrees to that amount and also has that amount in his deck (140 deck against 140 deck... this is extreme but you could do it if you wanted).

    This was the best card game ever made... cause no 2 games were alike, the game took ALOT of skill knowing when to deploy what/where and when to attack... I played magic since 96' and star wars too.. star wars was alot funner and not as much luck as magic... star wars was so great cause it was a full circle of a game in that you can change your luck... instead of deploying you can chance it to draw all the cards you want etc and your life is your deck etc... such a great game.

Now, currently at 1am , I have no idea if my boxes are ‘limited or unlimited’ …not even sure if the information I’ve just read about is even correct. Tomorrow, I will shoot a vdo at my parents house and go to my old room as a kid, which has since been changed to my mom’s sewing & computer room and firstly see if my card collection stuff is still there , I strongly believe so and how much of that stuff I actually have.

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf
    @ClanOfTheGrayWolf  Před 14 lety

    We're certainly not saying it's a bad game - far from it. We wouldn't have played it through multiple expansions and brought it back years later if it wasn't fun to play.
    But you have to admit that compared to other CCGs of the time (especially magic), the rules were burdensome and only added bloat with the errata that accompanied each expansion. We still think that's a big reason why interest started dying off before Decipher lost the rights to make the game.
