    Super thrilled to have found someone selling their 1400 card Star Wars CCG collection on eBay for £50 ($68). Cards are in good condition and from across the sets too 😁

    Hoth is a great set. I remember buying packs of Hoth around the time Dagobah came out for a buck a piece at Toys R Us and praying for Commander Luke. RIP SW:CCG and Toys R Us.

    What's great about these throwbacks is by the time we get to Episode IX it will still be just as satisfying as the beginning of the series...

    Love the flavor! Gunslinging at the Cantina, Failed attempts by an oppressive regime to control the outer reaches of their empire. All with a small cameo by Han Solo, passing through.
    Hit the nail on the head, an era when the SW universe felt expansive. By constraining material from just what was contained in the original films and production photos, the larger the world became in the minds eye. The more they focus on specific characters and stories in later SW material the smaller it got and some of that charm wore off. Love this series! I hope you come back to this game and play out some whacky scenarios with the full sets one day. Delightful!

    I loved every minute of this, from the ridiculous game to the epic unboxing. Highlight of my week, and I await the rest of this series on tenterhooks.
    Also, can't wait for the musician decks to face-off.

    Awesome! I’m sure someone already mentioned it but in that last battle Prophetess is immune to attrition less than 3, but the attrition was 3, so she wasn’t immune to it

    So good! Love seeing the pieces come together. Red5, R2, if only Steven had farm boy Luke for the attack run... It’s great to see the main characters and their personal items and weapons. Off the charts flavor.

    it's such a trip that you guys are doing this. this is the game that got me hooked on card gaming.
    the Light Repeating Blaster Rifle can actually target anything (well, any character), it just needs a fusion generator or droid present to 'power it'; that is, you can't shoot it at all unless you have one of those things present, but you can shoot with it like most other guns
    you are right though. assault rifle is super great.
    also, sites are supposed to be played horizontally between players lol. system locations are vertical. basically the card's game text for each side is supposed to be facing the player. it also makes it a little easier just looking at them to see who played it
    and lastly, good job steven!

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, we just can't get those locations to fit on screen when they're horizontal!

    Retract the bridge ( card at 2:42:18) actually says veritgo, vertically in the lights second from the right.
    Awesome to see the game being played again!!

    I have an explicit memory from 90s when I played this game with a friend about the same issue as in this game: if one player gets rolling it is almost no way to stop it.

    Surprise assault, and counter assault are amazing cards. Not only do you stop a force drain, you also end up making your opponent lose a decent amount of force. Other favorites are gravel storm, and friendly fire.

    I’m not sure if it would have effected either of your games or not, but something interesting I just read in the rules:
    The free move to or from Mos Eisley in the control phase counts as that characters 1 move for the turn.

    Power droids and fusion generators are the enabling conditions for using the Light Repeating Blaster Rifle, not the targets. Think of them as the fuel source for using that weapon.

      Rarity distribution and size of set helps here. This is a 162 card set split evenly so 81 cards per side and 27 of each “each rarity”per side before factoring split rarity. You would see on the checklist that there are 2 levels of rares and uncommons plus 3 levels of common which had to do with the number of copies per sheet when the cards got printed. The rare 2s are more common than rare 1s and there are also fewer rare 2s on each side - 30 rare 1s versus 24 Rare 2s I believe. Chewbacca, R2-D2, most of the attack run relevant rares and commence primary ignition related rares are all in that rare 2 group so you are more likely to see those.
      For how this series is playing out they got a lot of fun stuff that will fit nicely with what they got in their premiere box.

    I'm a bit confused about Collateral Damage - you used it around 1:06:00 when a Force Drain was initiated at Tatooine but the card says that it's used at the beginning of a battle, not when a Force Drain is initiated (and only when there's a weapon and there wasn't a weapon deployed on either X-Wing). Collateral Damage also says that one character is lost from that location (not that the Destiny that's drawn goes directly to your opponent's Lost Pile). I know some of the unlimited cards were printed later with errata or was this just an error?
    Thanks for these videos btw! Awesome to see the game played thorough as it was when it was originally released!

      He'd maded a quite big mistake in there, I was looking for anyone else who pointed that out. For sure he was thinking of some other card.
      See it again, he's changing it to Couter Assault a few moments later.

      What's really messed up is the last card that was drawn was the very same Counter Assault that he played. A little sleight of hand. :D :D :D

    At 1:06:00, Collateral Damage says: two characters and weapon at the beginning of a battle. Where is that weapon and battle here? This was totally unplayable.

  • @present077

    Anyone else catch Zach blatantly cheat with the Counter Assault play? At 45:17 he draws the Counter Assault as his last card from the force pile. He moves this card to the middle of his hand. Then at 45:50 he pulls a fake takesies-backsies, putting back a different card onto his force pile from the Counter Assault he just drew (I checked his hand beforehand and I didn't see a second one there). He then plays the Counter Assault he shouldn't have in his hand at 47:35 with the one force. :-|

  • @mattcat83
    @mattcat83 Před 2 lety +1

    Drawing a huge hand and building up force just to swarm is a bit too cheap of a tactic and bypasses the movement component of the game. It's akin to warping an army directly into an enemy's base in a RTS like StarCraft; it's way too OP. Instead, have a houserule to discard one's hand down to 7 cards at the end of one's turn and limit draw to at most 3. Additionally, limit deployment only to one's own site or planet cards, which will open up a risk/reward choice to control one's own sites for less drain or one's opponent for more drain. Likewise, battles become less of a surprise and more of a choice, with single characters having the ability to run away. Cornering characters at the end of a planet's sites would also become a better tactic.

    Look at how many rules they hit us with back in the day, and now publishers and card game designers are struggling to define "you" or other simple terms.... what happened?
