    The Guardian keyword completely throws me off, I just don't get it. I used the Praetorian Guard which has its own definition of Guardian on its card while the rulebook appears to say something completely different.
    "When this card is activated, you may cancel one dice from the opponent's pool showing damage (either melee damage, indirect damage or range damage). Then deal its damage to the character."
    What am I doing with my opponent's die? Why am I still taking damage? Does the guarded character take the damage or my Praetorian Guard (who doesn't even have health)? How is this useful?

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 5 lety +1

      Great question Eli, "Guardian" is one of those things that we get asked about all the time.
      In the normal flow of a game of Destiny your opponent wants to defeat your team members one at a time. Characters with Guardian disrupt that!
      Say you have Obi-wan out with three health remaining and a Jedi Temple Guard out at full health. Your opponent rolls out Darth Vader and gets a 2 melee and a 3 melee. Your Temple Guard can activate to take the 3 damage and remove the dice, in order to protect Obi. Now Darth Vader has to work harder to get Obi-won down.

    Clarification please at 27:00 he states inner strength moves 1 damage with no Shields. However you note that ability would stack below shields. Were you speaking in general about the movability? Or was there something I missed?

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 4 lety

      From the rules: When damage is moved to a new character, it ignores shields and the character is not considered to have taken damage.

  • @rockxhero
    @rockxhero Před 6 lety +1

    If the "Do or Do Not Card" (@27:49) was played w/ a "Special" die roll result, what would be the outcome? Would they just do the special as normal? (I doubt they would get to do it twice or add damage to it- but maybe they could the later.)

    • @rockxhero
      @rockxhero Před 6 lety

      I'm thinking no since "Specials have a value of 0 that cannot be increased or decreased." according to the 1.5 Rules.

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety +2

      That is correct Jake, the rules separate "values" and "symbols". Only sides with values can be increased.

  • @evanmoore8030
    @evanmoore8030 Před 6 lety

    Great video! Question: now that we have the new game mechanic of indirect damage, how are we supposed to interpret older cards that refer to damage as only melee and range (w/ symbols). For example, cards that allow you to "resolve a die showing damage (range/melee) and increase its value by 1" or something similar. Should we take that at face value and only use it with range and melee, or should we include indirect damage in that category even though it doesn't show the symbol? Thanks for your help!

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety

      All of those work with Indirect Damage! Unless it specifically says RANGED damage or MELEE damage, Indirect is a legal target.

    Hi, thanks for the video. Very helpful. Question: At the 11:55 mark, you play a blue Jedi Rival onto Phasma. I thought you couldn't play a blue card on a red character. Am I wrong? Still learning the game. Thanks again.

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety +1

      Great question Jeff, As long as you have a blue villain in your deck, you can bring Jedi Rival along and play it anywhere. Some cards will specify "Blue Characters Only" or "Spot a yellow character to..." and those are color specific. We hope this helps, let us know if you have any more questions!

  • @rockxhero
    @rockxhero Před 6 lety

    Do support cards that don't state "Exhaust" or "Discard" (the Med Droid for ex.) get exhausted when used? If not, does that mean a player could continue to activate & then later resolve that support's card on different future turns (in the same round)?

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety +1

      They do exhaust on use. Any time your roll a character or support's dice out, the card it belongs to exhausts. It is under the activation rules.

  • @Svabby
    @Svabby Před 5 lety

    Can you only use a character dice roll/ action per round? So once you have used both your character dices you pass the round making it an upkeep phase?

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 5 lety

      There are many actions, including discarding a card to re-roll any number of your dice.

  • @rockxhero
    @rockxhero Před 6 lety

    If I have two 2 melee damage dice, can I resolve them at the same time to the same character doing 4 damage at once, or would it have to be resolving 2 sepearate 2 damage attacks in succession?
    I realize if I had a 2 melee damage & a +2 melee damage they would resolve for 4 damage at the same time.

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety +1

      You can resolve the dice at the same time, but it is still doing 2 damage and then another 2 damage.

  • @derezzFTW
    @derezzFTW Před 6 lety

    If character has multiple cards with the special ability, i.e. like poe had in this demo, and you resolve a special symbol do you get the benefits from each card?

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety +1

      It is die specific. So if Poe's character die rolls a special you can resolve it to use Poe's special. Same for Poe Dameron's Blaster. You can not switch them. Each die only represents the card it comes with, nothing else.

    • @hybridart6763
      @hybridart6763 Před 6 lety

      The fact that they use dice is about the only similarity. And while Ashes is a fine game, Destiny is superior in just about every way!

      Team Covenant Thanks for the quick reply. Can you tell me or point me in the right direction where elite characters are explained? I understand they get 2 dice instead of 1, but I don't understand why you wouldn't have used them in the video. I'm guessing I am missing something when it comes to criteria for when you can use an elite. Thank you!

    • @timreece4278
      @timreece4278 Před 6 lety

      Thank you! So as I understand it, you will need to get 2 copies of a character card in order use them as elite? I was under the incorrect impression that the starter set had 2 dice each for that characters. Now I see why people often get 2 of the core sets.

    • @jonathanlewis82
      @jonathanlewis82 Před 6 lety

      They do have a somewhat... sketchy policy when it comes to starter sets, yes. But at the same time, I think perhaps it is easier to learn a bit more of the variety in the cards if the decks only have 1 of each in them. I dunno, though. I pretty much just bought 2 of the 2player sets and a couple booster packs to get the rush of opening some stuff, like magic used to give me, so I am brand new to the game yet. These videos are very helpful, though, moreso than the official tutorial from FFG.

  • @bigmclargehuge8237

    Im kinda confused about the battlefield claiming. At around 18:30, he claims the battlefield and then he says he can take like 20 actions and he cant do anything. I dont know what he means? If you claim the battlefield, do you lose a turn or something?

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 6 lety

      That is a great question, when you claim, it is the last thing you can do that round!
      So you get the claim ability (some of which are huge!), and the guarantee of going first next round (initiative can be important for some decks), but your opponent gets to take a few extra actions. Good players are constantly guessing how many more turns they and their opponent have left, and claiming turns into a type of tug of war.
