      @@barefootrunreview Don't worry about quality. Hell, I don't even think my vids are particularly high in quality. I think you have a few interesting takes on the shoes your reviewing and I think you're doing great

    Great review .good tip with insole was doing doing that with some of the speedgoats I've had really opens up the fit

      Yeah! I have to do it with a lot of my shoes too. It's the one way we can customise the fit!

    I tried these on today at REI. They feel better than my Olympus 5 Low Hike GTX. The toe box is higher, the cushion is perfect, the uppers are flexible and well ventilated. I mainly use Topo Athletics, but also have a few Altras. I'm thinking of adding a pair of these to my life.
    Thanx for the video my Brother 👍

    Shallow forefoot volume has always been a bugbear of mine with Altras, it forced me to wide fit HOKAs -Arahi & Bondi. They've fixed the volume with the later Olympus versions. Great review.

      Agreed. The only one I've found to be deep is the Lone Peak. Ironically that's too deep for me and ends up in a sloppy fit. :)

    Thanks so much for the great review!! Yes, swapping around insoles is a solution I discovered pretty quickly when I started running, works for quite a range of problems with different shoes!!! I also often like different socks with different shoes too!! My mouth dropped open at your wife's experience with the durability though... is she one of those runners who tends to chew through shoes at all??

    Hey man,
    Great review! I also like minimalist shoes. I've got over two thousand miles on my vivo primus lites. I just picked up the timp after I saw your review and because I've used almost every timp model ever made. Can I just ask what insoles you put into the shoes? I would love to do the same. I've always looked for thinner insoles but never purchased them. Thanks!

    • @barefootrunreview
      @barefootrunreview  Před 3 měsíci

      Sure thing! I used some old Inov8 insoles I had hanging around. You could also try the Vivo insoles you have already. But if you're looking to buy some, I know Xero Shoes sell their insoles which around around 2-3mm thick. xeroshoes.com/shop/extras/replacement-insoles/

    The volume is so small especially on the midfoot. I have swapped the insole and it is still extremely tight.

      Fair comment. We're all individual. What shoes do you find fits the volume of your foot best?

  • @Alexander_Offshore
    @Alexander_Offshore Před 2 měsíci

    Man, I ordered a pair, tried them on and loved the feel! BUT they did rub against my ankle, due to my pronation I guess. Had to return them, what a bummer. Do not have this issue with my Superior 5, Escalante 2,5 or the Lone Peak 8.

    • @barefootrunreview
      @barefootrunreview  Před 2 měsíci

    • @Alexander_Offshore
      @Alexander_Offshore Před 2 měsíci

      Well I’ll stick with the Lone Peak 8’s great shoes. Have a pair of Altra Vanish Tempo on order, for longer road-days. But the Eascalante 2,5 are awesome as well

  • @lmbraga
    @lmbraga Před 6 dny

    What Altra have been doing with toe box size is strange. The Lone Peak and the Olympus are super spacious to the point my foot can slip around in there. The recent models of the Superior are so shallow what my toes catch on the upper. The Timp was the only one with a sensible toe box volume, if they're changing that one too I can't understand what's Altra's audience anymore.
    Super-spacious shoes for hikers and super shallow shoes for short-distance runners.... where are the Ultra runners gonna go? Topo Athletic?
    Too bad, because I always wished for a Vibram Timp.

    • @barefootrunreview
      @barefootrunreview  Před 6 dny

      I tend to agree, but like you say, there are still options in the Altra lineup. I personally make most of these options work, but still my favourite is the Superior, even though it's shallow. A quick switch of the insoles makes it comfortable for me. Have you tried anything like this?
      Otherwise, I avoid Topo because of the pronounced arch support. I don't think it belongs in shoes of this kind.

  • @jakubdobrosielski5709

    You can run with these without insoles

    • @barefootrunreview
      @barefootrunreview  Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah you could, but the footbed is kinda rubberized/tacky, so it may rub over time. What do you think? Have you ran with out insoles over longer periods of time?
