Altra Lone Peak 8 - Decent shoe, but it's not for me

- Ever wondered why the Altra Lone Peak series keeps topping the charts? The Lone Peak 8 sticks to what works, keeping the relaxed fit and smooth ride we all love from the Lone Peak 7, but with just a few tweaks for the better. It's your go-to for those long-distance adventures, ensuring comfort every step of the way. But that's not to say it's without its flaws. I personally will not continue running in the shoe because it's not for everyone!

Just finished walking the Camino Norte and Primativo wearing Lone Peak 8s . Perfect for that job 850km no blister issues whatso ever. Comfortable and light. Using Merino socks.
Awesome! Glad they worked for you!
Please do an Altra Superior video (and maby the Escalante racer!)
You have a new subscriber from Sweden
Sure thing! I love the superior, but just haven't got round to doing the video review yet. You can check out barefootrunreview.com for a written review though. :)
👍
Is the Timp 5 wider in the midfoot?
The standard width Lone Peak is similar to the midfoot of the Timp 5, but it differs in many other areas. It's deeper, wider in the toe box and heel, and more relaxed in general.
I think relaxed is the best way to describe the Lone Peak.
@@nicknamewinder how much do they differ in depth?
Quite a lot. For example, In the Timp 5's I had to replace the insole to a thinner option because it was so shallow. Whereas, the Lone Peak was so deep I never got a good lock down.
Try Topo. Much more durable and great fit for wide feet with an arch
Arh yeah. I've tried Topo many times, but I can never get over the arch support. I don't think it's a great idea from a foot health perspective, and it feels uncomfortable to me. Because of that, I decided not to review them any more.
Topo really limits foot movement the arch support gets really uncomfortable as soon as you yourself develop a strong arch imo.
@@aurorasurrealis1032 I second that!
@@barefootrunreview Same here, really want to love them. They have awesome build quality but cant get over the arch support. Tried a couple of them now
@@cedric_v sadly it doesn't look like it's changing any time soon either. 😕
