Bob Builder lmao you’re funny madden fanboy. First off, even if he didn’t get injured he would’ve stuck to baseball and not play much football. So he would not have the stats to prove he’s the greatest. In addition he had a good team including Marcus Allen which further reduced his playing time. He would be nowhere near Walter or even Barry. And I hope you’re joking

I saw in one clip he jumped over the oline into the endzone for a TD but he landed on his neck 😥. Greatest runner back of all time. His toughness is unmatched this guy took some of the nastiest hits I've ever seen. I would have been on life support from one of those hits damn😲. R.I.P Walter "Sweetness" Payton.

The greatest football player of all time. He could run around you, run through you, run over you... He could catch, pass, kick (FG's), punt, block, and was a genuine leader and an inspiration to people on his team, in the stands, on the street, and in his home. The man was larger than life. God bless Walter Payton and our Chicago Bears!

    • @timshea4279
      @timshea4279 Před 4 lety +4

*The greatest football player of all time*
      This!
This I can definitely get on board for. Greatest running back? I think that goes to Barry Sanders. (And I say that as someone who's favorite *athlete* ever is Payton and is a Bears fan to this day because of him). But with all due respect to Xavier about LT, I think Walter contributed so many others things to the game other than running back: blocking, receiving, blocking, blocking! And filling in as QB when necessary. I don't know of he ever did, but I have no doubt he could play linebacker if a spot was needed!
And as for running, he made you pay for every tackle. No running out of bounds. Sometimes even giving up the open field so he could hit someone! You knew you were going to be in a game when you played against Walter Payton.
His off field conditioning was second to none, all in preparation for Sunday (or Monday. Or Thursday. Or Saturday. NFL programming has changed!) Check out 2:47. The way he effortlessly runs up that hill doesn't convey how incredibly hard that is and how unbelievably strong his legs are. That was for the game!
And as an ambassador for the NFL....well.....there's a reason there's now an award handed out in his name.
Yeah, teams had to change their game plans because of Lawrence Taylor. I get that. But for me, Payton is the Greatest Football Player Of All Time.

He ran, he tackled, he blocked, he protected his quarterback, he passed, he caught and he looked good doing it all. But the thing I remember most was; anytime a player tackled Sweetness alone, that player got hurt. He was a man's man. Tough as nails. Hard hitting as a freight train.

I'm watching this with tears in my eyes. I was a young man when Walter Payton played his 13 years in the NFL. There was never anybody like him before or since. He never, ever gave up on a play until he was down on the turf - and sometimes even when you thought he was down he'd suddenly pop up, shake off would-be tacklers and get more yards than you ever expected. In my humble opinion he exemplifies the best of athletic endeavor and is a special example to us all, in sports or no.

I met Walter in Cleveland when he brought his racing team to town. I had a pass to visit the area where the teams stayed in their huge motor homes. 7:30 AM on Saturday morning i went directly to Walters mobile home and asked for him but he was eating breakfast. So I continued walking. I walked 50-75 away when one of Walters men came and got me and said Walter wanted me to come back, i was excited and shocked. Walter came out of the mobile home, chewing his food, shook my hand, took a picture with me, and talked football for 10-15 minutes. He was a class act, a humble man. RIP Walter.

R.I.P. Walter Payton, I am a junior star (In my divisions locally) football player, and Walter Payton is also may favorite football player of all time, I want to avenge Walter against anyone who disliked him, and I hope I get to the NFL, most because of him.

Every once in a while in a lifetime, a truly great and magnificent experience will come along. Being privileged to witness it and remember what you've seen, word of mouth and mere stories don't do it justice. That man was a shooting star, gone but will never be forgotten. PERIOD!

So happy I got to watch this man compete. He was a true warrior. I loved that he never scooter out of bounds to avoid a hit. He delivered hits.
I have never seen a better all around running back.
His passing, receiving and blocking skills all get overlooked. But Hell when u can run like he could I see why.
    Rest In Peace Champ!

If I was a GM and could start a franchise with any player in NFL history, I'd take Walter Payton #1. Greatest all around player to ever play.

No player to ever wear the uniform in NFL history, had the combination of heart, strength, moves, longevity and skills that Walter brought to the field every Sunday! At only 5'10 205lbs, he ran with the power of an Earl Campbell, the moves of a Barry Sanders, the blocking of a great fullback, and receiving skills of a Marshall Faulk, all in one individual! Held the ball like a loaf of bread, would studder step in the open field and NEVER RAN OUT OF BOUNDS (like Franco Harris)Plus, never missed games! I had the privilege to watch this once in a lifetime player every single Sunday during his career, and can tell you there will never be another like him! Man, was I lucky to witness his incredible achievements, sadly missed, R I P

They mentioned the "two biggest icons of Chicago," thought of an idea: a series based on city. Chicago would be a great place to start, so much sports history there. New York, the Bay Area, etc.. Could be fun.
I'd be waiting for Phoenix, sadly not much there, but the Suns of the early '90s, early 2000s D-Backs, and the '09 Cardinals playoff run would be a cool cutup.
