He also had the ability to out work anyone. He worked extremely extremely hard his whole career. Took basketball very very seriously, and was always trying to get himself and his team to improve.

And being a die-hard Lakers fan with Magic Johnson I actually almost started crying because I knew like everybody else knew ...the Laker dominance was over and our most hated team ( Boston ) with Larry Bird was about to crush EVERYBODY for many years to come.

I played AAU basketball for Cecil Kirk just one season but I played other competition basketball to I was 17 years old and I was charged with a shooting and I lost out on a four-year scholarship to play baseball at Ohio State. I was class of 98 at Mergenthaler vo-tech high school., my names in a paper for playing baseball. If I would’ve never got arrested, I’ll probably come and hang on something different in my body probably would’ve been athletically born and still living in every day instead of me being a construction worker.!!! but the best thing of everything and out of everything I never forgot where I came from even if I was 1/8 of black and the rest of them is nothing but Irish in Blackfoot Indian I come from a very colorful family. My son is also of a dark skin and he can get a foot over the rim but he’s only five 10 1/2, I hope he grows this year. He’s going to a camp down in Carolina nothing like Michael Jordan Lenny bias. I was a Duke student from 1982-1986. Len Bias was, and remains, the best college player I've ever seen. With all due respect to Len's teammates, he CARRIED the Maryland program at a time when the rest of the ACC (Duke, UNC, Virginia, NC State, Georgia Tech, etc.) was stacked. Further, had he not died tragically, the Celtics surely would've had another two or three championships. If you never saw Len play in person then it's hard to understand just how much of a talent he was.

Coaches were real coaches back then. If you were showing that you were not striving to be fundamentally grounded, no matter how much of a freak athlete you were, you couldn't get on the court with the starters. These young guys today think it's all about athleticism. Check out Luka Doncic. Dominating with pure fundamentals.

As a diehard Celtics fan, I was, as all Celtics fans at that time, on a natural high after the Celts won the 86 title knowing we had the #2 pick in the draft and we’re gonna get Len Bias, the Celtics future of winning 3 maybe 4 in a row over the Lakers was the most beautiful time of my Celtic life so to speak. Then the news we all couldn’t believe, Bias was gone at 22 yrs of age! So heartbreaking for his family and friends and then the hopes of another Celtic dynasty surpassing the Lakers was also DEAD!!! Even tho we got to finals in 87’ the Lakers were the better team and if they had had Bias Celts would of swept, just the most agonizing and awful tragedy in the world of sports!! Bias had so much potential, he would of been right there with the GOAT!! RIP LB

It's hard for people who weren't alive then to understand how much Len Bias' death shocked and changed the sports world. College basketball was more popular than the NBA back then and Bias was a star. In the aftermath, every college and every pro sports league started aggressive drug testing. It also helped those wanting harsher prison penalties for drug dealers to get legislation passed.

Everytime I watch a video regarding Len Bias, I get emotional. I lived about 10 mins from him, he was about 4 years older than me and I can remember like it was yesterday when the news broke about him passing. It was like a weird fog of silence, sadness and disbelief over just about all the ballers in the area. It took a while for that "fog" to lift. It's hard for folks who weren't born or very young to appreciate just how good and fun to watch Bias was. I'm going to say, at that time, he was just as good as Jordan and may have been better had he lived. But I'm sure I have a great deal of bias, no pun intended. RIP/RIJ (rest in Jesus).

As a Maryland student I was at Cole for almost all of Lenny's home games. What an amazing player and person, just a nice guy to everybody. Check out the height Lenny gets at the 11:30 mark. Thank you for making this video, it brings back a lot of great mermories, and one terrible one.
I went to Maryland for two years, the last two coinciding with Lenny's last two.
How fortunate we were to see such greatness on campus and with the loaded ACC competition in Cole Field House.
It's very difficult for me to talk about him without being overcome with emotion, and I'm a very stoic person 99.7% of the time. I got choked up watching this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this.

The day Lenny died I cried walking to the park to play. 16 years old and all I lived for was ball. Got to the park and half the people there didn't even know who he was. 50 years old and I know I'll never forget it. R.I.P. Lenny and peace to all his family....what a loss I'll never forget.

Kinda unnecessary (and cheap), was even mentioned in the slide with the comparison to Drexler that MJ took offense, practically hinting that he used the same Last Dance bit even if you hadn't noticed it before. I hate that Bias died so very young. What a talent lost. I remember when he passed. It was like the whole world knew it had been robbed.

He influences kids that look up to him to stay in school and Mike let's folk's know that God made human beings to do great things. Mike is a National Treasure. MJ is one of my favorite players all time. But I have always wondered how his greatness would be perceived differently if he had not had his two closest rivals die so young. RIP Len Bias and Drazen Petrovich.
Well maybe a little at first. I mean even in college MJ was great, but he improved a lot by the time he was on the bulls. No one had any idea college MJ would be anywhere near as good as he turned out to be. When he was a freshman and sophmore there were many college players better than him for sure. By the time he was in the NBA and had come into his own and shown what he could no could ignore it. I don't care who was in the NBA, if Jordan was playing like he was, everyone would take notice as the did. Very very sad what happened to BIAS. There is a chance he could have been a top ten player in the NBA in his prime, maybe even better considering his talent.

Thanks for making such a great video that showcases the greatness of both Lenny and MJ. I played against Lenny on a playground at Central High School in DC in '78. 3 on 3. And it was intense. We were the same age, end of 8th grade. Lenny was the first guy to ever dunk on me - shoelaces went by my face. Great player but even better person. His competitive fire was off the charts, too.
It would've been refreshing to have had two insanely talented ballers who were also great guys.

I attended the five-star Camp back in 1977. That's where I met Rick Pitino. Rick Pitino is the best coach in the universe you taught me so much at the camp. I wish I played when we had a 3-point line. Who knows what I would have done I could have been a Steph Curry LOL

As a die hard Celtic fan from the 70s, 80s, and 90s that Len Bias still hurts us to this day.
Don't forget Reggie Lewis. That combo would have been very good. There is a game on here somewhere where Lewis blocks something like 3-4 of Jordan's shots.

Tim A. Guys don't get to make that jump now in college basketball. They come in expecting to start and then the next season move on to the NBA. Star freshman back then weren't even thinking about starting. They were hoping to get some playing time.

Michael Jordan’s athletic prowess was always upfront and wonderful, amazing to see. The talented, competitive, virtual superhero of a player who seemed to defy the laws of physics.
But he had another side that many people never got to see. His kindness towards young kids, especially the disabled fans who came to see him play. After having 5 girls my Uncle and Aunt Ron and Jane Axium decided that they were called to adopt or foster 4 disabled kids. The first was my cousin Christopher. When Chris was adopted doctors told my aunt and uncle that Chris would never walk, might never talk clearly and would almost certainly die before 25. That was in the early 80’s. My aunt and uncle brought in half the neighborhood to pattern Chris, move his arm and leg muscles in ways that would increase nerve connections, help speech and coordination and hopefully extend his life. It worked. They did everything they could to mainstream and give Chris great experiences.
One of those was taking Chris to Bulls games. By then MJ was a superstar and an amazing phenomenon to watch. Beauty in motion, top of the world. But somehow, he noticed the families with disabled perks and got to know them. Chris was 4’8? Jordon towered over him. But he especially liked these kids who showed such raw adoration for him. He got them great seats, near the team, so he could see their reactions, gave them signed posters and basketballs and on one special day gave Chris a full Chicago Bulls Uniform complete with shoes, socks, trunks, shirt (#24) and a personally signed basketball.
For as long as I can remember whenever I walked over to their house, Chris was outside in uniform dribbling that ball. As time went on his coordination got better and better and he eventually took drum lessons at a music shop around the corner which would have stunned those early doctors. Of course, Chris is a wonderful human being who I admire for his joy and love of family.
Here’s the thing though. In all those years in Chicago, I never saw a press release or story about Jordan’s acts of kindness to Chris and young fans like him. He had an impact on Chris’s life and transferred some small part of his drive to Chris.
Enough so that one chilly fall Chicago night while Chris was sleeping on the back porch, “camping out” which he liked to do. He woke up when a disturbed kid who tried to set a number of churches on fire also, set their back porch on fire possibly because the kid was cold.
Chris heard the back doorbell ring because the flames of the back porch working their way inwards and shorted the wires ringing the bell. This woke Chris, who rather than just running out the front door in panic, woke up his parents then his sisters and brothers upstairs. They all got out of the house literally seconds before a flash back from the open back door engulfed the interior of the house with flames.
The kid with Downs Syndrome had saved 11 people’s lives that night. How much of that was enabled by Jordan’s kindness? I don’t know. Much of the credit goes to his immediate family and the many dozens in the neighborhood who volunteered helping to pattern The 4 adopted and fostered kids. But he certainly didn’t hurt.

I doubt it, so many great players looked weak compared to MJ, so I don't see a difference with Bias.
Bias looks like a Dominic Wilkins/Shawn Kemp type player which Jordan reign over.
Would have been great to watch. MJ was quenched in his first rounds of playoffs by the Celtics. Bias would have been the leash holder or reduced. Guess we'll find out in the Metaverse.
