The school had no idea that the kid's dad had purchased a frigging gun for the idiot. I'm sure if they had known that they would have searched his backpack. They met with the parents and the parents should have searched his backpack right then and there. You can blame all kinds of people, but the FACT IS, IS THAT THE FATHER PURCHASED A GUN FOR THE MENTALLY ILL KID!!! WHAT PISS POOR PARENTING. MOM WAS BUSY FOOLING AROUND AND PLAYING WITH HER HORSES. PARENTS ARE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE HORRIBLE THINGS THEIR SON DID TO ALL THOSE STUDENTS.

I agree, none of this would’ve happened if the parents had NOT bought him a gun or at the least kept it locked away from him! I just don’t think the school district gets a pass either. They should have rules that when they find evidence like his drawings on the math paper, he MUST be removed from the school that moment until he’s approved by psychologists to return! There were A-LOT of failures that day!

Sorry to inform you that that fact is irrelevant in the face of the drawings he was caught with in the classroom. The day before the shootings, Ethan was caught researching ammo for his gun on his phone. At that time, he revealed that shooting was a family pastime. The administrators should have assumed that he had access to a gun or at least asked pursued the possibility. The administrators were lazy and negligent. They should be held accountable for their part in enabling this tragic event.

Gun culture. He testified that he is aware that it is not uncommon for students to handle firearms. Hunting and shooting ranges are entertainment, especially in towns like Oxford. Plus, when he spoke to Ethan, he felt he was being honest and open about his interest in game design. It's also not unusual for teenagers to draw edgy drawings so it probably passed the sniff test and his parents agreed to get him immediate help. The parents didn't mention firearms nevermind unsecured ones so there was no reason to believe he had a gun. As the dean explained, mental health takes precedence over minor infractions because they want kids to feel safe to express themselves.😊

Oh, c'mon - who was responsible for the gun to be properly secured, so that a 15 yo couldn't reach it (and use it - remember, the lock has never been used at all*), if not supervised by an adult?
    * so JC was fully aware, that all the family (that means EC included) had access to the gun, as he never ever put it on
No wonder the witness wasn't suspicious, when even defence attorney knows, how normalized usage of weapons amongs students is around that neighbourhood... And I bet EC wasn't very open about his troubles, I mean, his backpack was heavy, really? So is his schoolmate's.
Stop with an excuse that he should be concerned, when his own parentss refused to take EC out of school that day. Who knows the kid better?

The school consuler wants us to believe that he was going to notify CPS next day yet he says he didn’t see a need for emergent care- then why call CPS at all? This dean wants us to believe he didn’t see a need for a physical search of the boy’s bag based on his assessment Ethan was not a threat problem with that is that he was. He was the very threat that everyone wanted to avoid. The parents are to blame yes, but so are these two Ejac and Hopkins. They did not do due diligence.
