Hello, your pc is the Asus ROG G20AJ which means your socket is the LGA1150, so your best CPU to fit that socket is the I7-4790k, even if you had the higher PC Asus ROG G20CB and that CPU is the LGA1151 which means you can fit more of the 10 series intel cpus, so if you after better then, either upgrade to the I7-4790k or sell the PC and buy the Asus ROG G20CB and then upgrade, hope that helps
hi welsh! how do you know the i7 4790 is the highest cpu you can upgrade to? i have the i5 4460 right now with a gtx 1080 and just got CS2 access, i would like to be able to run it just a bit faster but the i7 would still be bottlenecking a bit. Also i read somewhere its the 4790 max not the 4790K. please let me know. Thanks!
Hiyyaa. So my cpu fan/4pin(chassis fan/5pin) is ok recently died ( after 7 years) and decided to replace it. Just got my replacement today and for some reason the cpu fan runs at full speed and it registers the rpm as N/A at the bios but its running at full speed
Hello, was the fan the replacement and did the wires colors if any match to the old one, sounds like maybe their are mixed up and maybe causing this issue
I have the one with the 4790 non k , I don't see a reason to put the k version in as I can't even hit boost clocks on the non k as it will thermal throttle already. Even changed the thermal paste but no avail. Any idea how to upgrade the cooling to at least be able to hit boost clocks?
Hello, well on the asus rog forums, people have put a corsair H50 water cooling into the system but its some work to butcher the case for the water pipes, but a lot of people saying their get great temps.

if I install the i7 4790k I will need to change the cooling system? btw I have g20aj with an i5 4460. If I can change it which one will be the perfect one for it?. Thanks in advance.
hello, on the asus rog forums people have fitted a h50i water cooling, and there is a full post on how to do that but you will need to cut holes into the case. I have not seen many people fit other fans in the system, and I don't have 1 to test a few on.
Hello, depends on your budget. I think on the asus rog forums that people was able to get to the 9gen i7, as long as its a LGA1151 then it should be good to go.
yeah their is no more updates to the bios, ask on the asus rog forums as their is a great amount of people that has update to some newer CPUs and working fine

I wouldn't go anything above the 20 series cards as the cpu will start to be the bottleneck of the system

maybe you can, but its something at the time I never tried cause no one was asking about the overheating issues

Is your pc the g20aj model and if so then the i7-4790k is the very best you can install

if you fit that cpu above, then I wouldn't go anything better then a 20 series card like a 2060 or 2070 etc....but founders card will fit

if you will need 2 power bricks, in the uk its the 230w and 180w but I think in the us its 2 x 180w power bricks, but not sure as I am based in the uk
