So im upgrading my G20aj from an i5+gtx 950 to an i7 4790 (non-k) +gtx 1080. I dont know which gpu pins ill need to make this work. I know the 1080 itself has 1 8 pin connection. What im not sure of is what Pins i need from the Mobo side of things. Any advice? Thanks in advance
Hi again, thanks for your numerous video they helped alot , i have a question regarding the bios not detecting the ssd, i tried everyting -reseting cmos (changing pile also) -switching sata cables -switching ssd into hdd position removing hdd This hapenned after i put i7 4890k, it hapenned before with the i5460 but sometimes it would detect the ssd without problem Cant load windows my hdd is too old and corrupted so difficult to update the bios Is there methods to fix this iv been taking apart everything at least 15 times
Hi my digital speedometer is showing the wrong speed aswell as the tyre pressure i have a 2016 corsa will this tool also fix the digital speedometer aswell thanks any help would be appreciated.
Hello, is the speed in Miles per hour (mph) or Kilo per hour (kph)? , the tool will only set the wheels to the correct position on the dashboard so you know which tyre is going flat.
Thanks a lot welsh, now i just bought a RTX 3070 Inno3d and 330W Powerbrick , but when i tried to running it, it wont turn on the GPU, what do i do wrong ? btw mine is G20CI
Hello, do you get any display on start-up, I found some people which had this issue is either the pin inside hasn't been moved over on the JC01 pin or the riser card which is on the pcie of the graphics card is not flat and going into the slot on the motherboard. does that make sense, it does when I write it lol
@@welshwhoopee i thought the power supply is the problem , it is the 3070 that i bought is broken , i just repair it and it work like butter with original adapter , fyi motherboard cant handle more than 280w
so it unnecessary to buy another 330W

Hello, depends on the model. the AJ model can only do a i7 4790k and if you got the GB model, check the asus forums to check what is the higest cpu some one has fitted and working

Anyone know what the deal is with the digital mph, my brother just got the 1.2 limited edition and on the display it has mph but it is circled out, is this just a restricted feature and needs a software flash to activate? Seems strange for it to be there unless it could also be linked to a fault?
I am not sure about the lower models corsas, as mine was based around the vxr model
Hello! I've been upgrading an Asus ROG G20CB that I have and your videos have been extremely helpful. Thank you! I upgraded the RAM to 32gb (2X - Samsung M471A2K43BB1-CPB 16GB DDR4-2133 SO-DIMM) and installed an M.2 SSD (SAMSUNG 980 SSD 250GB PCle 3.0x4, NVMe M.2 2280) for the the boot drive / operating system. Everything work better than I could hope but then I tried to add another SSD with a SATA cable next to the CD drive (Kingston SQ500S37/480G 480GB Q500 SATA3 2.5 SSD) and now nothing will turn on, not even power to the USBs. Even with the new SSD unplugged. I've carefully taken this thing apart about ten times now and I'm at a loss. I'm hoping it's most likely something silly but I don't know where to start. Hi bought a g20 with r9 370. Tried to start it but no booting. I opened it up and what I can see the computer is starting but the graphic card is not runnning. Tried the graphic card on another computer and it runs. What can the problem be? Got only 1 power adapter, how can I come faster help with u thanks..

Hello nice video! I have a question, I have asus g20 aj with i5 4460 and gtx 960 2gb, upgraded the ram to 16 gb from 8 gb a few years ago. I have been running the GPU and CPU since I bought the PC like eight years ago or something and I really need an upgrade of components, what would you recommend? Sould I only upgrade the gpu or cpu or both, I know upgrading both may be there best option, but which one would you upgrade if you had to choose one XD? I have read some comments and I can say that I have the bigger original powerbrick that has 2 powerbricks attached to each other. Thanks in advance!

Hello, yeah I brought a few of these and work really on them and course help a lot of people over the year. your best gpu on that cpu is around the rtx 2000 series like the RTX2060/2070, mainly due to the bottleneck to your cpu. but if you upgrade your cpu then you could easy handle a card from the RTX 3000 series, like RTX3060/3070. the only issue is just which card and will it fit, the card itself has to be small then the founders edition/refence card and not to wide, as then 3000 and 4000 are 2/3 pcie solts wide, but send me a link to a card and I can help you or your budget.

Hi, i recently got a 1660 ti for christmas as a gift to replace my gtx 750. However, when i opened the case and tried to put in the 1660 ti, it wouldnt fit! I saw the dimension restraints of the card and my card is around 3 mm too tall so it wont fit in the case. Would there be any way to fix this or it is impossible to use this gpu.
I do realize the possibility that i couldve inserted the card wrong into the holder but i tried to fit the gpu into the case raw, and it still didnt fit. So i think this will be impossible to use.
Hello, you don't really need the case to put the gpu in. if you install and its too wide then you will need to replace the card, if your getting a new card and you want a 100% fit, then go for a founders edition/refence card. sorry for delay
Whats the best GPU i can put in there? Ive been using a 1080 for years now and im thinking of going up to a 20 series i just really want to make sure it'll work before spending the money. I obviously already have the power supply. Dont think a 30 series would work and even if it does it would probably be bottlenecked. I know its an outdated computer but mine runs just fine and im thinking of using it as a dedicated gaming pc toll it dies.
Hello, what model and cpu are you running? if your on the old Aj and have the 4790 then the 3000 will only give you cpu bottleneck, if you have the 6700 cpu then you should be ok with a 3000 series, but be careful as most of these cards are really wide, there started to take 2/3 pcie solts and will no way fit into this pc. so trying to stick to the founders edition/refence if your best bet

I have gotten the new ssd in and working I took out the hhd (broken) now I’m stuck in bios and confused how to get out I think I need to switch the boot order but can’t find in the bios settings.
As in the system wont boot up to the pc, do you have windows installed on the new ssd?

Hello, depends if you have 1 or 2 power bricks, if you only have 1 then stick to the model that doesnt need extra power but works through the pcie line

hi welsh! how do you know the i7 4790 is the highest cpu you can upgrade to? i have the i5 4460 right now with a gtx 1080 and just got CS2 access, i would like to be able to run it just a bit faster but the i7 would still be bottlenecking a bit. Also i read somewhere its the 4790 max not the 4790K. please let me know. Thanks!

Can my G20AJ that didn’t come with the 2nd power brick upgrade from the original GTX750 to an AMD RX580 8GB without needing the 2nd power brick ? Having a hard time finding one, if you could recommend a current link to one that would be great.

what model is your pc? you don't need to move the pin and going from 6pin to 8pin is fine, do you have 2 power bricks?

Yes it's fine, just depends on the card you choose and if you need the second power brick

This is 10 months later. You did okay describing what you were doing until you got to the SSD drive. Isn't the drive secured somehow? Did you have problems connecting the two cables?
If followed then it should be OK, I dud some of these videos years ago so hard for me to remember every detail lol and yes it was fine with the two cables
I have ordered an ssd (Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD) and ram (Crucial RAM 16GB (2x8GB) DRR3 1600 MHz) to upgrade my g20aj a little bit as it has slowed down over the years. Is there cables or anything else that I need to order so that I can have both drives working?
Are you putting a second drive in the system or replacing the main drive? If its a second drive then you will need a power and data cable, I had these spares ones in my box, otherwise you can get them on ebay

Hello, don't go anything above the RTX 20 series as your cpu will be your bottleneck on that system

well you got the AJ model, so max cpu is the i7-4790k, but with only 1 power brick then your limited to the lower tier which don't have any power to the gpu, if you can buy a second power brick cheap then your more open to much batter cards.

your main drive should be the ssd and not the sold 1tb mech drive, and also fresh windows if your still on the one that came with the system
please help me - tell me what the jumpers are responsible for, I can't figure it out and connect an additional 180W power supply, I already understood that a 230W power supply can power two connectors 6 and 8, but if the video card consumes more than about 150W, the computer turns on, you can also probably switch it with a jumper so that the second power supply is used to power connectors 6 and 8 at 180 - right? how to do it ? my new card is gtx 980
Sometimes you need to do the switch jumpers but not always
@@welshwhoopee I already figured everything out myself. One lone jumper enables or disables auxiliary power (6+8). The remaining five jumpers in a row switches from where the video card will take energy 6 + 8 - either from the main unit 230 or from an additional 180. Excellent power supply flexibility - thanks to asus engineers. Personally, I bought a dell slim cylinder for a 240w power supply and it alone feeds the entire system - now it's a gtx 1070, but soon I will switch to 1080ti. I really, really like pascal - it can be super undervolted. I plan to undervolt 1080ti to 120w tdp. It's just incredible - no heat, no noise, and only a relatively small loss of fps. And more reliability-life of the video card.

yeap, depends on the model. the founders edition is 100% fit
my ssd doesnt fit into the tray (above the optical drive) i can put it somewhere else?
its a 2.5" crucial bx500, what size did you use
yeah I would personally take out the optical drive out, and use double sided tape to just keep it in place. at that time I used a sandisk ssd and fitted ok, but remeber you need to remove the cage to really give you access, leaving the cage in place made it really made for me to try and push it into the small gap.
