It's creepy the way they are all shaking their heads, nodding their heads and pulling stupid faces while they are singing this. Milking it for everything it's worth!
I always loved this song. On this closing alma mater, I especially love when Cubby & Karen sings NOW IT'S TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, TO ALL OUR COMPANY by themselves. I felt it was Nice being they're the youngest two in this particular group!
I remember this playing late at night in the 90s. I sing it occasionally to my 3 year old now. Last night it came on the Sirius XM Disney station and my son started singing it. My husband was amazed he knew it😂
I just went to the Cast Member farewell party for the closing of Mickey's Toontown Fair and they played this song as Mickey and the gang boarded the WDW railroad and left the station one last time. Totally cried my eyes out :-)
Thank you so much for wonderful Mickey Mouse Club memories, Annette! You will always be America's Mom and favorite teenager! Rest in glorious loving peace, as you are now free of the pain. Keep smiling and dancing! All of our love, America
Long ago, in high school, my choir sometimes finished a set with,”Now it’s time to say goodbye…”. We improvised sixteen part harmony. Our director kind of let us get away with that. I miss these kids, and I miss our director (1920-2006). Music is timeless.
I wasnt born till the 70s but I remember growing up watching this show in reruns and it still hits that nostalgia spot inside!! Love this... thanks for posting!!
This is the 1957-'58 closing segment. The only thing that's missing is Jimmie announcing at the beginning, "And now, Mouseketeers, here's one thing we want you always to remember...".
I showed some of the clips to my dad and he got all misty eyed as he told me about how he would run and get his mouse ears and plop in front of the TV to watch this. I love that he can share memories like that with me and my brother.
Saone Grant It's creepy because there is absolutely nothing cheerful about it. The tone sounds like they're at a funeral home instead of a clubhouse. Add the black and white and you get an uneasy, Twilight Zone feeling. And the way they somberly sing Mickey's name sounds like a brainwashed "come join us" cult.
+TaylorTheWall I don't understand people. it's not supposed to be a happy song but come on man creepy? get out of here lol. it's Disney for God's sake. we don't do creepy. we do imagination.
My mom grew up watching this. I see old episodes and theme songs, and feel that the 2010 generation is truly going to suffer. The *last* good shows I saw on Disney were Lilo & Stitch, American Dragon: Jake Long, and The Little Mermaid. That these ended somewhere around 2006 tells you how far Disney Channel has sunk. Bring back the old shows! Bring back a childhood that was simpler and more innocent!
As Mouseketeer Sharon Baird remembered, “Jimmie was one of the nicest human beings I’ve ever known in my life. He was genuine and he didn’t speak down to kids, he included them. He was a great person to look up to.”
Memories! I used to sing along as a child in the fifties, and in the car as a 5 year old, around 1957, I would sing, and end it with an,"M-O-U is me!" My mom would correct me, but I would have none of that! ROFL! Thanks for the memory!
Hey, I used to live for this show. I was on the East Coast, and then moved to California, the land of my dreams. I'll never forget the positive energy of Jimmy Dodd and his Mouseketeers. xxx's and ooo's to the whole bunch.
I will forever be so happy that I was raised during the days of the Mickey Mouse Club! How I loved and admired Annette and I continued to follow her all through her illness. Yes, she is now free from all her pain and suffering and I have no doubt she is in the arms of her Savior. God rest your precious soul, Annette. We will forever miss you and thank you for being who you where.....a wonderful role model to all of us!
I watched this standing up in my playpen. I grew up with these kids and loved it. Thanks for posting this. I was searching for old songs when I came across this and sat, listening and remembering.
When the third season Roll Call & Alma Mater were filmed, Lonnie was not able to appear on camera, due to an accident that occured in rehearsal that took off the skin on his cheek; it was camera noticable & about the size of a silver dollar. They added a line to explain it for his introduction of the guests with Jimmie on Talent Roundup that week, but decided that they could not have one Mouseketeer with a visible injury for the 5 days a week opening/roll call & alma mater for an entire season.
I never knew, until now, that the Alma Mater had anything preceding the familiar "Now it's time to say goodbye" portion of the song. Shows how much I pay attention... Thanks for the history lesson! :)
as a child with severe insomnia (less than 2 hours of sleep a night) 1am Disney channel in the 90s was the BEST. zorro, zorro, mickey mouse club, imagineers, and then some old disney movie. I watched that lineup for years before my insomia was treated. I'm so sad that these shows aren't still on. i would DVR them for sure!
If you listened real close yesterday, you heard an an entire nation shed a tear...When Annette got to heaven, they swapped her mouse ear beanie for a halo. Her turtleneck was waiting for her, complete with her name on the front. She earned her wings long ago through the happiness she brought so many. Now she and Walt are laughing about old times. She's no longer in pain, and is dancing and singing up a storm...Farewell and rest in peace Annette. We all love ya...and we'll never forget ya.
I never got to see this because I was born in the early 2000's.. My grandfather has a gray t-shirt with a colored version of Mickey Mouse's face and said 'Mickey Mouse Clubhouse'...
I used the word "rarely" to describe how often the longer version of the song was featured on television re-runs on the Disney Channel (Vault Disney). Most of the time, only a snippet of the song was included on these.
im 11 and i live in engand and i reed baums oz books and watch mickey mouse club it is true that it brings tears to my eyes i would have loved to groneup in the 50s thanks for this clip.
"Why? Because we like you!" How many kids wished they could live in the Mickey Mouse Club universe, where they were accepted by Jimmy, Roy and all those talented kids. Sometimes fantasy gets us over the rough spots.
Annette Funicello , a true Angel . She made a great impression on my generation. Annette was a sweet and talented young lady , and a beautiful woman . She will be missed . Rest In Peace Annette.
This was the best version of the MMC Mantra. The whole cast is really good here and gets a close up. I heard or read some story why Lonnie isn't here but I don't recall why. I'm almost sure he's said he was in all 3 season. It's too bad because I think this is the version they always showed in syndication.
Annette made it fashionable for girls to be young ladies. Sure wish the girls of today has such a mentor. Manners, modesty, kindness...where is it today?
I remember the tv schedule when I was a kid of how Disney was back then. Morning shows were for toddlers until like 1-2pm and then upper age kid shows like ducktales and talespins or darkwing duck, then in the evening it was still upper age kid shows with a mix or teen shows like lizzie mcguire, bug juice, even stephens, and boy meets world, all the way until like midnight and I think Disney at the time knew it had a senior age demographic or something because from midnight all the way to like 6 am was nothing but shows from the 50s including old Disney movies and the last hour of it was Mickey Mouse club when the toddlers were just starting to wake up along with parents getting ready for the day and it would basically do it all over again. Those were good times lol.
Rest in Peace, Karen Pendleton. 1946-2019 you will be missed.
"Now it's time to say goodbye, to" Annette Funicello. It seems you've traded your ears for a halo. R.I.P. and thanks for great memories.
This version makes my cry. It's beautiful to know that after all of these years,Disney is still operating in a large scale without Walt!
It's creepy the way they are all shaking their heads, nodding their heads and pulling stupid faces while they are singing this. Milking it for everything it's worth!
@@PreservationEnthusiast You're the one that's creepy. You're one of the Devil's people.
This has to play at my funeral.
That can be arranged.
CYKA
Same!
That’s literally what I was thinking
Hilarious 😂
At the end of every trip I take to Disney, I play this song. Always brings a tear to my eye.
Mourning the Passing of the Beautiful Cheryl Holdridge Reventlow Post
A National Treasure Always Remembered
1944-2009
The Mickey Mouse Club had one thing that was very common back then, and is hard to find now. High quality down to earth wholesome and pure friendship.
But remember, kids! You’re only allowed if you’re beautiful and white!
Very nostalgic. The girl with the prettiest smile and my chidhood crush Cheryl Holdridge has died at the age of 64. RIP Cheryl.
Oh, I loved Annette when I was about twelve years old, she was the prettiest girl in the world. Thank you very much for letting us enjoy.

Rest In Peace Annette. You were one of my childhood crushes and such a good person. At least you're in no more pain.

Cheryl Holdridge & Annette were my two favorites ladies from the original Cast. R.I.P.
This is the best of the three 'takes' or versions I've seen them do. Their delivery is softer and more reverent--the feeling is almost religious.
RIP Annette. I watched this all the time.
This is where Mickey's famous "See ya real soon!" from the "House of Mouse" comes from
oh yeah the best ever
The famous closing line also appeared on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, only in Season 1.
@@victoriabrown9192
Don’t forget that Mickey also says it at the end of the “Mickey’s Philharmagic” show when the curtain closes on him.
@@frankz3595 and Mickey Mouse says it in other Mickey Mouse live shows from Disney parks, Disney on ice, and Disney live touring shows!
It's the Disney way of saying "Until we meet again".

This song provided me such good feelings during a difficult time in my childhood.
Thanks to you for posting this.
What Do YAll mean creepy???? I love this closing theme...I especially love the 2 youngest sing their part alone: Cubby & Karen. This is GREAT!!!!
WWETheDog I can see the whole cult thing, but if this is how your funeral homes sound, I need to become a mortician.
+TaylorTheWall I don't understand people. it's not supposed to be a happy song but come on man creepy? get out of here lol. it's Disney for God's sake. we don't do creepy. we do imagination.
I second that.
If you believe that the Hannah Montana Show has all the charisma of a pay toilet, raise your hand.
Rest In Peace, Cheryl (Holdridge), Annette, Doreen (Tracey) and Karen (Pendleton) and thanks for the smiles you brought to millions, including myself.
This "Roy" is Roy Williams, a long time Disney employee. There are two Roy Disneys; one is Walt's brother and the other is Walt's nephew.

I agree
Wow I saw this for the first time just now and I can say without a doubt this is the best ending to an episode of a kids show. So sad and beautiful.
