Pretty sure what he did right was create music that has lasted so long. Sad when "fans" only praise him for not playing, just because they're mostly familiar with Freddie (not Freddy). Queen is a band, not just one person. What some of you never realize is that every time John wanted to leave, it was Freddie who convinced him to stay.
Now we know why Queen were the best group of all time-because they belong together,it was destiny to put them together. Everyone of them is unique,and together simply THE BEST. Did anybody think about that how many memories they have? God bless them.
Funny, I'm almost the same age as John Deacon, and had not over my life of raising kids etc. realized that all these songs I so enjoyed were by the same group. I have spent a lot of the last 2 "quarantine" months watching videos of Queen, reading stories etc and I quite realize now that he was a very important part of the synergy that was Queen. With the loss of Freddie, the group became unbalanced and I can very much understand why this quiet man (who tended to keep a poker face when he could) decided to step out--He has enough and lucky indeed is the man who can realize that. John, the only other thing I can say, IF you are reading this: I wish I had met you.

When you see queen in concert Freddy and Brian are center stage and your attention is divided between them. But I took a couple songs and just watch John play and realized what a talented fantastic man he was. Poor guy. I believe he was Bi, as were Brian & Roger, & they were deeply in love with Freddie but never could come out. In John's case, Freddie's death messed him up for life-he wasn't able to overcome his love for Freddie. His true love died. He couldn't even visit him when he was still in relatively decent shape compared to what became of him. The other 2 were different. It's all ok, just very sad for John & the rest of his life.
